Intimate norms of beauty by women. Depilation and modification of body hair on the example of Czech women.
Greňová, Martina ; Korecká, Zuzana (advisor) ; Štěpánová, Irena (referee)
Martina Greňová: Ženské intimní normy krásy. Depilace a úprava tělesného porostu na příkladu českých žen. FF UK 2011 The author searches for reasons for the body hair removal and its modifications. As the base she uses an analyse of the media and literature and her research among Czech women. The paper emanates, that certain subjects try to define norms of body hair removal. These norms are presented in medical and cosmetical literature, in magazines, internet articles, films, adverts, in the language and in the folklore. Accordingly the normative subjects are doctores, cosmeticians, editors and authors of magazines, participants of internet discussions, film makers and producers of cosmetic products. Nevertheles women participate on the creation of norms too. The author postulates some attitudes, how the hair removal is perceived and presented: as hygienical and medical, as dichotomy of human and animal (nature vs. culture), as dichotomy of feminity and masculinity, as an attribute of maturity, as an esthetic aspect. Most of the women remove hair from their bodies. Young women "shave" more , but the difference between the generations is not that big. Yet a vast difference exists between the age of todays teenagers when they started removing (on an averge of 12 years) and the older generations (at 24 years)...

Basic human values in the environmental education of nursery school children
MELOUNKOVÁ, Jana
The topic of this work are the basic human values, which can be pre-school children familiarized with through environmental education. Environmental education and the definition of the basic human values follows after physical, psychical and social characteristics of the pre-school age. The methodology of pre-school education, which outlines the basic human values to children through environmental education, is based on the explanation of the key terms. The aim of this work was to verify the possibility that, even though the education plan is based on the focus on the basic human values in environmental education, it still follows the demand for the general development of pre-school children. The work was also focussed on a question whether a new dimension in this field of values can be found in the pre-school age.
Aesthetization of design
KLIMT, Michal
The student will focus on domination of aesthetic parts in design. This tendency is reflected by Czech colloquial terms too. The word "dizajnový" is used for a nice thing in contemporary language. There is a current state of design where aesthetic parts of design exceed practical parts. This reductional level is used and strengthened by massmedia (Designboom, Wallpaper etc.) and art galleries (e.g. DOX, GASK in the Czech Republic and Guggenhem museum and MoMA in foreign countries). It looks that the aim of design is beautification of things. That is thanks to the rising influence of aesthetics in vast majority fields of design. But isn´t the consequence of this, simplifying or depreciation of the meaning of the term design?
A Concept of Beaty in Jan Mukařovský's and Sptephen Coburn Pepper's Writings

The bachelor thesis deals with a survey of the nature and the reason of these changes in the work of two significant aestheticians: Jan Mukařovský and Stephen Coburn Pepper. The base of the thesis lies in comparison of both concepts of beauty.
Objective and Subjective Cognition of Beauty in the Writings of St. Thomas Aquinas.
FLEISCHMANN, Dan
This thesis deals with the objective and subjective cognition of beauty by a scholastic philosopher Thomas Aquinas. The initial chapters provide historical sources and a source of St. Thomas´s beauty, because beauty was not the main topic of theology and philosophy in the Middle Ages. From the definition of beauty, we know that beauty belongs to the cognitive power, thus next chapters present the activity of the senses and reason, by which we recognize beauty. (Pulchrum autem respicit vim cognoscitivam). This cognitive power results in the objective characteristics of beauty, ie.: a) integrity; b) proportion; c) clarity.) The penultimate chapter justifies the importance of knowledge of objective and subjective beauty, from which it follows in us enjoyment (delectatio et amor). If there is a reason to evaluate the knowledge and principles relating to the beauty, there is a necessary overlap present knowledge such as science. The final chapter addresses the interesting question of modern science - aesthetics: "Whether beauty, as written by Thomas Aquinas, is a specific distinct transcendental or only implicit transcendental initiated by the philosophers of the 20th century?" The thesis tries to show the importance of studying medieval philosophy in shaping topics such as beauty and art.
The Spiritual Dimension of the Landscape and its history as a means of education for children in the Out of School Care And Recreation (OSCAR)
RAMDANOVÁ, Jitka
The theoretical part of this thesis deals with the relation between the spiritual dimension of a landscape and spiritual growth of a child. It draws on psychological research of younger school children, concentrates on communication and group behavior of children. It further draws on discoveries of pedagogy of free time, especially in the environment of a school club. From the spiritual point of view, it tracks the overlap of humans and landscape; it examines their relationship and interaction, concentrates on specifics of value in connection with the transcendent and the projection of these specifics into a landscape that surrounds us. This projection helps us to understand not only the organization and appearance of this landscape in time but also the inner landscape of our soul. This thesis focuses on the landscape in the very heart of Premyslid Central Bohemia. The practical part of this thesis consists of two concepts for creative work in a school club. These two concepts aim to help to develop children spirituality, their enrichment through experience and creativity, help to develop social competences of children and prevent psycho-social problems through various activities reflected in a group of children working together. These activities include group visits of churches, chapels, crosses, commemorative crosses and stones, quells, wells and bells and ensuing search of values in our inner selves. The practical part of this thesis stresses the importance of creativity in children, looks for possible topics of its development within the framework of activities organized by a school club.
