Barriers to the emplyment of previous drug users and their employability in the labour market
Jakešová, Ivana ; Běláčková, Vendula (advisor) ; Pavlíček, Tomáš (referee)
This thesis deals with the reintegration of persons recovering from drug addiction and their return to the labour market. The reintegration model is chosen by social company, Café Therapy, one of the first social enterprises to focus specifically on the re-employment of individuals. The main goal of this work is to analyse how successful the company has been, in terms of social effectiveness and self-sufficiency and whether or not the funds invested return by way of the tax system. The objective is to evaluate the effectiveness of this particular social business. It also outlines the recommendations arising from the results of the findings. This work is mainly based on the theory of social exclusion, which can be defined as exclusion from social and economic way of life of society. Therefore, reintegration into society and the labour market is regarded as the main prerequisite to recovery. Concluding, attention is paid to active substance users and opportunities for clients to not only help themselves, but society as a whole.
The Issues of Employing Disadvantaged Groups on the Labour Market
Strnadová, Magdalena ; Stříteský, Marek (advisor) ; Cipra, Tomáš (referee)
The subject of the bachelor's thesis is the issue of the employment of disadvantaged groups on the labour market, primarily focusing on the employment of former prisoners on the Czech labour market. The first part of this paper discusses the importance of work in people's lives and the contribution work makes to a functional society, and defines the issues confronting that specific disadvantaged group. The second part is divided into two partial and one main objective. The two partial objectives are firstly to examine, based on analyses, the key aspects of the main problems facing former prisoners in the Czech Republic, and secondly to provide an overview of the support that such people can use to gain a foothold in the labour market. These are then followed by the main objective, which is to explore the main benefits and drawbacks of employing such people, perceived from their respective employer's point of view, and the standpoint of employers with regard to this disadvantaged group.
Homelessness in the Czech republic: Present and future possibilities of reintegration for homeless people
Kostelecká, Karolína ; Prachař, Ondřej (advisor) ; Sunega, Petr (referee)
This Bachelor Thesis is focused on the possibilities of reintegration for homeless people and the government's approach to the homelessness issue. Analysis of the current possibilities of reintegration brings results that support for homeless is provided mainly by non profit-making organizations, eg. Naděje, Nový prostor or Armáda spásy. Homeless people have an opportunity to use the services of shelters. They can achieve earnings as workers in the social firms, community work, or sheltered employment. Based on the comparison of the newly introduced Strategy for Preventing and Tackling Homelessness in the Czech Republic by 2020 with the approach to the homelessness issue in Finland and Canada this thesis recommends especially to target measures to the most affected areas of homelessness and to reassess financing. Comparison of selected countries brings the finding that Canada has the highest proportion of homeless people in the total population and Finland has the largest expenditures on homelessness issue.
Identity, lifestyle, and motivation of change lifestyle of homeless youth
MAREK, Jakub
The dissertation "Identity of young homeless person, its lifestyle and its motivation to change it" presents part of the results of the research grant "Psychosocial determinants of homelessness of young people", in which I contributed with Professor Vágnerová. The complete results can be seen in a monograph entitled "Homelessness as alternative existence of young people"(Vágnerová, Csémy, Marek, 2013). The dissertation attempts to describe homelessness as a process consisting of three parts. The first part ("pre-homelessness") follows primary factors of homelessness which means one person's "downfall"resulting in life on the street and reasons of homelessness. The second part ("in-homelessness") follows secondary factors that keep one person in the status of homelessness. The third part of the process ("post-homelessness") follows the reintegration process and tertiary factors which are barriers in the reintegration process. This division is being distinguished in both the theoretical as well as in the practical part. The theoretical part is divided into brief description of psychological theories, which may explain behavior of homeless people and into results of foreign research, which deal with the homelessness of young people. In the practical part we primarily follow descriptive quantitative part, which quantitatively describes life of homeless people. In the qualitative part, which is based on analysis (inspired by the Grounded Theory) of stories of former homeless people, I put together an adaptation and reintegration model of young homeless people. The findings of the quantitative part show that results of foreign research are similar to our research sample, except for some details (especially when it comes to U.S. population). The findings of the qualitative analysis discovered that respondents go through a negative impulse (devaluation of lifestyle) and through a positive impulse (discovery of a value outside of homelessness), through discovery of options how to reach this value, and how to obtain ability and skills to reach a change.
Rehabilitation and reintegration of people conditionally released from prison.
