Data Warehouse Management and MWF Optimization
Matoušková, Barbora ; Maryška, Miloš (advisor) ; Faina, Michal (referee)
This thesis focuses on the data warehouse of an extensive bank intitution from its operational management point of view (for the main part). To grasp the fast overview of the data warehouse the thesis includes the description of its data architecture, transformation processes and the way of presenting data to its users. Besides that the description of systems used for both the business data and for the metadata purposses is also included in this thesis. The thesis also covers operational activities including the identification of weak areas and their improvements. Another part of the thesis is represented by the project of optimization of a scheduling mechanism (Master Workflow) for running transformation processes, that helps to minimalize the metadata load of the Teradata database system. The main goal of this thesis is to describe the environment of the data warehouse in an understandable way. It's critical to understand the environment for both, the operational management personnel and for developers, that can supply the warehouse with higher quality solutions and ease the deployment of new deliveries into the production environment. This goal is achieved by the description of the data warehouse (mainly the description of its data architecture, transformation processes, operational activities and tools used to deploy changes into the production environment). Another goal is to give a feedback on the operational activities from the operational personnel point of view. This helps identify weak spots and can lead to its elimination. The last goal is to improve the scheduling mechanism that controls and runs all transformation processes. This goal is achieved by a project. The thesis describes the starting state, implemented changes, final state and the consideration whether the project was successful or not. The thesis brings several contributions: easier understanding of the data warehouse and the way of managing ETL processes -- for the operational management personnel and developers, which can bring the improvement of new solutions. The possibility of elimination of weak areas in the operational activities. And thanks to the project described there are two changes -- standardization and the metadata load of Teradata decreased. My own contribution to this issue is, besides the useful introduction to the data warehouse, the identification of the weak areas, suggested improvements and also the project of optimization Master Workflow which took about 17 MD. The thesis is devided into chapters based on the topics described: introductory information, theoretical base, characteristics of the main systems, the description of the data warehouse, the description of operational activities including the identification of weak areas, and at the end there is the project of optimization of Master Workflow. In the last chapter there is the final conclusion of the entire thesis.

Ověření možnosti lokalizace pomocí metody TOA (time of arrival).

International trade with strategically important commodities focused on crude oil
ČIHÁKOVÁ, Bohumila
The aim of the thesis "International trade with strategically important commodities focused on crude oil" was archieved by analysis of current situation of trade with strategically important commodities focused on crude oil. Based on this analysis was integrated the Czech Republic in the internation trade with crude oil, how the state is affected by this trade and the prospect of further development of international trade with crude oil. At first was studied the theoretical solutions, which help to compose literary research. Terms as international trade, commodities, strategic commodities and crude oil were defined in this part of thesis. The attantion in another part of thesis was focused on the analysis the crude oil market. There were detected the most important world crude oil producers, states with the largest crude oil reserves, the largest consumers of oil, the major exportersv and importers of this strategic commodity and compared the world oil pruduction with crude oil consumption. The possible development of consumption and production in 2035 was also in this part outlined. Current situation on the crude oil market in the Czech Republic in 2012 showed that there are not significant crude oil reserves which would cover the consumption of the population in the country. It follows that the Czech Republic is dependent on crude oil import from Russian Federation, which may arise a varior international risks such as disruption of crude oil supplies, the use of crude oil as a political weapon or conflicts between states.

Economic research bulletin (2011, No.2). Macro-financial linkages: theory and applications
Česká národní banka
The first article presents a model that incorporates credit frictions and serves to describe the dynamics of credit spreads in moderate as well as crisis times. The model is then used to evaluate the effects of quantitative easing and credit easing. The second article proposes a model that shows how the conditions of a parent bank might affect the interest rate setting of its subsidiary or branch in a foreign country, and is followed by an empirical assessment of the ten largest banks in the Czech Republic under foreign control. The remaining papers are of an empirical nature. The third article investigates the household credit market in the Czech Republic, proposing a new indicator of default risk and examining its determinants. The fourth article evaluates the extent to which financial variables help predict key Czech macroeconomic indicators. The last article presents evidence on the degree and evolution of financial integration of the Czech Republic and four other EU countries outside the euro area.

The CNB has been targeting inflation for ten years now. We have decided to take this opportunity to present recent CNB research related to the inflation targeting strategy. The first two articles contribute to the discussion about how the inflation targeting strategy should be evaluated. They both point out that it is not enough simply to count how many times inflation was on target. One alternative way of measuring the success of the strategy is suggested in the first article. Partial simulations with the forecast model can help us understand the reasons for deviations of inflation from the target. Another alternative is proposed in the second article, which emphasises that success is conditional on transparent and consistent communication of inflation factors. The next two articles focus on one of the most prominent features of the inflation process – persistence – and its implications for the inflation targeting strategy. They both find that inflation persistence may be lower in the Czech case than one might expect. The third article – based on microeconomic data – provides evidence that inflation persistence has declined during the ten years of inflation targeting. The fourth article – based on macroeconomic data – estimates the level of the inflation target perceived by the public and illustrates that the strategy has gained credibility and has managed to stabilise perceived inflation at low levels.

