Quality of life of woman with incontinence
NĚMCOVÁ, Anna
Incontinence, i.e. involuntary paging of urine, is a hygienic, as well as a social, economic and partnership problem. It is a symptom which has various causes. Women of all ages suffer from this symptom while the incidence rises with older age. Incontinence can even affect pregnant women and women after birth. Urine incontinence affects the quality of life to a large extent. Although a number of ways exist of how to solve the problem, women are ashamed to openly speak about it. The task of the midwife is to provide female patients with all information concerning the reasons and the ways of how to cope with incontinence, and therefore to contribute to improve their quality of life. The theoretical part focuses on the anatomy of urinary tract and urination physiology. Furthermore, it describes the types of incontinence, its reasons, diagnosis and the subsequent therapy. In its final part it describes the role of the midwife. The practical part deals with the findings of the way of how incontinence influences affects a woman?s life. Furthermore, it focuses on the way women are informed and where woman obtain information about incontinence. A qualitative survey, i.e. a method of enquiry and a technique of in-depth interviews was chosen to process the task and achieve the predetermined aims. A SEIQoL questionnaire was used as an additional method. The questionnaire compares the resulting values of the quality of life of women who have finished a course of treatment of incontinence with those still being treated at out-patient urogynaecological units. The qualitative survey was conducted in the city of České Budějovice and its vicinity from 29th March to 13th April 2011. A total of 13 in-depth interviews were carried out. There aims were set together with related enquiry questions. The purpose of the project was to find out how women regard the quality of their lives with incontinence, if they are well informed about their problem and where they obtained the information. The purpose of the work was to also compile an educational programme on how to improve the quality of life of woman with incontinence involving the work carried by midwife. The SEIQoL questionnaire showed that the quality of life of women still suffering from urinary incontinence further deteriorates in comparison with that of woman who has been cured. The assessment of the quality of life of women suffering suffering with incontinence should not just be dealt with in scientific articles or research. They should be more sympathetic and assist women in their uneasy situation more than in the practice today. In this respect the education of midwives is extremely important and more attention should be devoted to it.
Communication in the Birth Suite.
MELÍŠKOVÁ, Jana
Given the importance of pregnancy and childbirth to a woman, communication is a key feature contributing to the successful development of and control over that anxious period. An appropriate and correct communication prevents confusion and misunderstanding between clients and healthcare professionals. Everyone needs to communicate, especially if they are at a healthcare facility and expect healthcare professionals to come up with words of explanation, encouragement and support. The theoretical section of the work deals with communication between a birth assistant and a birthing woman. The general section summarizes communication in the birth suite and lists factors affecting communication, such as pain and childbirth training. The main objectives of the work were to determine the effect of childbirth training on communication between the expectant mother and healthcare professionals during childbirth, to see whether birth assistants were able to appropriately react to conditions accompanying childbirth and to find out whether successful communication with women in labor depended on birth assistants{\crq} expertise. The objectives have been met thanks to the research conducted. Qualitative survey by means of interviews was employed in the research section of the bachelor thesis. Eight birth assistants were interviewed: four out of them had worked in the birth suite for more than ten years and the others for one year. In addition, eight mothers were interviewed the day after they had given birth. Four of them gave birth for the first time and four of them for the fourth time. The interviews were prepared so that I could answer the following research questions: 1. What do birth assistants think about the effect of childbirth training on communication with mothers during childbirth? Most of the birth assistants answered that question in the affirmative. Expectant mothers who have been trained before childbirth communicate better and have more information and skills. 2. What do expectant mothers think about communication in the birth suite? Expectant mothers think that communication in the birth suite is positive from the very first contact and especially emphasize healthcare professionals{\crq} readiness, patience, attentiveness, professionalism and human touch. 3. Do birth assistants have sufficient knowledge and experience of communicating in the birth suite? Birth assistants with ten and more years{\crq} work experience have enough knowledge and experience, whereas birth assistants with a year{\crq}s experience of the birth suite lack the expertise. This work has attempted to shed light on communication by birth assistants. It can serve secondary school and college students and birth assistants and doctors who can use it as a resource and make an assessment of their communication skills and abilities and it can be a source of information to help improve communication by birth assistants.
