Preparation of patient prior to application intravenous of contrast medium in relation to the prevention of renal failure
PUCHOLTOVÁ, Lenka
The topic of the bachelor thesis is the patient preparation prior to intravenous contrast in relation to the prevention of renal failure. The theoretical part deals with the anatomy and physiology of the kidney, provides information about the contrast media of their properties, uses and side effects. At the end of the theoretical part describes the contrast medium-induced nephropathy. In the practical part I focused on finding out what is the incidence of contrast nephropathy in individuals with normal creatinine levels depending on the amount of contrast agent and the preparation of the patient. I obtained the data from the hospital information system Masaryk Hospital Townsville. The database contained a set of hospitalized patients in the years 2009 - 2011, which were performed CT examinations associated with the administration of iodinated contrast media. Part of the personal data of patients, the tests used, the type and amount of contrast agent and creatinine values. Since creatinine values were available for all patients, the final database was created from 938 patients with baseline of normal creatinine levels before the examination for which they may be level <than 130 mmol/l. The final group of patients was analyzed according to the defined aims and statistically processed. Hypothesis of this study: the incidence of contrast nephropathy in individuals with normal creatinine levels depending on the amount of contrast agent as a suitable preparation of patients prior to administration of iodinated contrast material does not exceed 10% - was confirmed. In the investigated group of patients was proved preventive effect of patient preparation before the test - hydration. A higher incidence of CN was observed in the group of patients whose preparation has taken place.
Risk management of the agricultural enterprise
REŠLOVÁ, Marcela
The aim of the diploma thesis is to analyze the production enterprise under the risk conditions and to identify the risk factors which have the influence on agricultural business. The theoretical part gives a definition of risk, risk classification and risk management with different methods of risk treatment. The special part is focused on agricultural risk management, its objectives and principles. The analytic part of the thesis contains characteristics of the analyzed enterprise. Special attention is paid to the calculation formula in plant and livestock production and the break even analysis. The risk analysis is performed in the following order: threat identification and risk-ranking matrix determination according to probability of occurrence and severity of consequences. Based on a strategy are identified ways to reduce risk and determined the risk mitigation. Improvements for the enterprise are suggested on the basis of the results.
The Level of Awareness of Employees in the Selected Construction Companies about Inclusion in the Category of Work and Medical Facility that Provides them with Preventive Care
JÍNOVÁ, Jana
The thesis is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part of the paper summarizes findings of construction industry, works classification, selected risk factors of working conditions, health protection measures and the legislation in this field. This section is processed by the secondary analysis of data taken from literature, legislation and websites. In the practical part of the study, quantitative research was used, the interview method was selected and the data collection technique was that of a questionnaire. 270 questionnaires were distributed, 215 of them were returned back, the return rate was 75%. The questionnaire contained 16 questions. They were submitted in a preprinted form to be filled in writing by employees of selected medium-sized construction companies. The questions were aimed at identifying the respondents, at finding their views and knowledge. The aim of this study was to create a list of professions that are used in construction industry, on the example of selected construction companies, to characterize the actual or potential exposure to risk factors regarding individual professions, and to determine how much the company employees are informed of the way preventive care measures are provided. Two hypotheses were set. Hypothesis 1, workers are informed in which work category they are classified, has not been confirmed. The research results have shown that a great number of employees do not remember that they were informed of the category into which their work had been classified. Hypothesis 2, workers are informed of the preventive care measures provision, has been confirmed. The employees proved that they had been sufficiently informed about the medical facility providing them with preventive care. The research results will be forwarded to employers who, based on these findings, may take measures to increase their employees' knowledge in the field.
The issue of taking capillary blood for glycemia
KOPAČKOVÁ, Lucie
The proper technique of capillary blood sampling to determine the level of glycemia plays an important role in diagnostics and therapy of diabetes mellitus. There has been a large shift in this disease in recent years, especially in diagnostics and treatment. It is a disease characterized by high blood sugar levels. In practice, it often happens that although it is a procedure nurses carry out almost daily, during capillary blood sampling to determine the level of glycemia, a number of errors occurs. This fact inspired me to write a bachelor thesis on the topic "The issue of capillary blood sampling to determine the level of glycemia?. The empirical part of the thesis deals with both the disease Diabetes Mellitus itself and the capillary blood sampling. In the introductory part history and definition of diabetes are given, the causes of the disease, complications, diagnostics and treatment of Diabetes Mellitus are described. The issue of capillary blood sampling to determine the levels of glycemia is discussed in detail, as well as the recommended procedure of capillary blood sampling and devices designed for the sampling . The practical part of the thesis is focused on selected objectives, research questions and hypotheses. The objective of the research was to identify the factors that may affect the results of the examination, to find out whether nurses follow the recommended procedure for capillary blood sampling and to identify the most common errors nurses make during the sampling. To achieve the objectives both quantitative and qualitative research surveys were carried out. The qualitative research was conducted by observations of six nurses working in inpatient wards in České Budějovice Hospital, plc, supplemented by interviews with the nurses. The three research questions can be answered as follows. The most common factors that may affect the test results is poor sample handling, sample exposure to unsuitable temperature conditions, and forced squeeze of blood from a finger. While collecting capillary blood nurses often make mistakes in communicating with the patient, when they do not give information about the performed punction and do not properly explain the whole procedure to the patient. They wash their hands before blood sampling without using a disinfectant. The interviews gave the answer to the last research question that the most common problem the nurses are aware of during capillary blood sampling is forced squeeze of blood from a finger, poor disinfection of the punction site and a delayed transport to the laboratory. Qualitative research survey was supplemented by quantitative research, which consisted of 66 observations of capillary blood sampling, which were carried out by nurses in České Budějovice Hospital, plc. This research survey was conducted to verify the results obtained from the qualitative research. This hypothesis was formulated: H1: During capillary blood sampling to determine the level of glycemia nurses most often make mistakes in communication with the patient. Based on the quantitative research, it has been found out that the most common mistake made by nurses is a failure to use a disinfectant for hand hygiene before sampling blood (16%). The mistake in communication took the third place (14%). Based on the above results the conclusion can be made that H1: During capillary blood sampling to determine the level of glycemia nurses most often make mistakes in communication with the patient, has not been confirmed. Using the knowledge earned from literature and the conducted research I have proposed a standard of nursing care for nurses called "Capillary blood sampling to determine the level of glycemia." Nurses will have an opportunity to have a manual at hand that will serve them as a quide to correctly perform capillary blood sampling to determine the level of glycemia and they will not be consider the blood sampling to be a routine procedure.
