QUESTIONS OF SAFETY IN THE INSTITUTIONS INTENDED FOR WATER HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES
KADLECOVÁ, Jana
``Water-related injuries{\crqq} are the second most frequent cause of death of children in the Czech Republic. My thesis addresses the issue of safety in facilities designed for aquatic leisure activities. Within the scope of the qualitative research with the aim to analyze technical standards, to ascertain their observance and afterwards to analyze the injury risks I used the data collection technique consisting in secondary data analysis, observation in combination with photographic documentation and semi-standardized interviews. For the research I selected a swimming pool in České Budějovice and Aquaviva Wellness Centre in Aurora Třeboň spa. The reason for this selection was creation of a pilot study monitoring safety in these facilities in South Bohemia. The Czech Republic has technical standards in place that are applied to minimize the risk of injury to the largest possible extent in facilities like that. They determine the procedures that have to be observed during construction and subsequent operation of facilities designed for aquatic leisure activities. The provisions defined by the standards are observed in both facilities but in their substance they are so generalized that it is only at the operators{\crq} discretion to what extent the safety is to be secured by them. They should be more specified and applied concretely to individual units of the equipment in order to create a safe environment. As far as risk places in the facilities are concerned, it may be stated that, regardless of compliance with the requirements defined by the standard, there is a large number of risks related in particular with slippery surfaces. Within the scope of the safety evaluation, it is also necessary to take account of hazardous behaviour of users of the chutes. The results of the research indicate that in Aquaviva Wellness Centre in Třeboň safety is secured and complies with the requirements of technical standards and the prevention requirements; the swimming pool in České Budějovice shows more serious defects {--} the standards are complied with but the surfaces are not covered with materials that would secure safety. On the basis of my research and other technical studies that confirmed seriousness of water-related injuries it is obvious that the issue of injuries in this field will require modification of safety measures and more precise specification of standards and thus elements such as materials of surfaces that would secure the required safety.
Drinking Schedule of South Bohemian University Students
POSPÍŠILOVÁ, Lucie
The topic {\clqq}Drinking Schedule`` is a question under debate. Although many people do not observe the drinking schedule. The thesis includes the summary of observations of the drinking schedule, health effects, dehydration beginning, body fluid physiology, water intake and output, nonalcoholic and alcoholic drink usability. The research part of the thesis surveys the state of a given problem of the drinking schedule by South Bohemia University students.
Seasonal variability in isotopic signature of leaf water and related water compartments. An ecophysiological perspective.
PLAVCOVÁ, Lenka
Stable isotope composition of bulk leaf water is a useful proxy for geochemical and biological processes and is, thus, appreciated in ecological research and global modelling. The mechanisms determining the abundance of different isotopes in leaf water are not fully understood. The research presented in this thesis aimed to describe variability in leaf water isotopes which occurs under natural conditions and to distinguish which factors generate such variability. For that purpose, field sampling, water extraction, stable isotope analysis and measurements of several additional environmental and physiological characteristics were carried out at one sampling site during three subsequent growing seasons. The results obtained point out that oxygen isotopes rather then hydrogen isotopes have greater potential to be used in higher scale applications. Apart from that, several interesting ecophysiological interpretations of isotopic data have been made.
The drinking regime at elevated bodies burden by the recretional form of fitbox
ŠIMOTOVÁ, Jaroslava
The work is dealing with the drinking habits in the recreational form of fit-boxing. The specifics of the drinkling habits are thoroughly described in the theoretical part of the work. The characteristics during heavy physcial endurance as well as the importance of drinking habits are defined here. The drinking habits of active fit-boxers is monitored in the practical part. These habits are then compared with a group of non-active people with sitting or non-movement jobs. From the practical examination it is obvious that those active involved in the fit-boxing have higher consumption of liquids and superior drinking habits with comparison to the group which is non-active.
Exploitation of the European funds in the process of elimination of effects
ULBRICHTOVÁ, Renata
The aim of my thesis is to analyze the usage of drawing the financial means from the EU funds intended for removing the consequences of floods in South Bohemia in 2002 and the interpretation of the flood protection intervention itself. The thesis is divided into three parts. In the first part floods are being defined in a common way and we are informed about several water management companies and flood forecast services. It also deals with the causes of the floods from 2002; attention is also given to the flood intervention measurement, mainly from the technical aspect. In the next part we are dealing with a brief presentation of pre-accession funds and then we enlarge upon EU structural funds. In this part we also point to the funds from which it is possible to draw financial means for removing bad consequences of natural catastrophes. The center of my thesis is a detailed analysis of the usage of drawing financial means from the EU. In the end we will assess the fruitfulness of the drawing on financial means from the EU within the individual programs.
Estimation of Tritium Activity in the River Vltavawith Respect to the Liquid Wastes from the Nuclear Power Plant Temelin.
ŠKOPEK, Petr
The main goal of this Thesis was to measure tritium activity in the Vltava River and in the vicinity of Temelín Nuclear Power Plant (hereinafter referred to as JETE) with the following objectives: Possibility to use the outlet of waste water damping unit (hereinafter referred to as VTOOV) as a control alerting system for nonstandard events in JETE, furthermore, monitoring of possible correlations between volume activity of tritium measured in VTOOV and activity above the limit value of the first quality class in selected sections of the Vltava River as well as comparison of the measured values with the results of other authors, and, finally, assessment of the relevance of the water quality estimated by the volume activity of tritium to the water quality according to other ingredients, i.e., stable isotopes of some metals and risk elements as well as general physical and chemical indicators. Theoretical part of the Thesis deals with radioactivity in general, activity of tritium, with regard to operation of nuclear plants, over the world and, especially, in the Czech Republic. The actual work consisted of collection of samples at predetermined places, preparation of these samples for measurement and measurement of tritium activity using scintillation spectrometer with liquid scintillator. Furthermore, basic chemical and physical properties of water, concentration of selected elements and also some anions were determined. The collected data were used for classification of waters from individual collection places into quality classes according to ČSN 75 7221. In all analyzed cases no activities were found which exceeded the limit values of liquid outlets from Temelín Nuclear Power Plant, given by regulations issued on waters by the District Health Office in Ceske Budejovice according to §8 of Act No. 138/73 Coll., in compliance with SÚJB requirements. This Thesis could be beneficial for possible utilization of VTOOV as a control alerting system for nonstandard events in JETE and also for assessment of impact of wastewaters from JETE on waters of the Vltava River.

Evaluation of water quality during year 2005 in stream Malše river.
TOMKOVÁ, Zdeňka
In this work is proved by evidence the course of changes in composition of water quality on the upstream of Malše river. The main purpose of this essay is also to work up device datas and value quality of water on the head water named Malše from years 2004/2005. These datas include elementary basic kations (Na, Mg, K, Ca), some heavy metals (Fe, Zn, Hg, As, Mn, Pb, Cr, Cd), main anions (Cl - , NO3 {--} - N, NO2 - - N, PO43- - P, SO42-, NH4+ - N) and datas benefit from terrain (pH, conductivity, temperature, oxygen of water and KNK4,5).
Design of the acoustic spectrometer for the measurement of the spectrum of cavitation bubbles in water and hydraulic oil
Müller, M. ; Zima, Patrik ; Maršík, František
The article deals with the design of the experiment for the measurement of the spectrum of cavitation bubbles in water and hydraulic oil. Bubbles of different sizes tend the attenuate most efficiently the excitant acoustic frequency, which is close to their own resonance frequency. The acoustic response of the flowing bubbles to several different excitation frequencies enables to determine the number density of bubbles. The result of the analysis is a system of integral equations. The solution of the systems yields the size spectrum of the bubbles.
