Social Aspects of Hospice Care
FIALOVÁ, Markéta
This undergraduate thesis focuses on the social aspects of social care. The theoretical part clarifies and explains the relevant basic terms, in particular, terms like hospice care, palliative care, death, dying, social work, etc. In the practical part, I try, above all, to address the issue of satisfying the social needs of the clients of St. Jan N. Neuman Hospice in Prachatice. Another issue that led me to searching for an answer deals with hospices as providers of social services in accordance with Act No. 108/2006 Coll., on social services, and their obligations arising from being registered per se. My research was conducted using the method of questioning respondents in the form of semi-controlled interviews. The interviews took place at St. Jan N. Neuman Hospice in Prachatice. As for my research in the area of the clients{\crq} social needs, it was based on a research sample consisting of the hospice{\crq}s four female clients. For the sake of completion, some of my questions regarding mandatory obligations of registered hospices were addressed to the said hospice{\crq}s director and one of its employees who is a social worker. My research confirmed that the social needs of the clients of the hospice in Prachatice are being satisfied to the extent of possibility. As to fulfillment of their social needs, on accordance with the obligations arising from Act No. 108/2006 Coll., on social services, it can be stated that the scope of the mandatory commitment is being covered. In my opinion, the greatest problem is the emphasis, on the part of authorities, that is being put on the formal aspects of these issues, while hospices make maximum effort to satisfy their clients{\crq} needs in the first place. This undergraduate thesis focuses on the social aspects of social care. The Turnover of Personal Effects as a Nursing Staff's Problem
PEČENKOVÁ, Ladislava
The Turnover of Personal Effects as a Nursing Staff´s Problem The subject of death is part of life. For nursing staff, a very difficult and psychologically very demanding situation and part of their work is having to onform the next-of-kin that their relative´s life has ended. Conveying such news requires good ethical and communication skills on the part of the nurses. In addition to psychological stress, there are other aspects that have to be dealt with, e.g., communication as such, as well as proprietary and family relation with the next-of-kin. The objective of my research was to identify the problems that nursing staff members encounter when turning personal effects of the deceased over to the next-of-kin. With this objective in mind, I formulated my first hypothesis. The nurses´ primary problem during turnover of personal effects is communication. Secondly, I wanted to find out about the nurses´ preparedness for communication with next-of-kin and for turnover of personal effects. Finally, I wanted to see, whether the nurses needed anything to be able to handle the process adequately. For addressing the latter question, I created a second hypothesis. The nurses´ perception of the process of turnover of personal effects depends on the suitability of the environment. This undergraduate thesis is divided into two parts: a theoretical and a practical one. In the theoretical part, man´s death as well as care for the dying and the dead is described from historical and present-day perspective. Various rituals, legal steps, communication problems, and their effect on nurses are described. A quantitative survey was taken using the technique of hard-copy questiinnaires. The questionnaire was anonymous and contained 34 questions. It was addressed to the nursing staff in oncology, internal medicine, surgery, and geriatric hospital wards, as well as psychiatricasylums and homes for the elderly in the Vysočina and South-Bohemian Regions. The results of my survey refuted the first and confirmed the second hypothesis of mine. The thesis also myps the problems that nurses in these wards encounter most frequently. The nurses´ suggestions can be useful to managements of medical and social institutions seeking practical solutions for facilitating and improving the quality of the process of turning over the personal effects of he deceased.
Poetika deaf and dieing in traditional and presently Czech culture
SRPKOVÁ, Zdeňka
Death is regarded as the end of the life cycle of any living being, including humans. Death has still been made a taboo topic of a regular conversation. Understanding the finiteness of death in this context is differently perceived in different cultures and in different periods of society development. Czech culture as a part of the Central European civilization area has its specifics in understanding the death issue, which is reflected in all varieties of artistic creations. Therefore, the objective of this thesis was to determine the attitude of a selected population sample to the death issue from the ethical point of view, and if the artistic expression of death influences this point of view. Another goal of this thesis is to find out if people think about death, which causes their thoughts depressive, or if they consider death an integral part of life concerning all of us. The thesis consists of two parts {--} theoretical and practical. In the practical part, the method of quantitative research, the interrogation method using the questionnaire technique was applied. The data obtained from the questionnaires were evaluated and made into graphs. The results show that the hypothesis 1: ``I do not think of death, when death comes, it will be present. I would feel depressed thinking of anything like that{\crqq} was not confirmed. On the contrary, the hypothesis 2: ``Death is a matter of logic, accompanying life, and I have been trying to cope with this fact both in the case of my loved ones and my case{\crqq} was confirmed. After the analysis of the obtained data, the hypothesis 3: ``I have encountered a death expression in a work of art and I felt deeply touched{\crqq} was only partially confirmed. The respondents claimed that they had encountered such a work of art but left untouched, because they considered the expression of death only a part of the work, which also confirms the hypothesis 4: ``I consider an artistic expression of death as a part of the work, a mere intent of a writer or and artist, I am not concerned at all. The thesis could be used as an instrument to inform the general public and professionals on the impact of artistic creation on the view of a certain population sample on the death and dying issue.

Fear of Death, its Interdisciplinary Characteristic and Dialog Research Method
MUSILOVÁ, Magdalena
Fear of death is related to the way we live, affects individuals and affects the attitude of a whole society. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. In the theoretical part, a definition of concept of ethics and bioethics can be found as well as a discussion of the differing perceptions of the value of human life, basic information about euthanasia and the possibilities for palliative and hospice care. Furthermore, different views on the fear of death are noted as are presented by representatives of several areas - anthropologists, psychologists, theologians and sociologists. In the next part an interdisciplinary overview of the fear of death is compiled, which forms the theoretical basis for the practical part of the work. In this part a qualitative research was carried out through half structured interviews on fear of death. Comparing the results with outcomes from the theoretical part, it was found that death is a taboo topic in a society and that the fear of death is natural. In line with the used literature, most respondents have a great fear of the process of dying itself than of the death itself. From this point of view it was uncovered, that there is a relatively low awareness of the possibilities of palliative care between respondents.