Woman's sexuality in pregnancy, during delivery and in puerperium.
HONZÍKOVÁ, Eliška
This bachelor thesis deals with female sexuality in the period of pregnancy, delivery and puerperium. However, it does not only focus on sexual activities in these cardinal periods of every woman ´s life. Female sexuality is directly related to the woman ´s psychic condition which has a fundamental effect on her. The theoretical part includes chapters explaining the notion of female sexuality and its brief history. The thesis further includes basic information about female physiology and an outline of the periods of pregnancy, delivery and puerperium with a focus on female psyche and sexuality. The purpose of this thesis was to find out about women ´s knowledge of hormonal changes in the periods of pregnancy, delivery and puerperium in relation to sexuality. Another objective was to find out what changes are women subject to in these periods and whether any complications may appear in this area. Further focus of interest was comparison of sexuality of women without professional healthcare education and midwives who had already delivered babies themselves. This theme was processed with the help of a qualitative research. The needed information was obtained through non-standardised interviews with open questions. The interviews were processed in the form of case studies. The research subjects included two groups of female respondents. The first group included women without professional healthcare education and the second consisted of five midwives. The research was used for evaluation of the following hypotheses: ``Women possess information about hormonal changes in pregnancy, during and after delivery in relation to sexuality``; ``The frequency of female sexual activities decreases in pregnancy``; ``Women change view of their life roles in the sense of continuous prevalence of the parental role over the partner role``; ``Delivery need not necessarily result in changed sexual appetite of women``; ``Women experience complications in sexuality after delivery in the case of trouble with injury during childbirth{\crqq}; ``There are no differences between women without professional healthcare education and professional midwives in sexuality in the periods of pregnancy, delivery and post-delivery``. The thesis might be beneficial not only for midwives, pregnant women or women after child delivery, but also for the male part of the population.

Specific Midwife´s Care of Jewish Woman
MAŘÍKOVÁ, Eva
The thesis deals with Jewish culture and its relation to nursing in the Czech Republic. In the introductory section the most important historical moments of Jewish culture are mentioned, the origin of Jewish culture, religious and philosophical ideas of Judaism and its branches are described. The most comprehensive chapter presents Jewish festivals and Jewish family life. These are the crucial indicators of lifestyle from the religious point of view. They show how religion influences adolescence, the man´s and woman´s role in the family as well as life itself. The theoretical part of the thesis is closed with the description of nursing care specifics. Topics such as basic nursing care, the care for a dying person, stepping of a Jew into life, i.e. circumcision, childbirth or abortion are covered. The exploratory question on specific needs of Jewish women while given nursing care by a midwife was asked. The aim of the thesis was to learn midwives´ awareness on specifics of nursing women of Jewish religion. The results of the research show that midwives´ awareness is not high, for example 50% of midwives are convinced that termination of pregnancy is absolutely forbidden in Jewish culture, the absolute majority of midwives could not give the definition of Sabbath. But on the other hand, this information cannot even be found in literature dealing with multicultural nursing care. The hypothesis that midwives do not have enough knowledge about specifics of the care for Jewish women was confirmed. However, it is also difficult to make Jewish women communicate openly and get relevant information. Therefore it is necessary to seek for specifics of nursing care actively to improve the quality of nursing care. But yet the research brought the insight into specifics of nursing care such as insistence on caregivers´ adequate expertise or demand of quietness and privacy. In the course of pregnancy women do not require more attention than usual, do not give up their professional careers, but they slow down the pace by relaxing more. The other hypothesis suggests that while providing them with nursing care it is possible for midwives to meet all the specific needs of Jewish women. The results of the research show that it is possible to meet specific needs in full if we do our best to seek for concrete specifics when communicating with a Jewish patient.
