Behaviour of radioactive substances in the Vltava and Elbe Rivers during nuclear accident
Juranová, Eva ; Hanslík, Eduard (advisor) ; Matějíček, Luboš (referee) ; Světlík, Ivo (referee)
Behaviour of radioactive substances in the Vltava and Elbe Rivers during nuclear accident Ing. Eva Juranová Supervisor: Ing. Eduard Hanslík, CSc. Abstract This work is focused in the research of the behaviour of radioactive substances released into the hydrosphere of the Vltava River and the subsequent Elbe stretch during a severe accident at the Temelín Nuclear Power Plant. The background values of anthropogenic radionuclides in surface water, residual contamination after the Chernobyl accident and after atmospheric tests of nuclear weapons, were evaluated using two methods and these methods were compared. The migration of the accidental radioactive contaminants in the watercourse would be mainly influenced by their ability to sorb onto the solid phase in the hydrosphere. Therefore, the sorption of particular anthropogenic radionuclides onto bottom sediments and solids suspended in the water column was monitored and evaluated at several sites along the Vltava and the Elbe Rivers. Furthermore, the possibility of using tritium, which is discharged during normal operation of the Temelín power plant, as tracers for the purposes of modelling the migration of pollution, was assessed.
Radioactive accessory minerals in granitoids and its changes during metamorphosis and alteration.
Tuhý, Marek ; Goliáš, Viktor (advisor) ; Matějka, Dobroslav (referee)
This paper is focused on gathering information about alterations of radioactive accessory minerals in granitic rocks. These minerals become unstable during the influence of fluids and increased temperature and pressure conditions. Allanite is usually metamict therefore it is more easily altered than others. Alteration of monazite is described as decomposing original grains which leads to the formation of secondary minerals such as allanite, apatite, minerals of thorium and epidote. Zircon is the most durable mineral mentioned in this paper. Zircon is altered mainly if it is metamict. Majority of authors agree that during alteration uranium is mobilized into fluids and thorium with REE is incorporate into the secondary minerals.
Nuclear Chemistry and Chemistry of f-Elements in Chemistry Curriculum at Secondary Schools
Distler, Petr
This master's degree thesis, called Nuclear Chemistry and Chemistry of f-Elements in Chemistry Curriculum at Secondary Schools, conducts a research of the most commonly used high school textbooks. Within the textbook research, topics such as atomic nucleus composition, radioactivity, and f-elements were studied in order to evaluate to what extent contemporary textbooks meet to the curriculum requirements. Based on the textbook research, the new teaching texts, materials, and teaching tasks including the uncovered themes were created. Selected teaching tasks were evaluated by high school teachers. Within this pool, the teachers also answered questions concerning teaching topics of radioactivity and chemistry of f-elements at high schools. The same tasks were solved and evaluated by high school students as well. The results of both teacher and student surveys were used for the final modification of the tasks.

Radioactive medicinal springs in the Skalná - Bad Brambach area
Turnová, Štěpánka ; Goliáš, Viktor (advisor) ; Vylita, Tomáš (referee)
Radiohydrochemical exploration took place in east part of the "smrčinský" pluton between "Skalná-Plesná-Bad Brambach in years 2016-2018. The main aim of the exploration was location and thorough research of possible occurrence of waters with radioactive concretation higher than 1500 Bq/l. That is a value for radioactive mineral waters given by the "lázeňským" law number 164/2001 Sb. Most important area is Plesná-south where was discovered several springs with values exceeding 5000 Bq/l. Eminent spring is called "Břetislav-Radonka" and lies one kilometre southwest from the train station Plesná-Šneky with an activity of about 12.5 kBq / l 222 Rn and a flow rate of about 2.5 l / min. It is the most active surface discharge of radon mineral water in the Czech Republic Another significant source area is north of Skalna - north. These springs were discovered almost 60 years ago, Dr. Marie Zukriegelová. The main source of this area was named after its discoverer - the "Marie Z" spring with an activity of 5800 Bq / l 222 Rn.Further the research focused on historical radioactive conduit which were used to supply village Skalné with water. The conduit was separated on two "branches" and the younger one was built ten years after the first one. In both pipes were found radioactive waters and the most important...
