Library management system Olib 7: implementation process and administration

Diplomová práce se zabývá oblastí meziknihovních služeb na základe praktických zkušeností. Cílem je analyzovat a popsat soucasný stav techto služeb poskytovaných a využívaných v Knihovne AV CR a seznámit s jejich dalším možným vývojem s využitím nových technických a technologických prvku a vytvorit tak celkový obraz popisované cásti. Oblast meziknihovních služeb má i legislativní rámce v knihovním zákone a jeho provádecím predpisu a autorském zákone, s navazující národní metodikou pro meziknihovní služby, založenou také na mezinárodních smernicích a doporuceních. Mimo jiné, legislativa také povoluje zpoplatnení jen urcité cásti techto služeb, a proto tu nastala otázka zpoplatnit nebo ponechat bez poplatku i zbylou cást meziknihovních služeb. S automatizací meziknihovních služeb souvisí komunikacní protokoly vytvorené na základe mezinárodních norem a také možnosti využití nových technologií, vytvorení nových postupu pri zpracovávání agendy, poskytování a využívání meziknihovních služeb. K temto novým rešením muže sloužit analýza praxe konkrétního Oddelení meziknihovních služeb v Knihovne AV CR uskutecnované v reálném case, praktické zkušenosti knihovnic tohoto oddelení spolu s odborníky na nove zavádené technologické nástroje, kterým je napr. elektronické dodávání dokumentu.

The regional functions of libraries from the point of view of a Integrated Library System: a case study of the Municipal Library in Prague

(in English): This thesis is focused on Integrated Library Systems (ILS), specifically providing ILS helpdesk services through regional functions of libraries. In theoretical section are at first described the regional functions and several ILSs used in the Czech Republic. The next, system of public libraries in chosen EU countries is described, and their strategy and process of providing helpdesk services for ILS. The practical section consists of the case study of the regional ILS implementation process at the Municipal Library in Prague. The main goal of the thesis is to describe in detail the implementation of regional ILS in practice, which can be used as a tutorial to implement regional ILS at other libraries. Robert Darnton's contribution to the use of electronic communication tools in university education

This bachelor's thesis deals with the personalities of the American historian Robert Darnton and his contribution to the use of electronic communication tools in university education. The goal of the thesis is to map the professional career and explain the basic principles of the work of the leading American historian, and at the same time to methodologically test beneficial biographical methods for researching the history of book culture. The research question is: How did Robert Darnton contribute to the use of electronic communication tools in higher education? The theoretical part is based on secondary literature and available electronic sources. Definitions related to the topics Robert Darnton deals with in his work are presented here. Next, the personality of Robert Darnton himself is introduced. The practical part is created by using qualitative research methods in the form of interviews with two representatives of two academic publishing houses in the Czech Republic. The conclusion of the bachelor's thesis forms a summary of the acquired knowledge and provides an answer to the research question. The Status and Social Prestige of the Publisher`s Profession in Comparative Historical Perspective: Case Study of the Life and Achievements of Viktor Stoilov

This bachelor thesis is dealing with the topic of the personality of the publisher Viktor Stoilov and his work. It also compares the changes that the publisher's prestige has undergone in history The aim of the bachelor thesis is to map the life and work of Viktor Stoilov using the biographical method and evaluate his contribution to the development of Czech book culture. The theoretical part is written using secondary literature, it includes an analysis of definitions related to the topic and the history of publishers operating in the Czech territory. The practical part includes qualitative research conducted using structured interviews with open questions with two personalities from the Czech book market. The conclusion of the work is dedicated to summarizing the facts found related to the publisher's personality.

Educational Programmes in Czech Libraries: Regional probe in Czech municipal libraries

Abstract, Keywords The aim of the bachelor thesis is to analyze educational programs in Czech libraries and to point out the basic trends in this area. To achieve this goal I am comparing two urban libraries. Part of the thesis is the analysis of two selected libraries and some cultural and educational events in these libraries. In the theoretical part, the thesis focuses on the founding of libraries as book rentals and their transformation into a social and educational center, i.e. the space to acquire new information, creative education and establish social interactions in the community. The aim of the research part is to find out by means of quantitative research (questionnaire) what is the interest in cultural and educational events of registered library readers and how cultural and educational events participate in the social life of the given place. The research was carried out in two selected libraries in Dobříš and Dvůr Králové. These are libraries of the same type (urban) in towns with a population not exceeding 20,000 inhabitans and where libraries represent the center of cultural life in the town. Seniors and mobile apps - instant messaging

This thesis deals with the information behavior of seniors aged 65-80 in the context of smart devices and applications that enable instant messaging. The thesis consists of two parts: a theoretical part and an empirical part. The theoretical part generally focuses on seniors, the internet, instant messaging applications, information security, and education opportunities for seniors related to these topics. It includes a review of existing research and introduces statistical information from the Czech Republic and abroad. The results of my qualitative research study with seniors is presented in the empirical part. The research was conducted through interviews with seniors aged 65-80, both in the Czech Republic and abroad. Interviews were focused on the use of instant messaging applications. The main goal of the interviews was the investigation of application use by seniors, frequency and purpose of such use, positive and negative perceptions of these applications, as well as awareness of risks associated with their use. The influence of the coronavirus pandemic on application use was investigated as well.

Digital libraries of Czech county libraries

This diploma thesis is devoted to digital libraries of Czech regional libraries. Based on the available sources of literature and the questionnaire survey, the individual digital libraries that are built and administered by regional libraries are presented. In the first chapters of the thesis there is a terminological overview, the process of digitization itself and the digitization workflow. This is followed by a description of the distribution of personal representation of individual positions in digital libraries as well as the standards of digital libraries. An important part of the thesis is devoted to the results of the questionnaire survey among individual regional libraries and the presentation of the results of this survey. Cooperation public children libraries with kindergarten in Prague

(in English): The purpose of this Bachelor thesis is to define the structure of cooperation between children library and the kindergarten. This proces was examined from different kind of views, but primarily the proces is shown on one concrete cooperation between Munincipal library in Prague - Prosek and its children branch and kindergarten Novoborská.This final paper includes a case study focused on the kindergarten requirements concerning the librarian services provided by the library. The study is being made by using the method of quality research. The outcome of the thesis is to provide a design of marketing campaign for the Prosek's Munincipal library in Prague. The campaign is being made out using the information based on the case study combinated with the key literature focused on methods and recommendations how to work with preschool children, which can be found in the state educational program paper and IFLA guide for Children's library services. Other data used for creating the campaign are based on detailed analysis of the children library at the Munincipal library in Prague - Prosek.

The tools for building the collection in the Municipal Library of Prague

The goal of this bachelor thesis is to introduce tools, practices, and agendas used to build the library collection of the Municipal Library of Prague (further also MLP) and their relations. The thesis consists of six chapters and appendices. It includes the explanation of some internal terms used only in MLP. Later, the characterization and a brief history of the Municipal Library of Prague are exposed. The thesis also describes the processes taking place in the departments of acquisitions and library collections maintenance (purchase, resupply, displacement). More attention is given to the so-called attractive collection, its characterization, purchase, displacement, and lending, and selected sample of the attractive collection is used to show the function of the tools to build the collection. The thesis concludes with the possibilities of innovations in the field of building the collections in the Municipal Library of Prague.
