Employment Opportunities for Clients with Mental Retardation in the Institutions of the Social Services
HOLCZEROVÁ, Vladimíra
At present, employment opportunities and subsequent remuneration for people with mental retardation are often discussed. The opinions differ on their right to equal opportunities in employment. They are either considered incapable to work due to their retardation or, they are supposed to be financially secure, thanks to the state and do not have to work. I am persuaded that all work should be paid. This Bachelor´s work is based upon my 16 years of work in one of the social services` institution. The Social Services Act No.108/2006 Coll. which came into act on 1 January 2007 together with the Quality Standards of Social Services have brought distinctive changes in providing social services. While the application of these legislative standards has been very important, it has been very difficult. The staff of the social services institutions and the work of this staff are often underestimated. They help socialise their clients through their work and they need mutual support and cooperation to do that. The clients of the social services institutions apply their working skills in these institutions and also in the open labour market where motivation plays an important role. They need to be praised and appreciated, but remuneration has become an inseparable part of this process. The clients who are employed demonstate that they are capable to live independently on one hand and be useful on the other. All sensible activities improve our clients´ maturity of their behaviour, which leads to better self-control, creating new interests and aid in the development their practical skills. The aim of my work has been to gain information about job opportunities of these clients of the social services institutions and investigate how much these opportunities depend upon the location of the institution. I´ve tried to learn if these clients have been able to find jobs inside or outside the institutions. I believe my work will inspire those who are interested in this situation or it will be of help in dealing with this problem.
The use of social and health services for people with multiple sclerosis
KAŠPAROVÁ, Eva
Multiple sclerosis cerebrospinal is a chronic inflammatory disease of the central nervous system which leads to demyelination of nerve fibres or to their direct loss. Multiple sclerosis is the most common neurological cause of chronic disability in young adults. There is no known effective cure for this disease. It is only possible to reduce the progression rate of the disease by recently available medication and their combinations. Social and health services bring significant benefit to life of people with multiple sclerosis. Health services are important not only for medical treatment but also for support because they try to improve or preserve physical condition and affect also mental condition. Social services become more important as the disease progresses when people are no longer able to cope with routine everyday activities. The objective of my thesis was to suggest suitable health and social services for people with multiple sclerosis. Furthermore, to find out which of these services are used by ill people. The hypothesis of the thesis was: Some types of social services for people with multiple sclerosis are not quantitatively provided unlike health services. In my thesis I used quantitative research, interviewing and the questionnaire method. Questionnaires were filled in by adults with multiple sclerosis in selected organisations {\clqq}Roska`` in the Czech republic. During the research I discovered problems with insufficient awareness of social services and not using contributions and allowances for social services. On the contrary, the results of the research imply that health services are being used. I assume that the hypothesis was confirmed. I find the contribution of the thesis in the fact that I suggested recommendations for suitable health and social services for people with multiple sclerosis. After completion of local contacts, this suggestion could be used as an informative brochure which would be available to people with multiple sclerosis.

KAISERŠOT, František
My thesis named {\clqq}How to survive on the street {--} life strategy of the St Paul´s House occupants`` is devided into two parts, namely into a practical and a theoretical part. In the theoretical part I am concerned with defining of the notion displaced person. The St Paul´s House occupants are mostly individuals in an oppressive social situaton who have lost their homes or lodging. The following chapters map out the life-strategy reasons of the individuals without home, touch the source of origin of the fastidious situation and of the connected mechanism used by the individuals on the streets for surpassing or lessening the impacts of their actual situation. In the practical part I am dealing with description of particular services in the St Paul´s House and with the characteristics of its occupants. The St Paul´s House is a non-state unprofitable organization, which goal is to provide the social services for the individuals in anoppressive situaton, namely to the individuals without home or shelter. As a constituent of the practical part there is a research. It deals with the problems of employment of the St Paul´s House occupants, namely with the variety of the job chosen by the occupants. The problems the St Paul´s House occupants have to encounter are frequently very complicated, the occupant is supported to a self-dependent solution and the result is closely associated with the steps which the individual performs for his survival.
