The holy foolishness and other expressions of sub-standard behaviour from the point of view of speech-behaviour tactics Based on Dimitry of Rostov's Chetii Minei

The presented thesis deals with the holy foolishness and other expressions of sub- standard behaviour as part of hagiography. It is examined from the point of view of the so-called "singular speech-behaviour tactics" (сингулярные рече-поведенческие тактики) and based on the analysis of texts taken from the most comprehensive corpus of the hagiographic texts written in the Church Slavonic, Dimitry of Rostov's Chetii Minei. The thesis consists of the Introduction, three main chapters, Conclusion and Bibliography. The first chapter focuses on history: it describes relevant works on the Russian hagiographic literature of the 11th-17th centuries concerning the hagiographies of the holy fools, it shows the current state of search in Russia and describes the basic monuments of literature. The second part of this chapter deals with the life and work of a great Russian writer of the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries, Dimitry of Rostov (1651-1709). The second chapter is devoted to the methodological approach used in the thesis, i.e. the singular speech-behaviour tactics as understood by E.M. Vereshchagin and V.G. „I love Justine so much that I can not be without her…“ The metamorphose of the narration from passio to hagiographic romance

There is no article in Legenda aurea or in old Czech Passional which has its pattern from Christian ancient times when acta and passions were creating. The genological prototype of acta has not been reflected in later periods. In spite of this, the prototype of passio is evident with its original topoi (“idols, or torture to death”, imitatio Christi, ancilla Dei, sponsa Christi, desire to death) and the dialogue, which was developer from original examination of Christian by Roman high official. On the hagiographic text about Saint Justine and Saint Cyprian was proved the features of magical novel (Zauberroman). The tendency to narrativity rose up during High Middle Ages, the topoi of beauty and noble birth were added. The character of devil was changed: from the pagan as the (d)evil´s instrument transformed into the personificationed devil.

The childhood and youth of St. Václav and St. Vojtěch in the Czech Legends

This bachelor thesis deals with the childhood and youth of Saint Wenceslaus and Saint Adalbert (Vojtech) in Czech legends. It also describes their perception in Old Church Slavonic and Latin hagiography. The thesis observes the continuity as well as diversity of motives in the individual works. It also shows historic times in which the two saints lived, their destiny and deeds and focuses on their adolescence and relevant dating. The whole thesis continuously confronts the legends with the pieces of knowledge of literary historians and anthropologists with the aim to confirm or disprove the truth of Saint Wenceslaus and Saint Vojtech hagiography.

On Lexical Evidence in the Old Church Slavonic Legend of Saint Anastasia

This study evaluates the lexical character of the Church Slavonic Legend of Saint Anastasia. The analysis of the text results in discovering a high affinity (concordances) of lexical items of this legend with Old Church Slavonic texts of the Czech origin. The conclusions submitted by this paper are important for answering questions concerning the origin of this legend (the place and the time of birth).

Diplomová práce se zabývá postojem Svatého stolce jako subjektu mezinárodního práva k válečným konfliktům a napětí v mezinárodních vztazích v 80. letech 20. století, tedy v době části pontifikátu Jana Pavla II. (1978-2005). V první, spíše teoretické části, jsou vysvětleny základní pojmy vztahující se ke Svatému stolci, papežův primát, vnitřní struktura fungování Římské kurie se zaměřením na Státní sekretariát a Papežskou radu pro spravedlnost a mír, principy diplomacie Svatého stolce, východiska pro pontifikát Jana Pavla II. (II. vatikánský koncil a jeho dokumenty, Ostpolitik Svatého stolce), znaky programu pontifikátu Jana Pavla II. a jím upřednostňované nástroje a aspekty. Druhá, aplikační část, na vybraných případech z 80. let 20. století ? spor o Beaglův průliv, válka o Falklandy, napětí v Polsku, nikaragujský režim a problematika teologie osvobození a občanská válka v Libanonu ? ukazuje konkrétní postoj Svatého stolce či jeho roli v nich.

The Role of the Holy See in International Political Relations After the Second World War

Nejen v běžné publicistice a literatuře, ale často i v odborných statích se setkáváme s jistým hodnocením protagonistů světové politiky. Měřítka, podle kterých se síla toho či onoho subjektu určuje, podle mého názoru, nezabírají často celou škálu faktorů, podle kterých by se z mého pohledu měla míra vlivu na světové dění posuzovat. Není jistě sporu ani pochyb, že vedle bohatství nerostného, teritoriální rozlohy, velikosti armády, síly ekonomiky, je také hledisko duchovní. Moderní výklady dějin se ale více soustředí na neduchovní rozměr toho, čím je kormidlo dějin ovlivňováno. Nicméně stojí minimálně za širší zamyšlení, je-li tomu opravdu tak. Úloha Svatého stolce jako politického hráče byla v posledních desetiletích podceňována. Avšak pováleční papežové, především Jan XXIII. a Jan Pavel II., díky své autoritě, vrátili Svatý stolec zpět mezi důležité politické hráče. Apoštolská stolice však nemůže si do budoucna nemůže automaticky mezinárodní vliv nárokovat. Záleží především na jejím hlavním představiteli, jakým způsobem se svým postavením naloží a jaké ambice zasahovat do mezinárodních událostí bude mít.