Does inflation targeting make a difference?
Mishkin, Frederic S. ; Schmidt-Hebbel, Klaus
This study is about evidence, which suggests that inflation targeting helps countries achieve lower inflation in the long run, have a smaller inflation response to oil-price and exchange-rate shocks, strengthen monetary policy independence, improve monetary policy efficiency, and obtain inflation outcomes closer to target levels. Some benefits of inflation targeting are larger when inflation targeters have achieved disinflation and are able to make their inflation targets stationary.

Qualitative research on methods used for stress-release of anxious children practiced by kindergarten teachers.
FOJTÍKOVÁ, Kristýna
The main aim of my research was to find out and describe the methods which are used to calm down and relax anxious children in kindergartens. In the theoretical part I described elementary psychological topics which are a base for understandingproblems of origins, symptoms and consequences of preschool children's anxiety. This part includes description of educational parental approaches and their possible impact on the rise and development of the child's anxiety. At the end of this part there's a brief excursus concerning the meaning of fairy-tales, especially from the psycho-analytical point of view. In the methodological part I tried to explain the used methods of my research: grounded theory , involved observation, half-structured interview and the ways of its cosiny. In the research part I developed the analysis of interviews in the concerned chapters. The main meaning lies in description of the methods and approaches used by teachers to achieve positive change in feelings of an anxious child. I extend my findings with a brief characteristics and impact of specific methods which are used by teachers to calm down and relax children in kindergartens. In conclusion I summarized the key facts. These facts cocern both general and specific methods which can help an anxious child cope with his anxiety and support his personal development.

Social Worker as a Member of the Multidisciplinary Team in the Therapeutic Community
MÁCHOVÁ, Tereza
The present thesis is preliminary focused on the mapping and description of the scope of work of a social worker and the definition of his/her position within a multidisciplinary team of a therapeutic community. A description of the cooperation between a social worker and other members of multidisciplinary team within a therapeutic community shall be understood as a partial goal of the thesis. The bachelor thesis is divided into the theoretical part and the practical part. The theoretical part contains definitions of basic terminology hereof: a social worker, a therapeutic community and a multidisciplinary team. This way, the comprehensive theoretical frame of the issue in question has been elaborated, which establishes a starting point for the following practical part of the thesis. In accordance with the main objective of the bachelor thesis the practical part contains a definition related to the following three survey questions: 1) What is the core role of a social worker within a therapeutic community? 2) How the other members of a therapeutic community perceive the importance of social work? 3) What is the position of a social worker within multidisciplinary team of a therapeutic community? In order to perform the survey, the qualitative research strategy was applied, as well as interviewing method and a technique of sub-structured interviews. The sample group has been formed by five members of a multidisciplinary team of one selected therapeutic community. The sourced data had to be analysed using the method of cluster analysis. The survey has revealed the work of a social worker within a therapeutic community lies in particular in social agenda addressing. These are mainly the cases when a client is provided with help in the field of social contributions and benefits and also in the field of debts. A social worker shall also instruct and teach a client what are the right approaches to his/her own matters and shall help him/her to come back to ordinary life successfully. Based on the survey, it has appeared that the other team members perceive the social work as day-to-day and integral part of activities within a therapeutic community, which is then being reflected also in a therapeutic process. The social work performed at the beginning of a treatment is understood by all the workers as the most important activity. It was also confirmed that a social worker represent an integral part of multidisciplinary team of a therapeutic community. The other team members appreciate his/her contribution especially to the field of social work expert knowledge which they do not have. A social worker's role within a team is to work as a coordinator and lecturer who helps to bring an explanation related to the social work towards all the other members of a team. The contribution of the present bachelor thesis lies in the increase of up-to-now awareness related to the activities and roles of a social work within a therapeutic community. The present thesis may also contribute to extended awareness of expert and general public. The bachelor thesis may be also useful as a background document for the elaboration of a diploma thesis.

