The bachelor thesis on a topic ?Current issues of crime committed against young people? deals in its theoretical part with basic information about the problems of crime. It explains psychological and legal standpoints to a concept of the youth, it describes international documents related to the issue and analyses perpetrators of these crimes. With regard to the aim of the thesis, it carries out an analysis of the new criminal law protection of young people effective from January 1st, 2010 with a brief comparison of a previous legislation and possible solutions (help to victims). The empirical part of the bachelor thesis contains objectives, hypotheses, a research method and characteristics of the research sample. The data collection was carried out by a method of a quantitative research using a questionnaire survey consisted of 15 questions. The research sample consisted of pupils from 6th to 9th classes (young people aged 11 ? 15 years) at two elementary schools in the district of Český Krumlov (Elementary School Velešín and Elementary School Linecká). The aim of the practical part was to find out in which representation men and women commit crimes against the young people, whether a victim knows an attacker or he/she is a very stranger. The research showed that among the perpetrators of crime committed against the young people the male population outweighs the female population. The perpetrator is in most attacks of an approximate age or from a close social environment of the victim. The bachelor thesis can be used as an informational material for school counsellors, parents and teachers of elementary and secondary schools.
Maltreated and abused children
HOUFOVÁ, Jana
According to the statistics there are forty thousand of battered and abused children in the Czech Republic. Maltreatment and abuse are not revealed in most cases and thus they accompany the children during their whole childhood. The reason is that children cannot defend themselves. The maltreatment or the abuse of a child is revealed only if somebody from the child?s neighbourhood observes anything suspicious and decides to report it, which is both a moral and a legal obligation. A person, who breaks this obligation to disclose such an offence, might be even awarded a criminal penalty. The objective of this paper is to survey the social environment of children in South Bohemia, where the abuse and maltreatment happen, to find out whether the objects of maltreatment and abuse are more often boys or girls, and also to find out, who is most often the oppressor or an offender. A partial objective of this paper is to explain basic terms of this issue. Recognition of CAN syndrome, surveying the regions with the highest rate of criminal offences committed against children, consequences and harmful effects of maltreatment and abuse and chances of a maltreated or an abused child to lead a full-valued life. The results of my work might help to social workers from the Social and Legal Children Protection Department in South Bohemia to reveal the criminal offences of child abuse. Social workers might focus more on the social environment of the abused children and at the same time on the offenders. This would increase the protection and professional help to the victims of these offences.

The author's focus is dedicated to the term definition of sexual child abuse, data and incidence of sexual abuse in context with other countries. Supported by viewpoint of other authors, a description of different views on sexual abuse of children is presented with specific forms of abuse (contact and non-contact). The third chapter deals with specific risk factors, related to children, the perpetrators (aggressors) and families. Autor´s focus is on the offender (deviant and non-deviant) and their degree of threat. The data is supported by research results published in the Czech Republic and statistical data from OSPOD MLSA. The last, fourth chapter is considered by the author to be of a great importance as it discusses the implications derived from sexual abuse in childhood. This traumatic experience may have crucial impact on further development and quality of life of the victim. Monitoring the Public Awareness of CAN Syndrome Issue
HANZÁLKOVÁ, Simona
My Bachelor Thesis consists of two parts ? a theoretical and empirical part. In the theoretical part I have briefly described the significant information related to the CAN syndrome. When compiling the theoretical part I have worked with written sources and web sites references. In the empirical part I have investigated in a questionnaire research the people?s awareness of CAN syndrome in the Town of Kolín. The questionnaire contained 16 questions, of which 8 were closed, 4 were open and 4 were semi-open. The research was carried out in January 2010. I had handed out 135 questionnaires and within two weeks received 120 of them back. The questionnaires return was therefore 88,8 %. I have illustrated the results of the research in charts. I have evaluated all the questionnaires in two ways ? from the point of the respondent?s age and from the point of their level of education. There are following two assumptions in my thesis: Assumption 1 ? The public awareness of the CAN syndrome is tied with age. Assumption 2 ? The public awareness of the CAN syndrome is tied with education. I believe the public awareness of the CAN syndrome is tolerable. My thesis may in future be used for the purpose of improving the public awareness, for instance in decisions which groups of the public should the CAN syndrome promotion be aimed at and which communication media should be used. The research has brought out that the best medium for enhancing the public awareness of CAN syndrome is the worldwide web, television and lectures for pupils and students at schools. Therefore I would concentrate in future on production of web sites offering reliable information related to the CAN syndrome, TV shows and discussions with Professional as well as attractive lectures for children and young people at schools.
