Ethical Problems and Dilemmas in the Work of Officials at the Social Departments of Municipalities
LUDÍNOVÁ, Ivanka Anna
As a subject-matter of my bachelor's thesis I chose "Ethic issues and dilemmas upon the public officers' work within Social Services and Welfare Departments at Local Authority Offices of Czech municipalities", because I had considered the theme to be more than actual since such topics appear within the public administration activities all the time and each officer is then forced to sort these dilemmas and issues out as a part of their everyday work. Solving such problems is quite demanding job not only for the officers themselves, but also within all areas of human life. The bachelor's thesis was divided into two parts. As for the theoretical chapter, I defined key terms and definitions concerning the field of ethics by which the decision-making process of each officer is affected significantly, and which were essential for the research pursuit. I also dealt with the ethical theories which influence the social work a lot, the ethic codes were included as well as their functions together with their utility for public officers. I addressed to particular ethic issues and dilemmas connected with the social work in the following chapters. As for the elaboration of the research chapter of this bachelor's thesis and the accomplishment of stipulated objectives, a quantitative observation ? questioning survey ? was used. The original aim of my bachelor's thesis had been to detect all needs of relevant officers in the city of Pilsen regarding their further education within the area of professional ethics, and to find out whether they have to resolve such ethic issues and dilemmas upon their deciding. Based on the specified objectives, two hypotheses were formulated. The research section described the initial goals of investigation, methodology and techniques, which I had chosen for gathering the required information, while I described the search sample and the execution of data acquisition, too. Furthermore, I focused on the data interpretation and last but not least the discussion on the interviewing results. The intention of my thesis was fulfilled: the first assumption could not have been confirmed at all while the second assumption had been fully proved to be true. This approach can be useful upon preparation of further education for public officers within the social sphere, especially in connection with their abilities to cope with ethic-related troubles and situations which the officers in question have to face every single day.

Religious believe as a motivation of a health and social care professional
TALICHOVÁ, Jana
A topic of my bachelor thesis is "Christian faith as a motivation for a social work". The social work as an independent discipline detached only in the 19th century. Though, it is possible to say that an interest in the welfare of the others and an effort to help them in emergency situations were provided for many centuries before its emergence, and primarily by Christian communities. An aim of this thesis is to identify personal attitudes of social workers to the faith and religion and then to determine their incentives to pursue the profession of the social work. The theoretical part has been focused on a history of Christianity in the world and in this country and it emphasizes the situation in its development, which contributed to a solution of social problems. Further the thesis deals with a topic of a Christian love in its widest dimension and with an emergence of a charity. It does not forget, however, neither the social work, its objectives, social workers and their code of ethics. I chose a quantitative research for an implementation of the practical part. The exploratory part of the thesis uses a questionnaire survey as a technique for the data gathering and a secondary data analysis to compare the results. The research sample consisted of social workers practicing their profession in the town of České Budějovice. The control sample was composed of people from the general population working in the same town. Two working hypotheses were created for the research. The first hypothesis was not confirmed: There are more religious people among workers in the social sphere than in the general population. The second hypothesis was not also confirmed: For the religiously-based workers in the social area the religious faith belongs among essential elements of the motivation to pursue their profession. The research shows that there are not more religious people among workers in the social sphere than in the general population. The motivation elements of religiously-based social workers are in the highest percentage representation. "A need to help", "A joy of working with people" and "A meaningful work". The faith as a motivation factor appears only at two respondents out of 41 believers. I believe that the aim of the thesis by carrying out this research has been met. The bachelor thesis can be used to teach students in fields relating to the social work, for an understanding of the religious dimension when working with people and in a personal life.
Philosophical justification of human diginity
NOVÁKOVÁ, Lucie
Philosophical justification of human dignity In the 20th century the transformation into the information society took place. The development of information technologies has brought enormous freedom, on the other hand a decline of the institution of family has quickened rapidly, the character of mutual relations in the society has changed. Thus contemporary science interferes in human naturalness. In the field of medicine technologies which enable lengthening of human life have been developed; however, this evokes the question of dignity of life like this. Current conception of human dignity is also affected by a number of recent tragedies. Consequently a huge development of protection of human rights attempting to prevent such situations in the future has taken place. Respecting human dignity is the basis of the profession of health and social workers, who together with other groups and organisations help disabled people. The project of home artificial pulmonary ventilation (DUPV) is intended for severely handicapped citizens who are dependent on a respirator for the whole life. The aim of my work was mapping the attitudes of DUPV to their own dignity. The research was carried out by a qualitative method; the monitored group consisted of seven DUPV respondents who were chosen by random sampling and by "snow ball sampling". As a method of data collection used a biographic dialogue, followed by standardized asking of 20 questions concerning the determined research questions. Based on the results of individual dialogues the casuistries were formed, obtained data were summarised in charts and tables. Three research questiond were determined: 1.How severely handicapped people with DUPV perceive their dignity? 2.Which non-material factors support dignified life of DUPV patients? 3.Which material factors improve the quality life of DUPV patients? All these questions were answered by the research. We want to mediate the results of the work to professionals, especially to the Centre for DUPV in Brno. The respondents, too, will be sent the results of our research and information from thechapter dealing with social security as well as the contacts with helping organisations.
