Steam Turbine for Compressor Drive
Čoupek, Filip ; Fiedler, Jan (referee) ; Kracík, Petr (advisor)
The aim of the master's thesis is the design of a condensing steam turbine to drive a compressor with specified parameters. Firstly, the thermodynamic calculation of the flow channels is made, which are verified by strength control to meet the API 612 standard. Following, the calculation for the axial and radial bearings, on which the turbine is mounted, is described and the operating characteristic is developed. Finally, a construction drawing of the longitudinal section of the steam turbine is attached.
Methods of numerical integration
Čoupek, Filip ; Tomášek, Petr (referee) ; Zatočilová, Jitka (advisor)
This bachelor thesis focuses on numerical calculation of a simple specific integral. First, the basic concepts are established and briefly described interpolation and orthogonal polynomials, from which the individual formulas are based. Emphasis is placed on the introduction, derivation and description of Newton-Cotes quadrature formulas, Gauss quadrature formulas and Clenshaw-Curtis quadrature formulas. In the penultimate chapter we describe the principle of adaptive integration and Romberg's method. At the end of the thesis is a comparison of individual methods on specific examples using the software Matlab.
Characterization of heating rate of laser-cooled Calcium ion in Paul trap
Čoupek, Filip ; Hrabina, Jan (referee) ; Číp, Ondřej (advisor)
This master thesis deals with the measurement of the heating rate of a single calcium ion trapped in a Paul linear trap. First, the trap in which the ion is trapped is described, followed by some of the most important effects acting on the ion. Subsequently, the various cooling techniques used to provide the best possible conditions to achieve the most accurate measurements are described. The work also includes a survey of thermometric methods and their statistical deviations to determine the heating rate of the ion, and subsequent comparisons under steady-state laboratory conditions for a particular position of the ion in the Paul trap. Experimental measurements of the heating rate of the ion are then made for its various positions in the axial direction of the trap, and the optimal position where the heating rate is lowest is found. Measurements of the ion heating rate for different frequencies of secular motion of the ion in the axial direction of the Paul trap are also included.