Prevention of substance abuse by children and adolescents in the Czech Budweis.
KRYGAROVÁ, Radka
The work deals with the possibilities of prevention of substance abuse in children and adolescents in the Czech Budejovice. The theoretical part covers basic concepts, risk factors and prevention of substance abuse, and its species, preventive measures, programs and people who work with prevention target group, so with children and youth. The empirical section provides a description of some of the selected options and institutions, dealing with prevention in the Czech Budejovice. This information is supplemented by interviews with people who work at those places. There is also outlined their particular work in the field of prevention, and personal opinions on the subject, allowing the creation of the actual and diverse perspective on the provided prevention.
The use of the news media and the internet in the prevention of diseases
KRMENČÍKOVÁ, Lucie
This Diploma Thesis focuses on the use of key Czech media in the prevention of diseases, on an analysis of their levels and on the possible impact on recipients. It also investigates to what extent are topics interconnected with commercial communication and how commercial background determines such communication. In the theoretical part of this Diploma Thesis I attempted to give a brief and comprehensible outline of the issues conserning the prevention of diseases and the mass media according to the most up-to-date information. The main aim of the practical part of this Diploma Thesis was to map the frequency by which health-related preventive material is published in key Czech media. A further aim of this Diploma Thesis was to discover the main topics that key media deal with. The quantitative data collection method and media analyses were applied in this part of the Diploma Thesis. It ensues from my research that key media mostly concentrate on topics conserning the prevention of malignant tumors. Advertisements that are concerned with the prevention of selected illnesses usually refer food supplements and curative preparations. The results of this Diploma Thesis further indicate that prevention of diseases mass media is not neglected; nonetheless, I am the opinion that the frequency of publication could be higher. On the contrary, there could be less commercial communication that goes along with material that focuses on health-related prevention issues. I am convinced that the prevention of diseases with use of the news media is the basic step to a healthy population without which we cannot envisage our future. The result of this Diploma Thesis can be applied in the creation of preventive programmes and information strategies regarding disease prevention.
Valuation of the enterprise ZAPA beton a.s.
Zapletal, Tomáš ; Kislingerová, Eva (advisor) ; Kotáb, Jiří (referee)
The aim of this Master's thesis was to find out enterprise value dated 1.1. 2011, characterise risk connected with this value, for example as a variability of possible results and to judge how the enterprise was affected by the economic crises. I used method discounted cash flow in variant FCFF to calculate enterprise value. I used regression analysis as the basic method to predict the most significant value generator, sales, then I adjusted the results according to the predictions published in qualitative studies of the Czech building industry. The demand for enterprise production was reduced as a result of the economic crises; it enforced production reduction and led to decline in sales and profit in years 2009 and 2010, deteriorating of rentability indicators and long-term assets turnover. I found out the enterprise value with the help of software Crystal Ball also by the stochastic model. In this case I regarded the factors influencing the enterprise value as random quantities. Variability of the possible results ranges between upper and lower limit, i.e. between 1,8 and 3,2 billion crowns.
Working Conditions of Teenagers
BRABENCOVÁ, Věra
So as to elaborate my bachelor thesis I chose the theme of "Working Conditions of Teenagers". This problem seems to me interesting and very up-to-date. The target I chose for my work was to gather information on working conditions of teenagers in selected secondary professional schools and secondary vocational schools by means of the questionnaire survey and its evaluation. As for the survey I chose the method of the quantitative survey, as for the data collection technique I used the questionnaire. The targets chosen were fulfilled in accordance with my ideas; the questionnaire survey was realized without any substantial difficulties. Hypotheses concerned the awareness of the staff on the legislative limitation while employing teenagers, sufficiency of the work-health care provided to teenagers and satisfaction of teenagers with working conditions in professional practical trainings. All the three hypotheses were validated. The second and the third hypotheses, however, were not filled as unambiguously as the first one, therefore let me suggest precautions to improve working conditions of teenagers {--} more consistent observance of the obligation to undergo not only the entry medical examination but even the regular preventive medical examinations and the monitoring whether this obligation has been fulfilled; mutual efforts to maintain the unconflictful and collegiate relations between the apprentices and their foremen, using the most quality instruments and tools and, last but not the least, also the higher assessment of the work.
