The evaluation of horse nutrition with chosen preparats in sommer and winter season
HANETŠLÉGROVÁ, Petra
ABSTRACT The aim of this work was to provide a detailed breakdown of horse nutrition, to mention the importance of dietary supplements. The main part deals with the basics of horse nutrition, the bare necessities of nutrients, the proportion of maintenance rations and the technique of feeding. Afterwards, I outline the properties and effects of varied herbal plants such as garlic, hemp, hyssop, white horehound, coltsfoot and oats. Flaxseed, biotin, zinc, yeast and probiotics are dietary supplements improving the quality of fur, horsehair and hoofs. The feed will be analysed by standard methods. As far as horse excrement is concerned, we are going to observe its shape, colour, consistency, pH value and smell. The assessment of horse excrement will serve as a judgement about the activity of digestive system. The ethology observations will provide information on daily activity of a horse, on particular activities, to which the horse gives its attention during a day, and the amount of time it dedicates to them. As far as horses with respiratory disorders are concerned, we will observe the signs of their health problems and the rate of these problems occurring both at rest and in action. The information will be completed by the measurement of body proportions useful to body weight calculation. The statistical and economic methods will be selected in terms of the results accomplished during the research.
THE QUALITATIVE SEASONAL CHANGES OF THE HORSEŚ HAIR
KUBARTOVÁ, Jana
The result of this work was to find out the changes between the summer and the winter horse{\crq}s coat (the length, the thickness and the density). According to the year season, the way of stabling, the sex and the age. The comparison measured five different body parts in winter and in summer. The samples were taken during 24 months from 44 horses every two months. Each sample contained 100 hairs per horse. The samples were taken from the neck. The review of the summer and the winter coat was made of five different body parts {--} the neck, the shoulder blades, the stomach, the saddle and the hip joint. The hair length was measured by the slide rule. The measuring instrument Lanier, which was 500 bigger. The hair number per 1 cm{$^2$} gave the coat thickness.

Reaction time of sports horses.
KERNEROVÁ, Nina
In this thesis were charted information and methodology about reaction time of horses on optical stimulus. As an optical stimulus was used vehement and unforseen movement by white board (500 x 500 mm) on which horses reacted very well. Reaction scanning was made by high-speed video camera MotionScope 9400, which was connected to a computer. In total was evaluated group of 35 horses. The average age was 5.8 years, the average reaction time on optical stimulus was 152 ms. In experiment was group of 14 thoroughbreds and 21 warmbloods. Group contained 4 stallions, 17 geldings and 14 mares. The largest group was represented by 5 years old (10 representatives). By the thoroughbreds was found out reaction time 154 ms, by the warmblood group 150 ms. Differences between breeds were not statistically significant. The lowest average reaction time was measured out by stallions (139 ms), then mares (149 ms) and the highest rate was by geldings (157 ms). The difference between reaction time of geldings and mares was not statistically significant. The lowest rate was measured out by the age group from 2 to 4 years old (142 ms), then group of 6 to 13 years old (156 ms). The highest rate had group of 5 years old (159 ms). The differences between age groups were not upholded as statistically significant. The correlation coefficient expressing relation between age of horses and reaction time on the optical stimulus was found out very low, that means that it is not statistically significant. In this thesis was proved, that as well as humans, horses react more quickly on acoustic stimulus than on optical stimulus.
