Cartographical works for pre-school children

The principal aim of this master´s thesis has been to analyze the available Czech and foreign cartographic works that may be used wholly or partly for preschool children. A design and a model of an orientation map of a village for educational needs in nursery schools and the first stage of primary schools are part of the work. A basic map of the village of Boretice (a disctrict of Breclav) has been used as a basis for creation of my own design of a map. The usability of the newly designed map has been tested in the local nursery school.
Multimedia maps in the Internet environment

The primary objective of this bachelor thesis is to introduce cartographic products with multimedia content on the Internet. Cartographic products are classified by selected criteria. Sample multimedia map was created and placed on WWW.
Monumental places of the Moravien geodesy and cartography

The thesis deals with description of location related to the personalities that were important for geodesy and cartography and worked in Moravia or Silesia. Apart from personalities, it also pursues with important trigonometric and leveling points, archives and towns with other interesting movable and immovable monuments related to geodesy and cartography. There are also schools where people can study geodesy and cartography now. One chapter is devoted to the Moravian cartographic center in Velké Opatovice.

Objective of this thesis is to create a simple and efficient structural guidepost of important cartographic and geodetic departments at universities in the Czech Republic and in the European Union. The work also deals with the evaluation of graphics, content and technical quality of presentation of departments in the Czech and Slovak republic on the Internet and a brief summary of the history and future of the Internet and the WWW in the world as well. At the end, there is a suggest of solution to implementation guidepost to the website of the Institute of Geodesy Faculty of Civil Engineering BRNO University of Technology.
The development of cartography from the perspective of Czech cartographers

The aim of the thesis is to prepare an overview of major and lesser-known Czech cartographers, who went down the history with their important cartographic works in our country, or, conversely, contributed to the discovery of new worlds. The first part focuses on the explanation of terms connected with this topic. The development of cartography which is divided into individual periods follows. Each of these periods includes a brief description of the development of cartography in the Czech lands and a summary of significant cartographers for this period. In each section there is a detailed description of the life and work of a particular cartographer, who made history. Map works by these cartographers can be found in the text as images and more significant works are presented in the Appendix. Next section explains the aims and methodology. The practical part of the thesis contains an analysis of selected cartographic works. The final section is devoted to a discussion about the authors and their different views of the map works, and a summary of significant works and our most famous cartographers. It also shows the importance and benefits of cartographic creation for our present and future.
Comprarison of maps on the Internet from the cartographic view

This thesis is concerned with compering Internet map servers of the Czech republic. The main topic of the thesis is to contrast various maps on the Internet from the view of cartographic currency, completeness, degree of cartographic generalization, clear arrangement, etc. The last part is devoted to compare the possibilities of using the maps with the convenience of maps from the view of the user.

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to describe thematic and purpose maps. The opening part is devoted to define the basic concepts of general cartography. Following sections describe main differences between thematic and purpose maps, how these maps are used in practice and how they are created. The work includes a chapter about the content of thematic and purpose maps and their composition. The attention is also paid to cartographic means of expression. Examples and demonstrations of selected maps have been included for clarity.

The topic of this bachelor thesis "Altimetry visualisation in maps development" brings an overview and basic characteristics of individual methods used for visualisation of altimetry. The thesis is dealing with methods used in current map creation but also with ones which are not used anymore. The goal of this work is to show an overview of a development of each visualisation´s method and description of its pros and cons.
The offer atlas creation in the Czech Republic

This thesis is devoted to clarifying the issue of atlas production offer and its availability within the scope of the Czech republic. An atlas is a collection of maps interconnected via their purpose, theme, scale coefficient or scale coefficient set, generalization and other system aspects. These are conceptually processed cartographically and polygraphicaly as a unified work. The opening part explains the characteristics of atlas production including the historical development of cartography which is related to this issue. The following part depicts the division of atlases according the individual typology. In the closing part it is clarified which atlases are available in the Czech republic. Only selected atlases are presented in this section.
