The effect of the treatment with elicitors on the content of some biologically active constituents in chosen plant
PETR, Jindřich
The aim of this thesis was to study the effect of the acetylsalicylic acid on the stimulation of plant immunity and thus the influence on the content of the active constituents in Silybum marianum L. plants. The main active constituents of Silybum marianum L. seeds are silybine, silydianine, isosilybine, silycristine, usually expressed as silymarine content, and taxifoline. These constituents have antihepatotoxic effect and many different protective effects on numerous organs and cells. Knowledge about stress and elicitation, origin, botanical characterization, growth, development and cultivation of Silybum marianum L. were summarized before the research. The small-plot experiment was set up in Hluboká nad Vltavou in 2013. Plants of Silybum marianum were divided into four groups and then three goups were treated three times during the vegetation with the acetylsalicylic acid of three different concentrations - 10-3 mol.l-1 (high), 10-4 mol.l-1 (medium) a 10-5 mol.l-1 (low). Every single one group was treated with only one concentration of the acetylsalicylic acid. The last group was treated only with water and served as a control group. The preparation of the extracts was being held with using mixture of acetone, methanol and water. The extracts were determined by High Performance Liquid Chromatography. The effects of each chosen concetration of acetylsalicylic acid (high, medium, low) on the active constituents in seeds were not statistically proven compared to seeds without aplication of the elicitor (control group). The ineffectiveness of the elicitor should have been also caused by nonoptimal condition of plants due to various abiotic and biotic stressors.
The issue of stress of selected social workers in Strakonice
WOLFOVÁ, Pavlína
The thesis deals with the stress of social workers in selected institutions in Strakonice. The thesis has six chapters in total, of which the first five are theoretical and the last chapter that concerns practical investigation. Theoretical chapters are based on literature and provide basic general information about stress such as the theory of stress, definition of stress, stressor. They also contain a chapter on social and personal predispositions and stress management, which describes the role of faith, residence concepts, help syndrome, stress at work, supervision. The last of the theoretical chapters discusses the consequences of stress mental hygiene and ways to measure stress. The empiric research follows up on the theoretical chapters. First of all, all methods used in the research are described and it is explained why these have been used. Methods are followed by the sample of examined group, individual profiles of respondents and data analysis. Follows the controversy over the acquired knowledge, which is part of the discussion and followed by the conclusion of the whole work.
What does make teachers stressed?
LOJDA, Josef
The thesis deals with the issue of stress in teachers. The concepts of teacher, stressor, stress and burn out syndrome are explained, as well as the connection between them. The theoretical part is focused on the stress prevention and the defense against stress. The aim of the practical part is to detect the main stressors in teachers, as well as the frequency and the intensity of their stress and negative emotions experience with regard to their professional age, sex and specialization. Further, teachers' knowledge about stress and their effort to prevent themselves from experiencing it are investigated.
Stressors operating on patients in hospital care.
PECHOVÁ, Veronika
This diploma thesis is focused on stressors influencing patients in hospital care. The theoretical part describes stress and stressors, the influence of stress on the state of health, and I further deal with health and illness and the importance of the support provided by the patient?s family in the course of treatment. In the practical part I compare results that I obtained from three medical facilities. The first objective of my thesis was to find out what kind of stressors hospitalised patients meet with most frequently. To achieve this objective, I set a hypothesis. H1 ? The extent of stress load in patients depends on the extent of information on their illness, course of treatment and nursing care. Another objective of mine was to compare whether the extent of stress is different in various departments. This is dealt with in the second hypothesis. H2 - The extent of stress is influenced by the type of department in which the patient is hospitalised. My last objective was to find out what helps patients to deal with stressful situations. To achieve this objective, I set the third hypothesis. H3 ? Dealing with stress when staying in hospital depends on the functionality of the patient?s family and the attitude of the nursing staff. To conduct the research I employed the method of quantitative survey in the form of questionnaires. The questionnaire contained altogether 21 questions. I chose three facilities of medical care to obtain the required data. The target group were clients hospitalised in the hospital in České Budějovice, further in the hospital in Český Krumlov and in the hospital in Prachatice. The total number of correctly completed questionnaires is 228, which means that 57% of correctly completed ones out of 400 returned. The results have proved that hypothesis No. 1 has a considerable influence on patients? stress because patients with a high rate of information experience high stress only in 6.9 per cent, while patients with an insufficient rate of information experience high stress up to 58.6 per cent. In hypothesis No. 2, I also succeeded in proving a considerable influence, because up to 20.2 per cent of patients in surgical departments experience high stress, while it is only 5.3 per cent of respondents in internal departments. In hypothesis No. 3, a considerable influence has also been proved, because patients with functioning families experience low stress to a much larger extent, while low stress in patients with non-functioning families was experienced by only a small number of respondents. Similarly, the attitude of medical staffs influences the extent of stress. The results of my research can be offered to various kinds of facilities of medical and social care, to improve the quality of nursing care and eliminate some stressors. Further, these results can be offered to students of various branches of medicine studies. However, this research is of noticeable importance for the comfort of patients in various facilities mentioned above.
The Interaction between Psychological Stress and the Immune System
DAŇKOVÁ, Barbora
This work deals with the effect of undesirable stress on human organism and follows the responses of immunity system to long-term psychical burden. The goal is to provide a survey on this interaction and to alert to the burnout syndrome as manifestation of weakening of the organism at all its levels. The knowledge on the causes, symptoms and prevention of burnout syndrome is focused on the personality of the teacher whose profession is included among the most endangered ones. The results of the work confirmed the presence of the symptoms of burnout syndrome among teachers and alerted to the fact that stress is mostly present at the physical level or their perception. This work points out that the information on the manifestations of burnout syndrome is unquestionably included among the knowledge directed at efficient prevention.
