Problems in nursing care for klient with general and epidural, spinal anesthesia
PŘEDOTOVÁ, Jana
Abstract:Problems of nursing care for a client with general and epidural spinal anaesthesia. The topic of the Bachelor Thesis is ?Problems of nursing care for a client with general and epidural spinal anaesthesia?. The Thesis has three goals. The first goal is to map the knowledge of the general anaesthesia issues among nurses. The next goal is to map the knowledge of epidural spinal anaesthesia among nurses and the last goal is to check adherence to the nursing care principles in general and epidural spinal anaesthesia. The work consists of a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part deals with definition of general and epidural spinal anaesthesia, their indications and counter indications, the spinal canal anatomy, applied pharmaceuticals and nursing care before, during and after general and epidural and spinal anaesthesia. The research part is based on quantitative data collection method by means of a questionnaire. Standard surgical, gynaecology and orthopaedic wards and an intensive care unit including casualty ward were involved. The questionnaire was designed for nurses and consisted of 35 questions, which may be divided into identification and knowledge ones. The goals of the Thesis have been met. Hypothesis No. 1 ?Nurses are better informed in the field of general anaesthesia then spinal, epidural anaesthesia? was refuted. Hypotheses No. 2 ?ICU and casualty ward nurses adhere to the principles of nursing care for clients with general and epidural spinal anaesthesia better than those at standard wards? and No. 3 ?Nurses adhere to the principles of nursing care for clients with general and epidural spinal anaesthesia? were refuted. Hypotheses No. 4 ?Nurses of standard wards care about more patients after general anaesthesia?, No. 5 ?ICU and casualty ward nurses valuate epidural spinal anaesthesia higher than general anaesthesia? and No. 6 ?Nurses observe that patients prefer general anaesthesia to epidural spinal anaesthesia if they can choose? were confirmed. The research results show that nurses do not have sufficient information in the field of general and epidural spinal anaesthesia. This is why this Thesis may be used for further education of nurses to improve their knowledge and to make them adhere to the nursing care principles in the field of general and epidural spinal anaesthesia. This is why educational material dealing with the general and epidural spinal anaesthesia will be prepared, designed for nurses to improve their information. Better information for nurses might lead to improvement of the health care provided.
Women?s Awareness When Preparing for a Gynaecological Surgery
BICANOVÁ, Martina
When making decisions on future issues it is very important to be informed in all aspects. This applies to the health issues in particular. Being informed before every surgery on pre-operative procedure, the surgery in question and subsequent post-operative care is crucial for the patients? trust in us, medical staff. It is a communication between a health worker and a patient that is concluded with signing the informed consent. The theoretical part is focused on activities related to pre-operative care, activities related to post-operative care and communication between a health worker and a patient. The practical part is focused on the level of women?s awareness of pre- and post-operative care and activities related to them. A quantitative research method was selected in order to handle the issue and to ascertain the goals mentioned. The research was conducted using questionnaires that were anonymous. They had been designed for women undergoing a surgery at a gynaecological and obstetric department. Two goals and hypotheses related were stated. The goals of the thesis were to find out whether women are informed on pre- and post-operative care in case of a gynaecological surgery and to find out which sources women use to get the information on pre- and post-operative care. Both goals were met. Hypothesis 1 ?Most of information on pre-operative care was provided by a midwife? was not confirmed. The hypothesis 2 that most of information on post-operative care had been provided by a midwife was not confirmed, too. Hypothesis 3 ?Women search for the information on the Internet? was confirmed. This bachelor thesis can be used as a source of information and educational material for women who will undergo a planned surgery. An educational leaflet for women undergoing a gynaecological surgery is the result of the research.
