Expert system NPS
Plch, Miroslav ; Polách, Petr (referee) ; Jirsík, Václav (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the suggestion to set a knowledge base for an expert system. Knowledge base is made for the topic of vibrations and sounds inside an automobile. The solution is based on a diagnostic expert system NPS32. The base that is produced can be used to identify the most frequent automobile defects.
Automated Weight Tuning for Rule-Based Knowledge Bases
Valenta, Jan ; Pokorný, Miroslav (referee) ; Zbořil, František (referee) ; Jirsík, Václav (advisor)
This dissertation thesis introduces new methods of automated knowledge-base creation and tuning in information and expert systems. The thesis is divided in the two following parts. The first part is focused on the legacy expert system NPS32 developed at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication, Brno University of Technology. The mathematical base of the system is expression of the rule uncertainty using two values. Thus, it extends information capability of the knowledge-base by values of the absence of the information and conflict in the knowledge-base. The expert system has been supplemented by a learning algorithm. The learning algorithm sets weights of the rules in the knowledge base using differential evolution algorithm. It uses patterns acquired from an expert. The learning algorithm is only one-layer knowledge-bases limited. The thesis shows a formal proof that the mathematical base of the NPS32 expert system can not be used for gradient tuning of the weights in the multilayer knowledge-bases. The second part is focused on multilayer knowledge-base learning algorithm. The knowledge-base is based on a specific model of the rule with uncertainty factors. Uncertainty factors of the rule represents information impact ratio. Using a learning algorithm adjusting weights of every single rule in the knowledge base structure, the modified back propagation algorithm is used. The back propagation algorithm is modified for the given knowledge-base structure and rule model. For the purpose of testing and verifying the learning algorithm for knowledge-base tuning, the expert system RESLA has been developed in C#. With this expert system, the knowledge-base from medicine field, was created. The aim of this knowledge base is verify learning ability for complex knowledge-bases. The knowledge base represents heart malfunction diagnostic base on the acquired ECG (electrocardiogram) parameters. For the purpose of the comparison with already existing knowledge-basis, created by the expert and knowledge engineer, the expert system was compared with professionally designed knowledge-base from the field of agriculture. The knowledge-base represents system for suitable cultivar of winter wheat planting decision support. The presented algorithms speed up knowledge-base creation while keeping all advantages, which arise from using rules. Contrary to the existing solution based on neural network, the presented algorithms for knowledge-base weights tuning are faster and more simple, because it does not need rule extraction from another type of the knowledge representation.
Expert systems for choosing field of study
Vítek, Aleš ; Polách, Petr (referee) ; Jirsík, Václav (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the suggestion to set a knowledge basis for an expert system enabling a choice of study specialization at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication Brno University of Technology (abbrev. FEKT VUT). The expert system would recommend one of the six study branches at the FEKT VUT to the Year 4 secondary school students and Year 1 winter term students of the FEKT VUT. The expert system would gradually ask questions to the single study applicants. Their answers would put the study branches in order of suitability, from the most to the least suitable ones for the applicants.

Thesis analyses the problems of energy sources evaluation during the reconstruction of an object or new building. There are described representatives of heat sources for given energy sources in text. rough view of how to proceed in searching for acceptable energy source is made here. this problematics is solved by the help of diagnostic expert system NPS32. created knowledge base could be used for sale support or for users for easier orientation in this problematics.
Information System Selection
Šebesta, Petr ; doc. Ing. Petr Sodomka, Ph.D., MBA (referee) ; Koch, Miloš (advisor)
The thesis deals with problems of enterprise information system selection. Based on theoretical knowledge in the field of information systems and their development is the analysis of enterprise information system selection and situation on czech market. Solution suggestions consist of optimal enterprise information system project description and description of created expert system knowledge base for pre-selection of enterprise information system.
Expert system
Šimková, Jana ; Polách, Petr (referee) ; Jirsík, Václav (advisor)
The main point of the work is an identification with NPS32 expert system, the describtion of the ways of getting knowledges. By choosing a suitable district for the expert system aplication, the suggestion of the knowledge base for the district will have been the result of the work.
Petri nets for expert systems
Million, Pavel ; Pohl, Jan (referee) ; Jirsík, Václav (advisor)
Purpose of this master thesis is description of base parts of expert system with using Petri nets. Attention is mainly concentrate to knowledge base, way of storing knowledge. Next parts are describing main different between production base knowledge for planning or diagnostic expert system from Petri nets view. In this thesis conditions of using Petri nets and way of interpretation knowledge for inference mechanism in planning and diagnostic expert system are described. Using of high level Petri nets and language describing Petri nets structure and behaviour are demonstrated in next part of this thesis.

Expert systems
Veselovský, Michal ; Konečný, Pavel (referee) ; Dvořák, Jiří (advisor)
Expert systems (ES) are commercially one of the most succesfull use of artificial intelligence (AI) - since eighties of the 20th century. They are often used in medicine, industry, science, trade, banking etc. Expert system is a software using knowledge of human experts for solving very complicated tasks and problems, which would otherwise require participating or consultation of one or more specialists on these issues. This software simulates decision-making of human expert in solving complicated tasks, and tries to reach the most probable result, ideally same as the expert´s opinion. Typical feature of expert systems, differencing it from usual software, is separating of decision making engine (inference engine) and knowledge base – same expert system with different knowledge base may serve for different purposes. This feature is used for creating empty expert systems – shells. Other features, which may not occur at all ES, are ability to make decision with uncertainty, and ability to explain the decision. Goal of this work is to describe basic principles of ES, using freely available information sources, and then describe and analyze resources for creating of these systems, using mainly information from official web sites.
Web graphic knowledge base editor for expert system NEST
Kozák, Martin ; Zamazal, Ondřej (advisor) ; Berka, Petr (referee)
Main goal of this thesis is development of knowledge base editor designed to work online. Such editor would provide its user with all tools that are necessary to create and modify knowledge base in a graphic and user-friendly working environment. This editor is developed for system NEST (New Expert SysTem), which is an expert system developed on University of Economics, Prague. Created editor is named WEBZ it is created as a web application. WEBZ is written in Java and build on Vaadin framework. Vaaadin is a framework created to develop web application while supporting a creation of graphic user interface. The thesis first chapter is a theoretical introduction into expert systems with a brief description of NEST. The description of NEST continues in second chapter, which is focused on a knowledge base of this expert system. In the following chapter, Vaadin framework is briefly described. The thesis continues with the comparison between WEBZ and its predecessors. Last two chapters are dedicated to description of WEBZ both from the perspective of user and from the perspective of developer.