VALÍČKOVÁ, Světlana
Abstract The extensive name of this thesisResocialization and Integration of Conditionally Released People from an Imprisonment means here monitoring of these people experience with getting job and potential employers willingness and causes which defend their admission to work. The theoretical part is divided into five chapters, where I try to clarify the important key words , describe a preparation for resocialization and integration in prison , deal with a status and opportunities of prisoners´ employment in the Czech Republic. I show the statistic as well as state organizations and NGOs care and help offers for conditionally released people. Finally I introduce some of reintegration and resocialization projects in the Czech Republic in conclusion of the theoretical part. The empirical part includes the research itself and it is divided into two parts. I performed the first one on the research sample of six conditionally released people under the probation supervision using qualitative research method, method of questioning and semi-standardized interview technique. Because of my interest of employers attitudes to former prisoners employment, I made the research with 20 employers from Prachatice region using the same methods and technique. The main goal of this research was to find former prisoners´ expectations dealing with getting job. The results showed, that these people expect assistance from family, friends, an labour office as well as from PMS or other organizations, e.g. NGOs. One of my research fractional aims was to find the expectations related to The Labour Office. The results showed nearly half of the respondents did not expect anything, however some of them expect the offer of retraining or vacancies. To find out willingness of employers to give a job to former prisoners was the goal of the second part of empirical research. The results of this research show that the vast majority of respondents would give a job to these people but only those positions, where the material responsibility is not required. This thesis shall provide insight into the problems of conditionally released people who try to find a job and integrate into society. On the other hand it shows potential employers and state or non-state organizations attitudes.
Homelessness - solving of the phenomenon in the context of residential services
ŠPERLOVÁ, Markéta
Homeless people create a specific subculture in our society. It's a matter of a negative phenomenon of which the society has a poor opinion coming often from a lack of information. There is a lot of ways helping to find solutions to this problem, in these days. First of all, in this bachelor's work, the terms of the subject are clarified, as well as the history and the general characteristics of homelessness. This work contains the current legislation and some chosen statistics indicators. It proposes possible solutions of homelessness in the Czech Republic, especially in the capital. Projects, conceptions and plans are mentioned as well as the systems of helping focusing on integration, independence and residential services. A list of some active organizations involved in helping this problem is included. The conclusion of the theoretical part is dedicated to the Salvation Army. After the theory comes the practical part. The branch of the Salvation Army named Centre of Social Services of Bohuslav Bures is presented here. It is the place, where my practical quest was done. The purpose of this quest was to figure out if the social and residential services of the Centre of Social Services of Bohuslav Bures are sufficient to allow their adepts to integrate completely to the ordinary society. The information is provided from the users of the asylum themselves. The investigation covers up the services of the centre that should respond to the real needs of its users. The chosen situations of particular people from my quest were considered from an angle of a larger scale of time. Questions were based on the indicators of the past, the present and the future. In order to get information I chose the method of qualified approach and the study of particular cases. A partly structured dialogue was the main technique in which seven clients engaged. We first defined the problem to deal with. It was the effectiveness and the influence of provided services in the asylum. Then we specified the main question and other partial questions of the inquiry. Obtained data was noted, analysed and interpreted in order to provide an answer to the questions of the inquiry. The practical part carries a record of a dialogue with one of the social workers of the Salvation Army Centre of Social Services of Bohuslav Bures provided for my quest as a part of it. The quest showed the asylum thanks to the extent of its services enables homeless people to integrate back into our society. Some other recommendations were stated. The goal of the quest was achieved.