Nursing of the woman in confinement
KRAUSOVÁ, Monika
Nowadays, mothers can get information about the period of confinement by reading books and magazines and by browsing the internet. My goal was to find out whether women are informed about nursing care in confinement and whether they are satisfied with it. This thesis is divided into a theoretical part and a part of survey. The first part describes the history of confinement, the physiology and disorders that may occur at women in this period. It deals with the care about woman after her return home as well. In the second part of this bachelor thesis I confirmed this two hypothesis: 1. Women after the childbirth at the department of confinement are informed about the nursing care. 2. At the department of confinement, women after the childbirth are satisfied with the nursing care. The results can serve mainly nurses taking care of mothers at the department of confinement.
HEALTH AND SOCIAL PROBLEMS OF WOMEN WITH URINARY INCONTINENCE
KAZDOVÁ, Markéta
The urinary incontinence is defined as involuntary leaks of urine that cause hygienic as well as social problems that can be evaluates objectively. At present there are many diagnostic methods that can distinguish various types of urinary incontinence and then {--} the optimal method of treatment can be used. According the causes and severity of symptoms of urinary incontinence the optimal method of treatment is chosen. The modern medicine offers many good ways to solve the urinary leaks. There are conservative or surgical methods of treatment and according the women health status, the optimal method is used. The aim of the thesis was to evaluate to what degree are women in West Bohemia affected by the urinary incontinence and if they search for help in the beginning of their health problems. The patients{\crq} population was formed by 82 women coming from West Bohemia that had problems with the urinary incontinence and that were treated in the specialized out-patient clinic of urogynecology at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University Hospital in Pilsen. The data were collected using questionnaire. Our first hypothesis that women don{\crq}t search for help in the beginning of their problems was not confirmed. In the questionnaire, 59 % of women stated that they searched for help in time. Our second hypothesis was proved {--} all women regardless their age are affected in their personal life by urinary incontinence. Out of the data we obtained it is clear that women regardless their age are affected by urinary incontinence in their personal life and even though most of them searched for help in time, there are still a high number of those, who find this problem too delicate to search for help in time. Thanks to our original data, the thesis could help to students of medical and social schools to understand these problems. It could also be used to set the right approach to women with urinary incontinence and to understand their situation. It could also serve to public - to break the taboos around this problem.

Annotation In my diploma thesis I deal with the presentation of women as a minority in English language textbooks. The theoretical part explains why it is a keep necessary to consider woman to be a minority in society. The theoretical part is divided in two parts. The first part examines gender as a general concept, focusing on substantiality and circumstances, that are important to the formation of gender identity. The second part explores gender is in the context of education and textbooks. The practical part concentrates on the research of gender representation in three kinds of the textbooks that are presently used for teaching English language. FAJTOVÁ, Michaela
The aim of the Thesis is to describe a woman in the family and employment sphere. For outlining this problem, I analysed the findings of sociology related to the divorce rate, number of children born to partners who are not married or purely to the childlessness. Among the main poinst of my thesis belong the statistical data on the women´s employment and the different kinds of discrimination women could be exposed to when entering the employment and while being employed. The Thesis also contains the research which deals with the women´s views on their position in the family and the workplace. VÁŇOVÁ, Gabriela
The body and the sin. One of a woman{\crq}s image in the moralist literature in the early modern period Annotation The diploma work is aimed at an early modern woman seen from the moralist authors´view. The work ranks among the contributions connected with gender roles research in the society of the studied period. The sources that it takes on come from the 16th and 17th centuries and they are aimed against woman{\crq}s wickedness which were connected with woman{\crq}s carnality. The body as a tool of a trespass is represented as a connecting unit through the individual chapters and at the same time it work as the main symbol of the woman{\crq}s trespass. In connexion with the carnality the most feared sins are mentioned, such as pride, adultery or fornication. In additoin to these particular trespasses the moralist authors also pointed out possible snares or potential ways leading to the trespass, such as dance or a pure and simple woman{\crq}s glimpse. Even these opinions show it was very important to keep out women of ill fame because even a simple slander could raise doubts of everyone{\crq}s probity. The aim of the diploma work is an elucidation of images of women dominated in the society in the early modern period. The work should outline a certain bipolarity that is, in connexion wiht a women, evident in the moralist authors` writings. In this a woman of the early modern period was conceived either as a redeemer or on the other hand as a wicked woman whereas the main thought of the work elucidation of period opinions of a woman as a sinner is.
