Flora of municipalities Janovice nad Úhlavou, Kolinec and Švihov (distr. Klatovy)
PETERKA, Kamil
The aim was to compare the representation of ruderal species in selected municipalities. These municipalities were Kolinec, Janovice nad Úhlavou and Švihov. Švihov village located about 11 km north of Klatovy on the left bank of the river Úhlava. Its peak was located about 9 km southwest of Klatovy, also on the left bank Úhlava . The village Kolinec then located about 20 km from Klatovy southeast, toward Sušici. In each of these villages were located the same 7 stations. Railstations, Water areas, Farms, Housing developments, Roads, Cemetary and Square.
Do the environmental organizations and scientists affect public opinion on an environmental issue?
SUCHOPÁR, Petr
People tend to build their own opinion according to the reputation of the speaker, presenting a given problem. The aim of this thesis was to find out if people pose the same attitude towards recultivation of an abandoned gravel pit, when being referred by: a) a scientist from the Academy of Science; b) a worker from an environmental organization. Based on the analyzed data, it can be concluded that the difference is significant and people tend to choose the same attitude as a scientist and on the other hand, tend to choose the opposite then environmentalist.
Amphibian habitat preferences in selected localities after mining moldavites.
NĚMEC, Stanislav
This thesis pursues amphibian biotop preferences in locations where moldavites were quarried in the past. Field work took place in two localities near Trhové Sviny. The first one is situated near the village of Slavče where an illegal extraction still occures,.The second locality is found by the village of Dobrkovská Lhotka. This locality was partially recultivated in 2010. The aim of this work was to establish which factors do influence different amphibian species in the both studied locations. There were found five various species of amphibians near the village of Slavče: the Common frog (Rana temporaria), the Edible frog (Pelophylax kl. esculentus), the European fire-bellied toad (Bombina bombina), the European tree frog (Hyla arborea) and the Common toad (Bufo bufo). The results were statistically evaluated. Based on them it was established that the Common frog prefers the herb layer, the European Fire-bellied toad prefers semi shaded medium sized pools that do not dry up. The European tree frog and the Edible frog prefer large areas of pools and ponds. More over the edible frog demands ponds that are partially overgrown. The Common toad was represented only with one single individual. Therefore a statistical analasys could not be executed. The whole locality is negatively influenced by local inhabitants who gather here manure and organic waste from their gardens. On locality located near to Dobrkovská Lhotka was transformed from a mining landscape to a pond and three pools. All amphibian species that lived in the locality before reclamation were still present here. Occurrence of Common spadefoot (Pelobates fuscus) was confirmed by the unique finding of a tadpole. Statistical evaluation was not conducted due to the small number and variability of monitored sites.
Vegetation inside the "Bohemian Forest" exhibition of the zoo Ohrada
FIALOVÁ, Alexandra
The first, theoretical part of my thesis is devoted to the history of zoological gardens, development of forests in the Czech Republic and forest ecosystems, simulated in the analyzed "Český les" exhibit of the Zoo Ohrada in Hluboká nad Vltavou. The exhibit is divided into sections, each representing a certain forest habitat. For each habitat I carried out a phytocenological relevé and calculated total cover, abundance and sociability values. I then compared these characteristics with the natural habitats of the zoo animals, especially in terms of their requirements and utilization. I proposed modifications aiming to increase attractiveness as well as information for visitors.
Long-term trends in fledging success of some Ardeidae
KRÁSOVÁ, Jarmila
I have searched 92 papers for data on reproductive parameters. I have used Generalized Linear Mixed Models to test factors affecting the mean number of fledged chicks of eight species of Ardeidae family. I have tested three factors: start year of the study, habitat and diurnal/nocturnal activity.
Habitat preferences of amphibians in Europe and abroad.
BLAŽKOVÁ, Zuzana
I have examined the current state of knowledge on the causes of worldwide amphibian declines, ephasizing their complexity. Furthemore I have revised the methodology of amphibian surveys and amphibian conservation status with implications for future work and improvement.
Revision of localities of Bombina bombina/B. variegata hybrid zone south of České Budějovice.
STRAKOVÁ, Helena
The goal of this paper was to revise the localities where the occurrence of fire-bellied toads was confirmed by earlier research. Specifically it covers the state of localities and a number of individuals, who inhabit them according to the previously found data. First of all I wanted to find out whether the floods which took place here or some other causes of the decline of amphibian population left some impact or if the localities are given some protectionist care. The revision was accomplished in several localities chosen from the works of Horak, Havelkova, and Stefka. I took picture of the places, measured the pH of the water and captured all the fire-bellied toads which could be found here. I documented everything photographically for identification and I took a sample of their tissue. Then I released toads again. Alltogether I revised 14 localities where the occurrence of some of the local kinds of fire-bellied toads was previously confirmed. Two of them can be considered defunct from the point of view of the occurence the amphibians. Another seven were repeatedly without any findings and therefore we can also consider them defunct. I would define three of the spots stable even though one of them went through a physical change and yet it shows a stable occurrence of the toads. One of the localities has changed very positively in terms of the occurence of the fire-bellied toads. It is also positive that we have found another new locality.
Arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis of herbaceous invasive neophytes in the Czech Republic
ŠTAJEROVÁ, Kateřina
I have studied arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis of 44 herbaceous invasive neophytes occuring in the Czech Republic. My results show that about 70% of the examined species are capable to form symbiotic association with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) in the field. To my knowledge, mycorrhizal status of 23 invasive species is reported here for the first time. I predicted, based on the hypothesis of Urcelay & Díaz (2003), that the intensity of AMF in the roots of invasive species will be correlated with that of the native dominant species of invaded plant community, but collected data did not support this hypothesis. In addition, the effects of habitat and community characteristics on the intensity of AMF colonization of the invasive species{\crq} roots were tested. My results show that, at the within-species level, plants in the habitats with higher light and temperature conditions have less colonized roots whereas intensity of mycorrhizal colonization increases with habitat moisture. At the among-species level, invasive species occurring in the habitats with elevated nitrogen availability have higher mycorrhizal colonization of their roots. The effect of nitrogen availability is revealed at the among-species level and stays significant even after phylogenetic correction, suggesting this is an evolutionary adaptation rather than a phenotypic plasticity.
Gradients of fish distribution in reservoirs
PRCHALOVÁ, Marie
Patterns of fish spatial distribution were studied in two Czech canyon-shaped reservoirs and in three Dutch basin-shaped reservoirs. Effects of environmental variables like habitat depth, slope, distance from the shore and distance from the dam were evaluated using multivariate statistics. Gillnet selectivity was also studied as fish were sampled using gillnets.
Floristic research of the Studenský creek and Lipnický creek basin at Studená (Javořická highlands)
HARTMANNOVÁ, Pavla
The thesis deals with the floristic research of the catchments of the Studenský brook and the upper reaches of the Lipnický brook. It is focused on natural biotopes, primarily on the wetland habitats. The aim is the characteristic of the biotopes, the complete list of higher plant species and the occurrence of protected, endangered and otherwise important plant species.
