Sperm competition in birds and causes for its intra- and iterspecific variation

This bachelor thesis focuses on describing the occurrence and within- and between species variation of extra-pair paternity (EPP) in socially monogamous birds. In the first part of thesis I discribe variation in EPP levels among birds - I identify species with no EPP ever recorded, and species with extreme values of EPP. Extra-pair paternity seems to be more common in passerines than non-passerines. In the second part of my thesis, the most influential correlates of EPP levels in passerine birds are discussed. I summarize contemporary knowledge of the effect of these (mostly ecological) factors on EPP. These include breeding density and synchrony, population genetic diversity, adult mortality and longevity and male contribution to parental care. Secondary male ornamentation and extra-pair paternity: experimental manipulation in collared flycatchers (Ficedula albicollis)

Extra-pair paternity, resulting from sexual promiscuity, is frequently detected in socially monogamous passerines. Previous studies on extra-pair paternity in birds have identified several traits correlated with increased fertilization success of males. However, the effect of experimental manipulation of ornament expression on male fertilization success has only seldom been evaluated. The aim of this thesis is to reveal the potential link between the size of a trait suposedly playing a role in female mate choice decision and male fertilization success in collared flycatchers (Ficedula albicollis), using experimental manipulation of male forehead white patch size. In addition, mating success, mating speed of the manipulated and control individuals and size of a brood (a proxy for female reproductive investments) were evaluated. Results indicate that forehead patch size manipulation did not affect male social pairing success (mating speed), his social mate reproductive investments (brood size) or male extra-pair and within-pair fertilization success. Development of unemployment in the region Pribram

Bachelor thesis is elaborated on the topic Development of unemployment in the region Pribram, which is among the regions with high unemployment. The theoretical part defines the basic concepts related to unemployment and its types, labor market, ways of measuring unemployment and tools of active and passive employment policy.
The analytical part is dedicated to the development of unemployment in the region Pribram in the years 2004 to 2014, namely the development of the registered unemployment rate and the proportion of the unemployed, development of job seekers and their structure (by age, gender and education) and the progression of number of vacancies. The values obtained are processed into synoptic tables and graphs. An important part of the thesis is a survey that focuses on respondents from Pribram region.
In conclusion, findings of thesis Development of unemployment in the region Pribram are summarized and evaluated, there are some proposed solutions to alleviate the unemployment and the possible development of unemployment in 2015.