The nursing care with clients after aesthetic plastic surgeries
MÍLOVÁ, Veronika
Aesthetic plastic surgeries are highly specific operations which help patients both physically and mentally. This bachelor{\crq}s thesis focuses on breast reshaping, reduction and augmentation, liposuction, face-lift and abdominoplasty, predominantly on nursing care for clients after these operations. Nurses working in the department of plastic surgery must be perfectly skilled in preoperative and postoperative nursing care, but they should also be familiar with surgical techniques related to nursing care. Nurses must know about compression garments, the monitoring of physiological functions, postoperative massage techniques, and so on. Nurses working in this area of surgery should remember that the client is a biopsychosocial-spiritual being with psyche, perceptions, and feelings. They should provide clients with support and help, while maintaining a professional approach. The investigative part of this thesis examines nursing care for patients after aesthetic plastic surgery from a nurse{\crq}s viewpoint. We decided to study this issue in particular because every aesthetic plastic operation has certain specifics. We wanted to find out whether nurses are aware of these differences and well versed in them. This knowledge should include in particular choosing the correct size of compression garments and how to apply them, parameters and values of physiological and vital functions, communication with foreigners, analgesia, redressing, recovery from anaesthesia and surgery. Moreover, rehabilitation nursing, and help with the patient{\crq}s self-care are also part of a nurse{\crq}s work in the department of plastic surgery. The primary objective of this thesis was to find out whether nurses are skilled at providing nursing care after aesthetic plastic surgery. The other objective was to reveal if they know the specifics of nursing care after respective types of operations. Both these objectives were met in this Bachelor{\crq}s thesis. A total of five hypotheses were formulated as follows: nurses are proficient in providing nursing care after aesthetic plastic surgery, they know specifics of nursing care following breast surgery, liposuction, abdominal surgery, and face-lift. All these hypotheses were confirmed. The work is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part is focused on aesthetic plastic surgery, specifically breast surgery, abdominal surgery, face-lift and liposuction, and nursing care before and after these procedures. The practical part is based on data acquisition using anonymous questionnaires, and candid objective observations. The research population were nurses providing nursing care after aesthetic plastic surgery. The questionnaires were filled out by nurses from Prague, České Budějovice, Plzeň, and Třinec. Observations were conducted at the Department of Plastic Surgery in České Budějovice. This work can be used in practice for example during seminars or to formulate standards of nursing care.

REINDLOVÁ, Jitka
The thesis title is Educative Activities of a Perioperative Nurse at an ORL Department. In her profession, the nurse performs several important roles. One of these is the very role of an educator. No less important is the educative activity of a perioperative nurse which is currently increasingly referred to. Education is important in order for a client to be able to assume an active role in the area of own health care and in order to be able to decide completely with respect to own health provision. An operating procedure is a difficult situation in a person{\crq}s life and it is necessary that a client has all the information available. The objective of this thesis was to map the educative activity of perioperative nurses. In particular with respect to the clients{\crq} satisfaction with pre-operative care within the context of the educative process; whether the education performed by a perioperative nurse alleviates a client{\crq}s anxiety and improves the awareness of clients before an operating procedure. A quantitative research has been selected for the fulfillment of objectives. The survey investigation was executed by means of a questionnaire form. Two anonymous questionnaires were used. The first one was intended for clients after an operating procedure at an ORL department, and the second one for perioperative nurses. The questionnaire survey reflected on 84 clients and 86 perioperative nurses.
Informedness of stomia patients before the surgery
SOUKUPOVÁ, Alena
In this bachelor thesis, we discuss the awareness of ostomates prior to an operation. The awareness and education is considered an integral part of quality and professional care for the patient. If the patient receives sufficient and comprehensible information, they become part of treatment, diagnostics and overall health care process, thus assuming a proactive role in their health care. The objective of our thesis was to find out how ostomic patients are informed prior to an operation and map the education process and compare information for a planned and acute operation. A quantitative method was selected to achieve the objective, using an anonymous question form. We approached ostomic patients as respondents. The results show that even though awareness has quite improved since the past years, deficiencies are still seen in many cases. Some information is not understood or sufficient for the pacient. As we expected, patients coming for a planned operation are better informed than patients arriving in acute cases. But in spite of an acute operation, the patient should be briefed and educated. The education process prior to a resection operation is again Better quality for planned operations. Unfortunately, pacients coming for an acute operation are deprived of such education. The education process can make the patient less afraid and their vision of future life is clearer.
