The Technology of Subtitles in Films and other Media
Solubility control of biodegradable starch-based packaging
Krobot, Štěpán ; Ondreáš, František (referee) ; Lepcio, Petr (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the preparation and testing of biodegradable films based on starch. The aim of the thesis is laboratory preparation of foils based on various types of starch, glycerol, polyvinylalcohol and with the addition of plasticizer – citric acid. Four different types of starch and two types of polyvinyl alcohol were used. In the first series of samples, the ratio of added glycerol to starch content was varied. Samples in the second series were prepared in the same ratios, but with different PVA. A citric acid solution was added into the last series of samples. The second aim of the thesis, after pressing the films, was to determine their solubility and stability in aqueous media depending on the ratio between added glycerol to starch content, the type of polyvinylalcohol used, and the addition of citric acid to the mixture. It has been found that citric acid appears to affect the chemical structure of the films and thus their solubility in aqueous media as well as their mechanical properties. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) was used to study the structure of the films and to elucidate its effect on solubility.
Processing optimalization of biodegradable starch based packaging and its characterization for adaptation on production technology
Krahulová, Veronika ; Ondreáš, František (referee) ; Lepcio, Petr (advisor)
This diploma thesis focuses on the problematics of preparation of biodegradable starch based packaging. The aim of the thesis is to optimize the preparation and verify the characteristics for further adaptation and production technologies. The films consisted of starch, PVA and glycerol. Four types of starches, three types of PVA and different ratios of glycerol were tested. Films were prepared by casting with glycerol as a plasticizer, instead of distilled water, to reduce the energy cost of the preparation. The mechanical properties of the films were tested as well. The experimentally determined values of elongation at break and tensile strength of the wheat starch films were compared with a semiempirical model. Results revealed that the preparation of thermoplasticization of starch with glycerol leads to a considerable increase in elongation at break but at the same time to a marked decrease in tensile strength compared to the preparation from solution. The rheological properties of the prepared films were also investigated. Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) were used to study the structure of the films.
The Analysis of Product Placement in Movie - James Bond
Bartalová, Jana ; Kruml, Milan (advisor) ; Jirák, Jan (referee)
The aim of this diploma thesis, entitled "The Analysis of Product Placement in Movie: James Bond", is primarily a quantitative and qualitative content analysis of five films, specifically those featuring Daniel Craig as Agent 007. Due to his announcement of the end in this longest running and most successful film franchise in history, I decided to conduct a comprehensive analysis of product placement, as it is very important to this film and one of the most significant if you say product placement in filmmaking. So, this is specifically an analysis of Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre and No Time to Die. The first part is devoted to product placement as such its definition, history, types, advantages and disadvantages or regulation. The second part contains information about the origin of James Bond, its creator Ian Fleming, the predecessors in the film franchise and the style of Agent 007. The third section is devoted to the individual films, and includes the names of the filmmakers and cast, the content of the film, and the curiosities and brands that appear in the film. The fourth section is a quantitative analysis that looks at the portrayal of product placement in the plot of the film and includes information on which brand or industry appears most often or the total minutes...
Semiosphere and mythological niveau of commercially most successful movies
Senjuková, Tereza ; Šoltys, Otakar (advisor) ; Dominik, Šimon (referee)
The diploma thesis is focused at mythology of the current myths and basic semiotic features that appear in these films. It analyses and uncovers mythological structures that create a platform for the mores, and derives conclusions about the present society. It chose 30 most successful movies as a muster to analyze. It is divided in two main parts; the first one is focused at mythological aspects. Firstly, it describes the most frequent myths that appear in the majority of the analyzed movies. In the next chapters, it analyzes briefly some specific movies and points out their most distinct features. The second part is focused at semiotic features that are used by the film makers and tries to explain their meaning. The last part of the diploma thesis compares the Euro-American film production with that of Asia (especially China).
Application of User Ratings Prediction Methods for The Film Recommendations
Major, Martin ; Kruliš, Martin (advisor) ; Eckhardt, Alan (referee)
The aim of this work is to explore recommender systems for prediction user's future film ratings according to their previous ratings. Author will describe available algorithms and compare their results with his own algorithm. The goal is to find algorithm with the highest prediction accuracy and find the most important parameters for a good predictions.
