The Late Bronze Age in the region of Písek, Southern Bohemia
Pokorná, Kamila ; Bláhová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Smejtek, Lubor (referee)
The thesis presents the results of evaluation of archaeological finds from the two settlements in Písek (site "nemocnice") and Topělec. Both settlements are dated to the Late Bronze Age. With respect to the fact that only Late Bronze Age sites of smaller extent have been evaluated and published in South Bohemia so far, the studied settlements offer a more complex view on the composition of ceramic finds in this period and region. Both sites provide ceramic finds analogous to those from Central and Wes Bohemia, however, they do not differ significantly from other South Bohemian sites.
Moon-shaped idols of the Late Bronze Age and the Early Iron Age in Bohemia and their position in the European context
Mazač, Zdeněk ; Bláhová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Slabina, Miloslav (referee)
Moon-shaped idols constitute very specific and variable category of ceramic, in rare cases also of stone artefacts. Beginning of their occurrence and spreading in the middle Europe can be associated with the Middle-Danube and North-Alpine Urnfield culture. Their development consequentially continues in the Early Iron Age when they spread outside central European region down to the north east of Spain and the north of Italy. The current total number of findings is higher than estimate from 2004, which was approximately 2000 pieces. The main objective of the thesis lay in overall processing of results of the research up to now concerning the given issue. At the same time there was an attempt made about critical assessment of the artefact features and the excavation environment with regard to the potential function of the Moon-shaped idols. The excavation environment of these products is quite variable. As a rule they appear in settlements as secondary refuse, but also in the situations, which can be considered as demonstration of cult behaviour. In northeast France and south Germany, parts of Moon- shaped idols are to be found also in context of the final Bronze Age. From there the custom is spread in a modified form to the east. Such equipped graves can be noticed in the burial sites of Bylany and...
The Final Bronze Age settlement at Hulín-"U Isidorka"
Macháčková, Barbora ; Bláhová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Fojtík, Pavel (referee)
The present thesis shows results of an analysis of Urnfield culture settlement findings, which were obtained during an archeological excavation in 2004-2005 in Hulín - "U Isidorka". The settlement has only been partially documented. The main features of the thesis are an evaluation and interpretation of the excavated settlement pits and material archeological findings, particularly pottery. The settlement dates back to the Late Bronze Age - to the periods from HB2 to HB3, the documented area appears to be mainly used for storage purposes. In appendices, the thesis includes tables with pictorial data, a catalogue of the objects, a extract from a databade of ceramic fragments, a description of loam and photographs.

Univerzita Karlova v Praze Filozofická fakulta Ústav pro klasickou archeologii Věra Klontza (Jaklová) Studie k historickým interpretacím pozdní doby bronzové v Egejdě Late Bronze Age in Aegean: Study in Historical Interpretations ABSTRACT OF THESIS Vedoucí práce: Prof. PhDr. Jan Bouzek, DrSc. 2013 Abstract This dissertation deals with the main problems of historical interpretation of Late Bronze Age Aegean prehistory. Each chapter presents what is usually discussed as a special issue in contemporary bibliography. The environment of the region, its development and changes and the main approaches to enviromental studies are characterized in the introductory chapters. The chapter dedicated to the history of research, is of particular importance; "The truth of how archaeologists make discoveries, however, is far from the popular notion of random encounters and chance finds. We must take the time to examine the personalities and events leading up to these discoveries." (MacGillivray 2000, 11). The first issue to be dicussed is that of the absolute chronology of the early phases of the East Mediterranean, in particular the Aegean, Late Bronze Age. The resolution of this problem is crucial if synchronicity of events in individual regions, not only in the Mediterranean basin but also across Europe, is to be...
Analysis of ceramics from the Early and Late Bronze Age site in Praha - Chodovec
POKORNÁ, Kamila
The present work aims to partially assess the ceramic material recovered from the Early and Late Bronze Age site in Praha - Chodovec. Due to the large amount of ceramic material obtained from the entire site, the work deals only with the fragments of ceramic vessels recovered from objects 60, 69, 245 and 289. The analysis of ceramic fragments is based on a descriptive system designed by O. Chvojka. The main purpose of ceramic fragment analysis is to provide accurate dating of individual objects.
