KALINA ZAPPOVÁ, Petra
Within this work we present a study on the effects of the Harmony intervention programme based on yoga excercises on a group of 5 subjects suffering from Diabetes Mellitus of the 1. type. The effects of the program on the psychological state of the subjects were assessed using the well known POMS questionnaire, the unfinished senteces method and the emphatic conversation technique. The results proved a significant positive improvement in measured criteria, as well as a subjective positive feedback for all the subjects. Thus the results suggest that a daily yogic praxis has a strong positive impact on the overal health of patients suffering from Diabetes Mellitus of the 1. type.
Effect of healthy life for people aged 60 ? 80 years diagnosed with Diabetes mellitus using yoga exercises
KRAJÍČKOVÁ, Simona
In my Bachelor thesis I investigate the influence of Yoga practice on patients suffering from, and being treated for, Diabetes Mellitus Type 2. The research deals with the impact of a 12 week Yoga intervention program. The theoretical study of the subject includes a wide range of comprehensive and relevant literature available. The research part also describes the methodology. Input and output measurements of anthropometric as well as metabolic parameters were gathered, analyzed, discussed and prepared for presentation in cooperation with specialists from the field of Diabetology. In addition the following methods and research tools were employed: ?Quality of Life? questionnaire (PETR, 2000) and the projective technique ?Method of unfinished sentences? (VALKOVA, 2000). Nine selected individuals from the local Diabetes Association participated voluntarily in the research. In the period from November 2011 to January 2012 this group experienced the 12 week Yoga intervention program. Following the programs completion results were processed according to previously presented methods. The observed data shows that the applied Yoga intervention program positively affected the value orientation of the participants as well as positively impacting metabolic parameters (Glycated hemoglobin). The general improvement in overall life quality is evident in the research. Based on these results it can recommend applied Yoga intervention programs for all people diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.
Health Education Benefits of Yoga Exercises at Elementary School Program
MALINOVÁ, Kamila
In my thesis I focused on the influence of regular yoga exercise on the improvement of concentration and physical abilities of pupils in the second and fourth grade in elementary schools using a 12-week intervention program. The aim of this bachelor work was to determine whether regular yoga exercise in primary schools has a positive effect on the development and quality of attention and motor skills of children in primary schools. Furthermore, this work aimed to provide teachers in primary schools with a comprehensive set of yoga exercises appropriate for the age group, which will be regularly applied in the classroom throughout the class. 34 pupils took part in this research survey. In both groups, the intervention yoga program was applied during the months of November 2011 to February 2012. Both groups underwent testing of motor skills and technique of incomplete sentences prior to and after the end of the intervention program, the group S2 (fourth grade students) was additionally tested with d2 attention test. A book Dawn that is being prepared by the author Pavel Klimes was selected for the intervention program. To test hypotheses a mathematical method of T-test statistics was used. The observed data showed a positive effect of the intervention program on the improvement of concentration, aspirations and motor skills in both tested groups. Therefore, we can believe that regular yoga exercise that is included in daily school classes leads to improvement of attention and motor skills of pupils and therefore I recommend a regular use of the Dawn in primary schools.
