This bachelor's thesis Zoohygienic aspects and frequency of occurrence of various diseases and methods of their treatment in selected zoo contains a literature search describing the welfare of animals, their life in captivity and details of breeding, inc-luding animal diseases and behavioral disorders. It also describes the importance and role of zoos, their distribution and positive and negative aspects. The part of bachelor thesis are animal diseases in connection with visitors i.e. zoonoses and the virus that flew through the world for the first time in 2019. Interactions between animals and visitors are also part of the research.
Využití mobilní aplikace AWIN Horse ve vybraném chovu koní
DVOŘÁKOVÁ, Marie - Anna
Nowadays, majority of horse owners or breeders are becoming more familiar with the topic of animal welfare and as a result they are willing to provide their horses with the best possible living conditions. This trend goes in hand with necessary changes in the stable technologies, which are trying to get as close as possible to the natural lifestyle of horses. These changes need to take into account not only good nutrition of each animal but also appropriate health condition. Taking into consideration all above mentioned factors, so called active stables are coming to the foreground which meet all the criteria of horse welfare. This system of stabling horses is so unique, because it enables to keep the horses outside during the whole year, together with creating various groups of horses. The whole system is managed by the software and chips, which are placed directly onto the horses. The software and chips communicate with the feeding machines which helps to systematize the day program of each animal. The main aim of this bachelor thesis was to evaluate the level welfare of horses kept in this type of stabling. AWIN welfare assessment protocol for horses was used for the process of evaluation with data entered via the AWINHorse mobile application. In order to provide a good long-term observation, three individual evaluations were performed every six moths. This enabled to determine the factors, which influence the welfare not only of each individual horse, but also of the group itself. This group consisted of individuals aged between 5 to 26 years of age. After evaluating all observations, it has become obvious, that the most challenging criterion is providing the suitable nutrition, mainly for horses prone to obesity, concretely 39 % of horses were described as BCS 4 and 11 % as BCS 5. There has also been monitored slightly higher level of injuries within the herd. Average number of injuries were 8,18 in Assessment I, 1 in Assessment II and 2,46 in Assessment III. The most frequent type of integument alterations was alopecia (73 %), and the most vulnerable parts were hindquarters (27 %), midsection (19 %) and head (15 %). Nasal and ocular discharges were also frequent - only 24 % of horses did not show symptoms of these conditions. On the other hand, a lot of the welfare indicators like swollen joints (11 %), ab-normal breathing (13 %) and coughing (6 %) were observed sporadically. None of the monitored horses were evaluated with poor hair coat condition, signs of hoof neglect, lameness, lesions at mouth corners and prolapse. Thanks to technology a lot of the welfare criteria were accomplished, such as absence of prolonged thirst, comfort around resting and ease of movement. Social interaction was enabled at the highest possible level which had an impact to a occasional presence of agonistic behaviour 13 %. No stereotypies were observed. Majority of horses (96 %) also showed requested reactions in human-animal relationship tests. Factors, which influence the level of welfare were determined as season of the year and integration of new horses into the existing herd. The evaluation is has been evaluated as very beneficial for the breeders as there have been monitored problems, which can be avoided in the future. There have also been suggested ways of correction. The potential of the active stable system has been mainly proven. However, more observations need to be performed in the future in order to provide overall results.
Ekologické zemědělství a poptávka po jeho produktech v obcích různé velikosti na Brněnsku
Skupenová, Zuzana
This thesis deal with organic agriculture and the demand for its products in the municipalities of different sizes in Moravia. Consumer behavior and demand for organic products was the aim of the questionnaire in the region. The questionnaire consisted of 18 questions and was completed by 150 respondents. The data obtained have been properly evaluated and processed into graphs. The results of the survey respondents the average awareness of organic food. After evaluation of the results have shown the organic foods most commonly buy women aged 19-35 years of Brno-country district with secondary education finished with an income of 10 000-19 999 Czk. Consumers of organic food shall be considered as expensive and their higher price is a major restriction to their purchase. They often buy vegetables, fruits and dairy products. Organic food they buy in specialized stores and health food stores, about once a month and these foods will spend the amount of 501-1 000 Czk.
Vliv druhu omráčení jatečných zvířat na kvalitu produktu
Hrubý, Vojtěch
The goal of the bachelor's thesis was to study and describe operations and principles of slaughtering domestic animals. Starting with transporting the animals to the slaughterhouse, describing all the required actions including the final treatment of the carcass. Thesis deals with differences in various technologies and ways of processing diverse domestic animal species--both locally significant and rare and atypical for the Czech Republic. Work then describes legislative requirements related to various operations on the slaughtering line and at home slaughters. In second part it solves the problematics of stunning, analysing it based on price and severity of each of the stunning methods. It also deals with how those differences may affect quality of the initial material. Finally, new trends appearing locally and globally and ways those can improve meat quatity are mentioned.
