The use of speech output as a way to overcoming barriers to using computers by blind people

The goal of this work is to show possibilities in developing computer applications without obstacles for their users. The work describes designing a computer version of classical desk board game Scrabble. The result is a description of a way how to create such game that will be ready to be played by blind and visually impaired people without any need of assistance of sighted person.

Tato práce řeší problém implementace asistenčního systému pro podporu zrakově postižených osob v prostředcích hromadné dopravy. Jelikož se jedná pouze o část většího celku (projektu RAMPE), není v této práci pokryta celá problematika, nýbrž pouze její část. Práce je psána z pohledu vývojáře a softwarového architekta. Zlepšuje architekturu dříve vyvinutého projektu, navrhuje nové metody a techniky a přidává do výsledné aplikace nové funkce. Toto však platí pouze pro příslušnou část - práce nemůže a ani si neklade za cíl změnit nebo navrhnout celý systém. To už bylo provedeno jinými autory v minulosti a tato práce je na těchto předchozích výsledcích postavena.
Tactile perception children with severe visual impairment through application of STIP test

The aim of this thesis was to provide a comprehensive summary of findings and statistical results of verification of visually impaired children's tactile abilities in preschool age (5 - 8 years), early school age (9 - 12 years) and older school age (13 - 17 years) using STIP tests I. - III. (Speed of Tactile Information Processing). The STIP test, taken from the English original, is converted into Braille and testing reading abilities of numerals. The test assesses accuracy - error making in lines, rate and concentration.
Acceptance of visual impairment in the productive age

The bachelor thesis consists of a theoretical and a research part. It deals with the acceptance of visual impairment in the working age, specifically looking at acquired visual impairment. The theoretical part defines congenital and acquired visual impairment, then includes the most common causes of visual impairment, its consequences and the associated psychological changes, then describes the possibilities of successful acceptance in the form of a foreign study, and finally deals with the possibilities of social rehabilitation and its forms. The aim of the research is to describe how people reflect on their process of acceptance of sight loss and what areas have influenced this acceptance and what the differences are between male and female experiences in relation to their personality traits. Using qualitative research in the form of semi-structured interviews with three respondents, it became clear that the most significant change for respondents was a change in mindset and motivation to cope with the crisis situation. Furthermore, monitoring one's own progress towards self-sufficiency and the support of those around them proved to have a great influence on the acceptance process. Movement games for children with visual disabilities in kindergarten

The bachelor thesis focuses on movement games for children with visual impairment in kindergarten. The aim of the thesis is to group theoretical knowledge on the chosen topic and based on the theoretical part to create a stack of movement games that can be used by special educators in kindergarten for children with visual impairment. A qualitative strategy is used to fulfill these goals. The bachelor thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part deals with the definition of the concept of visual impairment, its causes, the specifics of the development of a preschool child with visual impairment and then the preschool education and play itself, where the types of games or, for example, the rules to be followed during the game are written. The practical part contains a methodological procedure, which consists of a stack of movement games for children with visual impairment and can be used as inspiration for special educators in kindergartens. The methodological procedure is divided into four parts, with four movement games in each part, two movement games meant for the classroom and two games meant for outdoors. The methodological procedure, which contains four parts of four movement games, is divided according to the themes of the season, in example the first part concerns the theme of spring, the second part concerns the theme of summer. The third part deals with autumn and the last fourth part focuses on winter.
Pleoptic exercises for children with binocular vision disorders in kindergarten

This bachelor´s thesis is about pleoptic exercises for children with binocular vision disorders in kindergarten. Its aim is to process the delineated theme in theoretic way and based on that create didactic materials, eventually worksheets focused on development of particular visual abilities. The partial aim of this bachelor´s thesis is practical use of the created materials and tools in educational process and its following evaluation. To reach these aims the qualitative strategy was chosen. Selected methods for reaching these aims were analysis of documents, half-structured interview and observing. After evaluation were all of those created didactic materials considered suitable for inclusion into the educational process. The bachelor´s thesis consists of two parts: the theoretical part and the practical part. As the theoretical part, the practical part includes 6 chapters. In the theoretical part the themes as the vision impairment, the binocular vision, the binocular vision disorders, the correction and treatment of binocular vision, the characteristic of the preschool children and the specifics of the preschool education children with visual impairment are described. In the first chapters of the practical part are introduced aims of bachelor´s thesis and the methods used to reach these aims. In next chapters are described the created didactic materials and the process of its evaluation in kindergarten. The last chapters are focused on evaluation of didactic materials and on discussion about this topic. The created outputs will be usable especially in application area, i.e. in direct work of pedagogues working in kindergartens where are the children with vision impairment being educated.
Adjusting the accessibility of the environment for pupil with visual impairment in primary school

The bachelor's thesis on improving accessibility of the environment for a student with visual impairment at mainstream primary schools explores the possibilities of making mainstream primary schools more accessible for students with visual impairments. The aim of the thesis is to create an adequate theoretical basis related to the chosen topic and, based on that, provide a qualitative description of the school environment's accessibility for the education of a student with visual impairment. A partial objective of the thesis is to evaluate the accessibility measures in a specific school environment for the education of a student with visual impairment and provide general recommendations for adapting the school environment to the needs of students with visual impairments. The theoretical part defines the concept of visual impairment, education of students with visual impairments, independent mobility, spatial orientation, and environmental modifications. The practical part includes a qualitative description of the accessibility of the environment for a female student with visual impairment enrolled in a mainstream primary school. It highlights the assistive devices primarily used by students with visual impairments to enhance their independent work and emphasizes the crucial importance of these devices in providing equal opportunities and supporting inclusive education. The general recommendations provided at the end of the bachelor's thesis inform about available tools and strategies that can contribute to better understanding and support of inclusive education.
The Specifics of the Volunteer Motivation in Work with Severely Visually Impaired Persons

Title: The Specifics of the Volunteer Motivation in Work with Severely Visually Impaired Persons Objective: The aim of the bachelor's thesis is to use a questionnaire to find out the motivation and reasons for volunteering among visually impaired clients in the Okamžik organization. The theoretical part will compare the relevant results of the research so far in the Czech environment. The practical part will try to understand and explain possible differences and unexplained problems, focusing on the dynamics of volunteer motivation and its specifics in working with people with severe visual impairment. Methods: The research method will be a combination of questionnaire and qualitative analysis of collected data. The created questionnaire will be distributed among volunteers from the Okamžik organization. Grounded theory appears to be a suitable method for qualitative analysis. Results: The goal of this research was to ain on motives of voluntires from Okamžik organisation and them categorized motives. Women are partticipating more often than men.
