Lactose intolerance and diet solution

This bachelor thesis deals with lactose intolerance and dietary solutions. The work is divided into a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part describes lactose intolerance, for example pathophysiology, incidence, clinical presentation, diagnosis, complications and treatment. The importance of drinking milk for children is explained in the chapter called Milk. The theoretical part is mainly devoted to dietary solutions. Lactose tolerance and principles of a low- lactose diet and lactose-free diet are described there. The table below contains an overview of common dairy products, including their hidden lactose value. Food which should be eatten, if lactose intolerance appears is described in the food section. This section is divided into naturally lactose free, reduced lactose and lactose free and alternative foods. The theoretical part also includes nutrition recommendations in cases of lactose intolerance. The practical part is about public knowledge of lactose intolerance. The aim was to determine if the respondents were familiar with the basic characteristics of the disease, with dining options for people with lactose intolerance, complications associated with the disease and whether they consume milk and dairy products or not. Consumption of milk and dairy products in context with lactose and casein intolerance

The focus of this bachelor thesis is the consumption of milk and dairy products in connection with lactose and casein intolerance. The theoretical part deals with the milk's structure, its creation process, division, different kinds of intolerance and health benefits. This thesis deals also with different kinds of dairy products. The practical part includes questionnaire concerning milk consumption and its following analysis. The main goal of this thesis is a seeking of how often, how even and if the questioned people drink milk and dairy products at all, how often, their preferences for dairy products and percentage of suffering from lactose and casein intolerance among the general population. An additional goal is creating a comprehensive work that can be used in the process of choosing a milk and offers enough information about the topic that is commonly discussed in media and on the Internet in general.
Supply of a specific assortment of goods on the Czech and German retail market

This bachelors thesis is concerned with the supply of products with reduced lactose content and products with dairy substitutes in retail chains operating on the Czech and German markets. The objective is to assess the extent of the physical accessibility of this assortment of goods and its availability at different price levels in both countries. The thesis is divided into two sections. The first section is theoretical. It defines the consumers of lactose-reduced dairy products and non-dairy products with regards to their needs and requirements as to this range of products and includes an estimate of the size of this market segment. Market segmentation theory with a focus on segmentation variables, legislative regulations concerning the specified range of products and producers and brands acting on both markets are also summarised. Section two follows the first section with an overview of the field research conducted of select shops from both markets. The products and their prices are observed and shops are evaluated based on their fulfilment of the set consumption basket, the number of products available, and labeling in shops. Price analysis is concerned with the prices of select types of products from both markets. The supply of the specific assortment of goods on both markets and the position of Czech and German consumers is assessed on this basis and lastly, market opportunities for this range of products are stated.