Hodnocení welfare v chovu dojnic
Sovadinová, Simona
Animal welfare enhancement requires specific problems being reliably identified and corrective actions being defined afterwards. This diploma thesis evaluates the level of animal welfare on Czech farms with dairy and dual purpose cattle. The thesis uses the European project Welfare Quality®, which is a tool for a comprehensive assessment of livestock living conditions. WQ® gives the farms one of four final marks – excellent, enhanced, acceptable, and not classified. Most farms in this research were marked as acceptable. The organic farm received the best rating of all farms. Barns were most deprived of animal feeding, while animal housings were rated well. This research considers welfare as a multidimensional complex and also assesses specific aspects of dairy farming.
Digitaly controled cage change interval and it is influence on health condition and welfare at mice
HONETSCHLÄGER, Jan
In recent years, modern technologies have begun to be used more in laboratory mouse facilities, allowing monitoring of animals and their environment in a cage without the need to handle animals or the cage itself. Monitoring of the environment allows to significantly extend the individual cage-change intervals, and therefore the hypothesis of this work is that there is no disruption of welfare or increased stress at longer intervals. The study was focused on the DVC (digitally ventilated cage) system, which in the first part of the study defined a suitable date for cage-change for individual cages, and in the second part of the study continuously monitored the activity of animals, determined the circadian rhythm and detected its deviations. The DVC defined cage-change corresponds to the number of animals in the cage. DVC extended the interval up to 29 days for 1 animal in the cage, while shortened to 10 days for 5 animals in the cage compared to the commonly used 14-day interval. The curve of circadian rhythms differed slightly between cages with different numbers of animals. Cages with a higher number of animals and cages with males were showing higher activity. Females, on the other hand, showed higher activity immediately after the cage-change. Both sexes then had a higher tendency to create toilets in the front area of the cage. The digitally controlled cage-change optimizes the interval according to the current situation of the environment in the cage without disturbing the welfare and increasing the stress of the animals and it also allows to detect deviations in their daily activity. The extension of the interval leads to less activity of animals and milder reactions to cage-change and calmer establishment of a new hierarchy.
Porovnání teplotně vlhkostního indexu v odlišných stájových objektech pro chov skotu
MOULIS, Petr
The topic of the bachelor's thesis deals with the issue of microclimate in the stable, where the temperature or humidity as an individual quantity does not indicate the ther-mal comfort of animals, so the temperature-humidity index is determined, which after measuring the values of temperature and humidity information on animal thermal stress. The measurement of temperature and humidity values took place from 1.1.2022 to 31.3.2022, which took place on the Moulis farm. Subsequently, the measured results were evaluated using graphs that show the course of temperature and humidity toge-ther with the temperature-humidity index.
Vyhodnocení emisí amoniaku z chovu drůbeže ve vybraném zemědělském podniku
HUCEK, Jiří
This diploma thesis deals with pollutants that escape into the air during intensive breeding of broiler chickens. The biggest polluter is ammonia gas, which mainly results in the creation of the greenhouse effect and thus contributes to global warming. Many scientists are working on ways to reduce this unwanted gas, and are therefore developing modern stables technologies for all types of livestock on intensive farms. The final work evaluates the production of emissions from broiler farming. In particular, the evaluation of the annual ammonia emissions and the reduction of the production of this gas in the selected agricultural holding. The measurement was performed at the private agricultural company ZEFA Nová Pec, spol. s r. o. in the broiler chicken farm, located near Strunkovice nad Blanicí.
Gastrointestinální parazité v polodivokém chovu exmoorských koní v rezervaci Mašovice v NP Podyjí
KLIMEŠOVÁ, Ludmila
The issue of parasites, whether internal or external, is one of the most important indicators of animal health and overall well-being. Exmoor ponies kept in semi-wild breeding are not regularly dewormed compared to horses in classic breeding. Thus, it is likely that the proportion of gastrointestinal parasites will be higher here. The aim of this work is to evaluate the state in the reservation of the former Mašovice shooting range in the Podyjí National Park. The hypothesis of this work is the determination of individuals with the highest infection, evaluation of seasonal dynamics of parasitic egg hatching within seasons and comparison with similar breeds.
