Diplomová práce “Hrdinové nové Rusi: Analýza archetypů postav v díle Alexeje Balabanova“ představuje život a dílo jednoho z nejpozoruhodnějších režisérů nové ruské kinematografie Alexeje Balabanova. Užitím kvalitativní obsahové analýzy pojednává o všech jeho celovečerních filmech, jak těch dokončených, tak i těch nedokončených, a soustředí se na archetypy hrdinů, které režisér/scenárista Balabanov ve svých dílech soustavně využívá. Kromě toho práce rovněž popisuje, jak se tyto archetypy v průběhu času měnily, stejně tak jako se Ruská federace měnila po pádu Sovětského svazu a jak Balabanov sám tyto změny vnímal, ať už ve svém životě či ve svém díle. Zjištěné poznatky práce dále zasazuje do širšího kontextu postaveného na národních, historických a kulturních aspektech tak, aby poskytla pro čistě subjektivní přístup slavného režiséra také ryze objektivní rámec.
VISUAL MEANS OF EXPRESSION IN SERGEI PARAJANOV‘ WORK

This bachelor theses are concentrated on Sergei Parajanov, one of the most distinctive film authors from the 20th century. With his unique author approach he created films which are very distinctive with their visual poetic. Thru analysis of the means of expressions of Parajanov core works, the theses focus on aspects which are typical mainly in visual means of expression and cinematography approach. The aim of this work is to show the uniqueness of the artistic vision of Sergei Parajanov and also of the film language he uses, which is the base of the most contemporary film productions.
The artistic approach to the film „inhabited island“ based on a novel by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky, a sci-fi film genre of russion cinematography.

The aim of this diploma thesis is the artistic and theoretical elaboration of the film of the genre of science fiction according to the book of Arkadije and Boris Strugacki. The thesis consists of two main parts, the theoretical and the own design of an art concept. The theoretical part deals with the definition of the science fiction genre, its historical development and also the analysis of creative approaches in the appearance of a foreign planet or the world of the future in Russian cinematography. I decided to analyze the variety of approaches in several selected films, where I focused on their art page, the use of the atmosphere and the film environment. The artistic part of the work contains its own art concept of the film.
Three Versions of Solaris

Diploma thesis deals with three forms of Solaris. Specifically with novel by Stanislaw Lem, a film adaptation of Andrei Tarkovsky and the second film adaptation of Steven Soderbergh. The aim of this work is comparison of individual authors practices that led to different semantic tone. Thesis analyzes six basic aspects of individual works: basis, genre, semantic structure, syntactic structure - a dramatic structure, characters and space-time.
Erotica in a puppet animated film

Eroticism and pornography in animated puppet film is a niche genre. Nevertheless, it deserves attention for its unique means of expression. The subject matter of this thesis is a reflection on the relationship between corporeality and the puppet in film. It also includes selected auteur independent films and their analysis, in which sexual behavior is the prevalent topic or which contain explicit erotic scenes. The puppet functions as a representation of human body; specifically, within the context of this thesis, of the body in erotic situations. The body of the puppet becomes a representation of our own body. With the emergence of new technologies, we can become a representation of the puppet, which in turn becomes a puppeteer, an animator. The principle of identification with the main protagonist is essential for interpretation of the role and function of the puppet in film. One of the key instruments of interpretation of the role of the puppet in film and understanding its function in film. The chosen theme is accompanied by definitions of key terms and a brief overview of legislation concerning pornographic animated film.
Film as an organism and as a machine

Abstract The thesis focuses on comparsion of theoretical aproaches of Sergei Eisenstein, Dziga Vertov and Andrei Tarkovsky, as a three completely different positions on a scale between organic and mechanic film. Each of these positions has its own specific temporality, according to editing method used by the artist: Eisenstein's dialectic montage in the mode "human-nature", Vertov's dialectic montage in the mode "eye-material", and Tarkovsky's antidialectic montage of self-generating film structure based on time pressure within the shots.

In this diploma thesis I summarize and analyze information about cinematographers of the 70`s and 80`s of the 20th century. I deal with the basics of theory in the context of the period, as well as artistic relationships, and detailed analysis of specific films, with the target to explain the innovative visual procedures established in this period in Russia. I aim to show the influence of the unique production of the period on todays work by analyzing given means of expression.
