Model of the metropolitan optical network
Prudík, Jiří ; Hudcová, Lucie (referee) ; Křivák, Petr (advisor)
The purpose of this master’s thesis is foremost to provide a simple guide how to build elements of optical metropolitan area network. The basic model consists to sequence of construction, network topology, passive and active parts. The collection contains examples of alternative technology such as Wireless LAN with different frequency. The optical network construction based on optical cable, fibres, splices, trays, adapters, connectors and active parts for example a lot of media convertor models. After that there are demonstrating type of wavelength division multiplexer used in metropolitan area network – passive planar PCL splitter. One of the passive planar splitter are used to increase optical fibre channel. At the end of the collection a simplified examples of used measurements – optical time domain reflectometry and optical fibre transmission. Contains standard protocols or reflectogram. The conclusion of this thesis summarizes costs of FTTb (Fibre To The Building) model of optical metropolitan area network in Czech republic and future contribution for society.
Distributed measurement of acoustic vibrations and temperature
Bukovský, Jan ; Záviška, Pavel (referee) ; Münster, Petr (advisor)
This work deals with the problem of vibration and temperature measurement using standard telecommunication optical fibers. The main focus of this work is on the measurement of these parameters with distributed acoustic sensing systems (DAS). In this work are also discussed the issues of vibration and temperature measurement with distributed strain and temperature sensing systems (DSTS), with distributed temperature sensing systems (DTS) and with interferometric systems. As part of this work, measurements were made in the laboratory with a commercial DAS system. During these measurements, vibrations and temperature changes around the fiber were simulated. Several methods of data processing have been proposed to evaluate the measured data. The proposed methods of data processing and evaluation of the measured data can be found in the last part of this work.
OTDR optical path analyzer
Šimková, Barbora ; Tomašov, Adrián (referee) ; Dejdar, Petr (advisor)
The aim of this master's thesis was a theoretical analysis of OTDR issues, analysis of OTDR device components, as well as basic parameters of this device. The thesis also includes a theoretical analysis of reflections, scattering, and various types of connectors. In the practical part, a circuit design for OTDR measurement was developed and subsequently implemented. The circuit was realized using the Red Pitaya development board and Koheron laser. Additionally, a circuit for direct method measurement was also created. In the LabView development environment, a program was created, including a graphical user interface. A laboratory task was also designed to provide a basic understanding of OTDR measurement issues.
Measurement and monitoring of optical fiber infrastructures
Baláž, Dominik ; Tomašov, Adrián (referee) ; Münster, Petr (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with measurement and monitoring methods on optical path. The basic principles and transmission using optical fibers, optical fibers, band splitting and transmission characteristics such as attenuation and dispersion are discussed. The principle of wave multiplexing and recommendations according to ITU-T standards are also presented. Afterwards, measurements on optical fibres are described, instruments and methods for measuring and monitoring the optical path are presented in detail, and these instruments are compared in terms of their parameters and individual functions. In the practical part, cleaning of connectors, inspection of connectors, measurement of optical path without bending and with different bend radii using OTDR, direct method and measurements using FC BERT application, which is a substitute for the monitoring system, are described, the values from these measurements are evaluated both numerically and graphically.
Laboratory exercise - OTDR optical path analyzer
Šimková, Barbora ; Münster, Petr (referee) ; Dejdar, Petr (advisor)
The bachelor's thesis consists of detailed analysis of OTDR problematics and implementation of the connection. Part of the work also consists of theoretical analysis of optical fibers and their transmission properties, especially dispersion and diffraction. Realization of the connection was made using platform Red Pitaya and laserboard Koheron. Final program was created in development environment LabView. The program also contains graphical user interface.
Optical fiber as a distributed temperature sensor
Vošček, Jakub ; Dejdar, Petr (referee) ; Münster, Petr (advisor)
The financial requirements between fiber optic sensors and conventional sensors are gradually declining, which, despite many advatages and wide range of applicationas, has slowed down the demand for these sensors. With the demand for fiber optic sensors also grow the requirements for the parameters of these sensors. This thesis deals with distributed temperature fiber optic sensors. Non--linear phenomen in optical fibers, such as Raman scattering is used for measuring with these sensors. This scatterin was used to obtain information about temperature, which effected the optical cable under the test.
Signal processing in fiber optic sensing systems
Gardáš, Vít ; Sysel, Petr (referee) ; Münster, Petr (advisor)
This master’s thesis is focused on sensory systems and analysis of such signals. In the frst part, a theoretical analysis of each sensory system is conducted. Followingly, appropriate flters were used to process these signals. The last part of this thesis deals with the analysis of measured data.
Graphical user interface for sensing systems
Dejdar, Petr ; Vojtěch, Josef (referee) ; Münster, Petr (advisor)
Master thesis is focused on creating graphical user interface for the sensorical system based on Phase-OTDR. Theoretical part describes optical fibers, explains the principle of Bragg gratings, their production and their use in sensors. Methods of optical fiber attenuation and phase OTDR measurement are also described. Other part is focused on LabVIEW programming software and utilization of sensorical system and its components. Practical part deals with the user interface itself, which consists of two tabs. The first tab is designed for evaluation and display of measured data. The second tab is used to control and set up system components. Both of these tabs are further subdivided into other subtabs. Regarding the conclusion, further development of the program and options of hardware replacement for improving this sensorical system in the future will be discussed.
Processing of signals from fiber optic sensors
Sikora, Vojtěch ; Urban, František (referee) ; Čučka, Milan (advisor)
First two chapters of this paper deals with the division of optical fiber sensors, digital signal processing and includes price comparison of four experimental sensors. In chapter three analysis, description and evaluation of measurment has been demonstrated on Mach - Zehnder interferometer. Last chapter is about application for signal analysis from vibration sensors. Description contains snippets from source code and graphical user interface. This paper includes three fields - fiber optics, digital signal processing and creation of application - and thanks to them it provides solid basis for study of optic fiber sensors.
