This diploma thesis deals with distribution network optimization of chosen company with application of operation research methods. Theoretical part is focused on logistics, operational research, linear programming, travelling salesman problem and programming language JavaScript. The aim of this thesis is to project optimal solution of distribution network using Mayer's method and software STORM. In the conclusion is made final costs comparison of the optimal and the existing solution.

This thesis deals with the implementation and testing of algorithm Ant Colony Optimization as a representative of the family of bio-inspired opti-mization methods. A given algorithm is described, analyzed and subsequently put into context with the problems which can be solved. Based on the collec-ted information is designed implementation that solves the Traveling sale-sman problem. Implementation contains graphical user interface to track the algorithm. Implementation is further optimized using parallel programming and other methods. Finally the implementation compared and summarized results.

Optimization of meter reading route

This thesis deals with the creation of software that will calculate and display the optimized route. The aim was to create software running on the Windows operating system. The basic purpose of the application is to find the most suitable route for the movement of workers, to visit all entered places.

An optimization of messenger services

Logistics industry has experienced a great development in recent years and messenger companies are becoming increasingly huge competitor to mail order companies specializing in express shipping. This work defines such terms as traveling salesman or messenger, compares the leading messenger companies in Prague and it is mainly dedicated to Messenger a.s. The main goal of this work is the answer the question whether it is possible to optimize the route of messenger via software and what methods to use for the solving. The VBA application in MS Excel was developed for these purposes. It uses the optimization software Lingo for solving.

Travelling salesman problem and method GENIUS

The target of this thesis is to explain the Travelling Salesman Problem and also create a special program, which will be able to make calculations using the heuristics GENIUS. The Travelling Salesman Problem will be described from two different points of view. The first one is the historical description of the idea of the Travelling Salesman Problem and later will be the problem will be described with some of the very wide number of the calculation methods. For the explanation of the methods, in the thesis there has been chosen some of the algorithms which belong to that methods. The heuristics and also the exact algorithms will be explained. The focus of this thesis is on the heuristics called GENIUS and also in the creation of the program which can calculate it. The program works first with the GENI algorithm and after that it works with US post-optimization algorithm. The program will be described from the point of view of the user and the manual will be written as well. The program will be tested on two different examples and will be compared with the exact algorithm.