Volunteering as one of the possible components of social rehabilitation
FUČÍKOVÁ, Kateřina
The goal of diploma work is to describe current state of volunteering within social rehabilitation in the facilities providing social services in the town of Benešov and the surrounding area. Partial aim of diploma work is to find out the positive effects of the project Patron which was included in the work as an example of application of volunteering within social. With regards of the above mentioned goals, two research questions were set. 1. How is volunteering within social rehabilitation being used in organisations providing social services? 2. What are the positive effects of project Patron? Quantitative strategy, questioning method, the technique of managed and semi managed interview were used for research. Set research questions were answered by means of three research sets, where the technique of semi managed interview was used and one research subject, where the technique of managed interview was used. To ascertain the first research question a research set comprising of 10 social workers employed in facilities providing social services in the town of Benešov or the surrounding area was determined. Given criteria for taking part in the research was the length of employment of social workers being more than on year in their profession. The range of questions for the first research set was prepared for the case when the facility was using the help of volunteers and not. After gaining the necessary data, interviews were rewritten and evaluated with the help of open coding process when all the data was clearly organized into each category. Results arising from data gained in the first research set show that all facilities, where the informants work, providing social services apply social rehabilitation. The research further shows that 7 out of 10 facilities for social services use volunteers who participate on social rehabilitation of their clients and they are in the direct contact with clients. Volunteers, according to gained results, work with clients individually and in groups. 5 of the facilities using the help of volunteers are considering the expansion of volunteering and thinking about other areas where they could include the work of volunteers. One of the facilities which does not use volunteers is preparing for including volunteers in their work. Second research question of diploma work was researched by the means of third research sets and one research subject. The second set comprised of 5 boys who live in children's home near the town of Benešov and who are the clients of project Patron. The third research sets comprised of 5 men who volunteer for the project Patron. To complete information about project Patron and interview with a research subject representing the manager of project Patron was made. To gain necessary data the interviews were rewritten and then evaluated. Data gained from the second and third research sets were evaluated with the help of open coding process when all the data was clearly organized into each category Information gained from research subject was based on the research technique interpreted with the help of interview transcription. Data obtained from research sets show that clients and volunteers of project Patron get to know each other during common weekends. Volunteers meet the clients approximately once or twice a month to take part in their favourite activities and to talk. The research further shows volunteers and clients have good relationships based on trust. Based on answers from all informants we can without doubt claim that project Patron has very big positive effect. Clients of the project state they are glad they gained a new adult friend because in the children's home they lack male role models. Volunteers see the positive effect of project Patron in the possibility to help boys from children's home to get to know the world with the help of adult male.

The Use of the Allowance for Care by the Elderly in 2010-2011
VÍTOVÁ, Jaroslava
This thesis deals with the issue of assessing seniors' needs in relation to the urgency of their admission into a residential care facility. Act No. 108/2006 on social services has significantly changed the way people can obtain necessary assistance. Now it is possible to purchase social services thanks to a social welfare benefit in form of an attendance allowance. There was an assumption that if there is a development in field social work, seniors will remain in their natural environment and therefore the interest in residential care facilities for older people will lower. However, this assumption was not met. The number of senior citizens interested in retirement homes greatly exceeds the capacity of individual facilities. When we assess the needs of seniors related to admission to a residential facility, such need is perceived as an insufficiency. If we get rid of this need or provide support to satisfy it, we achieve safety and security. The extent of such support can vary. The level of help people need determines the amount they receive as an attendance allowance, but it is not the only criterion for preferential admission into a retirement home. Seniors' difficult life situation does not have to be directly related to the level of help they need. If seniors get a lot of points during assessment of their degree of autonomy, self-sufficiency and objective conditions, it does not necessarily imply that they need to be urgently admitted into a residential care facility. This assessment is carried out according to methodological documents devised by the retirement home. The thesis uses a qualitative research strategy; that is, content analysis, case study and qualitative evaluation. Residential care facilities came up with requirements for objective assessment and selection of seniors to be admitted in order to reduce the number of applicants - from several hundred to a group that needs to be admitted urgently. These requirements led to a preparation of methodological materials that describe the whole standard procedure of interaction with people interested in the residential social service. Next, a method of point score system to select the candidates was also established. One of the aims of this thesis was to carry out a qualitative evaluation of methodological documents of a specific residential care facility for older people. Next goal was to assess the seniors' needs before they are admitted to residential care. A content analysis of social investigation records was also conducted. The results showed that the most important needs of seniors are safety and security. Older people submit applications for retirement homes, although they actually do not want to use this service. It is a manifestation of their fear of the future and it has a significant impact on the number of registered applications. On one hand, it is important to regard people as fully-fledged, independent, free and responsible beings at any age. But on the other hand, it is also vital to be aware of various limits and restrictions arising from natural ageing. We usually encounter two extreme opposites when we communicate with older people. Seniors usually overestimate or significantly underestimate themselves in the area of autonomy and self-sufficiency. If these areas were only self-evaluated and objective reality (or senior's surroundings) was not taken into account, the assessment result would be significantly distorted. Quality of needs' assessment and level of social investigation directly depend on the knowledge, skills and abilities of social workers; one of their most important skills is the ability to reflect.