Possibilities of Activation of a Client Set at Liberty from Imprisonment from the Point of View of a Social Worker
LUDÍNOVÁ, Ivanka Anna
As a subject-matter of my bachelor's thesis I have chosen "Actuation possibilities for a person released after serving the imprisonment sentence (SIS) in a social worker's view", because the theme is so actual in respect of the number of the imprisoned and the urgent need to motivate such clients towards active cooperation with social workers in order to succeed in their reintegration to our society. The bachelor's thesis is divided into two parts. Within the theoretical chapter, I am defining key terms and latest approaches which are both the most current in the field of social services and welfare, and essential for the research pursuit. I also deal with the hottest issues of people recently experiencing the SIS, their characteristics, life situation and the imprisonment impact on their personalities. In other chapters, I address to particular activities of social curators, their scope of work and tasks being applied upon treatment of clients released from prison after SIS. As for the elaboration of the research chapter of this bachelor's thesis and the accomplishment of stipulated objectives, a quantitative observation/questioning survey is used. The original and main aim of my bachelor's thesis has been to detect all needs of prospective clients, who are to be released from prison after serving the imprisonment sentence in near future, while residing permanently in the territory of the Pilsen City, to find out more on potential difficulties of a social curator-client cooperation within their mutual continual work and post penitentiary care, and also, in terms of the ascertained needs of such clients including the mentioned collaboration risks, to recommend a practicable actuation process of a client released from prison after serving a sentence. Based on the specified objectives, two hypotheses have been formulated. The research section describes the initial goals of investigation, methodology and techniques chosen for gathering the required information, and I am describing the search sample and the execution of data acquisition, too. Furthermore, I focus on the data interpretation and last but not least the discussion over the interviewing results. The intention of my thesis is fulfilled. The assumption no. 1 cannot be confirmed at all while the second assumption has now been fully proved to be true. This approach could be used as a guideline for other colleagues ? social curators, and/or it might also broaden the awareness horizons of the laics and general public on this tough and complicated situation of the clients released from prison sentence along with a social curator's challenging job.
Social Including of Convicted Offenders Left from Prison
PROCHÁZKOVÁ, Andrea
The title of the thesis is Social Integration of People Released from the Prison. The theoretical part describes current situation concerning living conditions of the people sentenced to the prison, that are determined by legal standards in Czech Republic and by internal regulations of each jail house. These conditions form the personality of convicts and influence their social situation, relationships, and connections. The convicts need after the release to be helped with their integration into the society the most and also to be helped with handling their social situation to avoid recidivism. The aim of the diploma work is to describe problems of individuals released from the prison and the process of resocialization in detail. The thesis also provides the survey of possibilities for helping these people, thus service provided for people with inability to adapt to a society and types of facilities dealing with this target group. The practical part was conceived as the qualitative research in form of case studies using semi-structured interviews with the individuals released from the prison. I asked eight clients 28 questions in following categories: social situation of clients before the sentence, their life while imprisoned, their return to freedom and cooperation of the clients with institutions. There was also performed subsidiary quantitative research within the diploma work. I inquired social workers supervising released adults two questions, using e-mail correspondence. The questions were concerning the most frequent problems they had to deal with, after a client was released from the prison, and also services in Czech Republic{\crq}s system that workers missed in helping the target group. I outlined the comparison of the results coming out of my investigation with the current situation in related area, and also with other investigations at the end of my thesis. I recommend for improving the situation of the released individuals from prison to establish institutions with complete range of assistance, multi focused team, and the support in employing the people with criminal records as the high quality instrument of their social integration.
The work of Probation and Mediation Service with a group of people on parole and under police supervision
PRIMAKOVÁ, Martina
The present bachalor{\crq}s thesis titled The work of Probation and Mediation Service with a group of people on parole and under police supervision deals in detail with the activities of the said institution in the Czech Republic. Long-term sentence have no positive results, therefore alternatives are being sought, alternatives that would replace traditional forms of criminals´ punishments. A large contribution has been seen in activities carried out by the staff of Probation and Mediation service. Thanks to it, many of those condemned are allowed to accept another/alternative form of punishment apart from imprisonment. Theoretical part of the thesis gives an account of the activities performend by Probation and Mediation Service in the Czech Republic, it describes its origins, organizational structure, principles, objectives, and function. The thesis also dwells on some projects the Service is participating on and which are essential for reintegration of the people released from prison. The research part of the thesis presents a quantitative survey that employed a method of questioning using the technique of semi-standardized (semi-conducted) interview, and a method of content analysis using the technique of secondary data analysis. The surveyed group contained the total of 15 clients of Probation and Mediation Service in České Budějovice. The aim of this work was to find out whether the people released on perole have a chance to come back to their original family bacgrounds, if they can find jobs and shelters, the impact of the punishment on the family as a whole, the amount of information they have, and the positive and negative aspects they saw in being sentenced and sent to prison. The findings of the survey are as follows: If the prisoners released from prison heve a functional family background even befor they started their imprisonment, they are welcome to come back even after having been released from prison. Upon their release, they tend to find some dwelling and proper job. The least negative impact has been detected in connection with relations between parents and children, noticeably negative impact has been observed in connection with relationships between partners. The amount of economical information provided for people released from prison is insufficient. The positive aspects of imprisonment include lessons the prisoners learn from their mistakes, and tendency to emphasize family relations. The negative aspects of imprisonment include mainly damaged family relations, the loss of a close person, the feeling of life loos, and stigmatization.