Analysis and evaluation of knowledge of individual components of the Integrated Rescue System in terms of radiation protection and emergency preparedness
BAREŠOVÁ, Adéla
Bachelor thesis is focused on analysis and evaluation of knowledge of individual components of the Integrated Rescue Systém in terms of radiation protection and emergency preparedness. The thesis mainly deals with the knowledge of the basic components of the integrated rescue system in the South Region within the topic. It is important because of a nuclear power plant Temelín. The theoretical part is primarily focused on radioactivity, ionizing radiation, radiation protection and emergency preparedness. It is important to know what are the basic principles of invisible radiation effects on the human body and how high are the risks of radiation exposure. Although it is also very important to say public knowledge of radiation plays big role in the topic as well as working staff´s attitude. I also mentioned cimportant Czech and world organizations dealing with ionizing radiation and radiation protection. For us is crucial The state office for nuclear safety, the main administrative body, supervisors and government in the area. Its position is based on Law n. 2/1969 o zřízení ministerstev a jiných ústředních orgánů státní správy České republiky and next important is regulation The state office for nuclear safety č. 195/2000 sb., o požadavcích na jaderná zařízení k ochraně zajištění jaderné bezpečnosti, radiační ochrany a havarijní připravenosti. The thesis also deals with the Integrated rescue system itself with all its parts Hasičský záchranný sbor České republiky (Law č. 320/2015 Sb., o Hasičském záchranném sboru České republiky), Zdravotnická záchranná služba (Law č. 374/2011 Sb., o zdravotnické záchranné službě) and Policie České republiky (Law č. 273/2008 Sb., o Policii České republiky). It is defined as the system of coordination and cooperation between the security forces actively involved in solving emergencies. In the researchal part of the thesis I am dealing with real knowledge of the integrated rescue system in the South Region. In the effort of doing so I have chosed the method of questionnaire research. I have created a questionnaire for each of the basic compounds of integrated rescue systém. It´s a set of common general questions and issues characterizing each individual activity. The questionnaire will then be evaluated and graphically processed. I have came to the conclusion and answered chosen questions. The next part of the thesis formed in a discussion I have chosen the questions with the highest level of wrong answers to actually evaluace why is it so. At the end of the thesis I have focused on recapitulation of the results and outlined recommendations to improve the current situation.
Underground waters and springs at Jeseník Spa: New hydrogeochemical data
Kohn, Tomáš ; Goliáš, Viktor (advisor) ; Vylita, Tomáš (referee)
This thesis deals with the areal survey of water resources in the area of Priessnitz baths, to search for natural medicinal sources and advanced data collection for evaluation radiohydrogeochemical situation of the area. The area of interest is situated in the Hrubý Jeseník mountains. Hydrogeologically it is a hard rock, which consists mainly of metamorphic rocks of the Bohemian Massif, the Moravian-Silesian region, presented as the methamorfic envelope of the desen group of Silenics. Altogether, 83 objects were recorded and many of them were visited repeatedly. Physical parameters (temperature, pH, Eh, conductivity), activity 222Rn and flow rate were measured. In addition, the chemical composition and tritium contents were determined on selected sources. Conductometry, thermometry, and probes for peloids were conducted. There was no source of water (or peloid) that would reach the criteria of a natural healing source (according to the Czech spa law). However, the overall hydrogeological and hydrochemical situation is quite complicated. Both the genesis of water and its chemical composition is highly heterogeneous and influenced by the heterogenical geological structure. Generally, we have distinguished three types of water according to the chemical composition. We also divided the water sources...
The springs of the radioactive medicinal groundwaters in the Chrastava - Bogatynia area
Černík, Tomáš ; Goliáš, Viktor (advisor) ; Vylita, Tomáš (referee)
A radiogeochemical exploration in the area of Chrastava - Bogatynia belonging into lugic region was conducted in the years 2012 - 2013. This exploration's objective was to search for and investigate radioactive water manifestations with radioactivity concentration reaching minimal value of 1500 Bq/l 222Rn. This boundary is set in the spa law no. 164/2001 Sb. as a minimal radioactivity concentration for radioactive mineral water. In this area, 30 water manifestations were discovered meeting the boudary of >1500 Bq/l 222Rn. The most significant cluster is located in Albrechtice by Frýdlant. Close to Kančí vrch (Boar Hill) 12 radioactive water springs were discovered. In the town of Albrechtice, a discovery of dissolved salts- rich radioactive mineral water was made, concerning springs Soumar and Matka. The most mineralized spring Soumar contains more than 1 g/l of dissolved salts (hydrochemical type Na-Ca-Cl water with total mineralization up to 1,5 g/l) combined with it's 222Rn activity surpassing 1500 Bq/l. Another significant cluster is located near the town of Nová Ves by Chrastava, where the most active source of the whole area, Mikulášský pramen (Mikulash Spring), with activity up to 2821 Bq/l 222Rn, was found. Another three radioactive water springs were found in this area. Also, probable dry...
