Confiscations after battle of Bílá hora in cities on the example of Old Town in Prague

This text deals with process of confiscations after battle of Bílá hora with the aim at sanctions on cities and their city-dwellers and focuses above all on Prague cities, concretely on Old Town of Prague. In the text, there is outlined the general course of the events after lost battle, which finally result in sanctions of property. The text focused on a work of two commissions, enforcement (executionary) commission and confiscatory commission, whose interference with property structure was probably the strongest; partly it covers also executions after an exit of persons from country for reasons of religion, thus after publication od Obnovené zřízení zemské (may translated as Redefined municipal constitution). In a question of enforcement commission the text concentrates rather on financial incidence than scaffolds itself, which are mentioned only marginally (number of executions, which city-dwellers were executed atc.). Every type of sanction (execution, release from prison, penalty etc.) is then illustrated on cases of city-dwellers of Old Town in Prague, that were participants of this processes. (Dis) honest Citizens of Pardubice - the Town and the Townspeople in the Second Half of the 16th Century

and keywords The theme of this thesis is the history of the town Pardubice in the second half of the 16th century, especially in the 1560s and 1570s when the town became the property of the king. This was the end of the period in which the Pernstejn family had owned this land for 70 years and which is deeply studied because it is considered to be "the golden age" of the town and surrounding demesne. However, the purpose of the following pages is to inform about the development of the town and its inhabitants after the sale of the Pardubice demesne to the royal chamber. All the conslusions are made on the basis of read up literature and archival documents, in particular. The thesis mainly refers to the social structure and interaction of particular groups, authorities of the town (eventually the surrounding demesne) and the town justice - both civil just and criminal law. The intention of this thesis is to obtain some new pieces of knowledge of the regional history, and at the same time to prepare the basis for further studies of the history of Pardubice in the early modern period. Renaissance mural paintings and sgraffiti on the facades in town Prachatice

Práce zpracovává renesanční fasádní nástěnné malby a sgrafita v Prachaticích. Časově je práce vymezena 16. stoletím, kdy město vlastnili Rožmberkové. Největší rozkvět města je spojen s vládou Viléma z Rožmberka v 2. polovině 16. století, kdy ve městě také vnikly všechny výpravnější figurální výzdoby domů. Výzdoba jednotlivých domů odráží postupný majetkový vzestup prachatických měšťanů. Realizace z 50. a 60. let 16. století jsou spíše výtvarně a také technologicky skromnější. Největší vzepětí jak majetkové tak také umělecké lze sledovat od začátku 70. let. Hrdost měšťanů a jejich estetické nároky nejlépe dokládá výzdoba Staré radnice. Nesmírně zajímavá a kvalitní výzdoba prachatických domů otvírá jako celek řadu otázek. Vedle dílenských a uměleckých souvislostí s ostatními jihočeskými městy, je to problém autenticity památky. Na některých fasádách, které byly pokládány za renesanční, se již s renesanční malbou ve skutečnosti nesetkáme. Jedná se o barokní novotvary, které motivickými částmi navázaly na původní výzdobu. Výrazné jsou odkazy na Rožmberky, které připomíná téměř každá fasáda. To nelze vysvětlit jinak, než jako výraz subordinace majiteli panství a tamnímu panovníkovi. The weapons in citizens' homes of Volyne according to preserved inventory of weaponry from 1551

The bachelor thesis deals with weapons in homes of town Volyne according to preserved inventory of weaponry from 1551. The goal is to introduce the level of personal equipment of population in the Early Modern town and interprets it in the context of history of Prachensko. It presents a comparison of documented military equipment with developments of Central European warfare, which has undergone great development due to the significant social changes during the 16th century. The owners of weapons has become another subject of interest. The thesis, through structural approach, evaluates whether the quantity and quality of their equipment was related to their social and property status. It does not neglect possible motives that could lead to the need for citizen to get a gun. The findings are based on historical primary sources concerning evidence. The conclusion summarizes the findings and offers possible directions that would research on the topic might take in the future.

The Memoirs of The Family Moller From Netolice

My Bachelors Thesis ?The Memoirs of The Family Moller From Netolice? aims to introduce memories of burghess family, which comes from 1628 ? 1854. The Thesis is divided into four chapters. The first one briefly describes the history of the town of Netolice from its founding up to the half of the 19th century. The second one deals with issues concerning memoir literature of the 16th - 18th century. The third one provides information about the authors of ?The Memoirs of Moller Family?. The crucial one is the fourth chapter which is concerned with ?The Memoirs? from the formal aspect and the content. The conclusion summarizes all the knowledge. There is an editing process of the part of the extensive manuscript as a part of the thesis, which is attached to appendix.

Between shame and honor. Swear-words of the 16th century in Vodňany

My diploma thesis deals with legal disputes that were lead because of honor or violation in town society in Vodňany. The theoretical part is focused on a historical and historical-legal research in native and foreign area in this topic. A product of this interest is very various sphere, in that I try to access and use gained results within the frame of history of the society, culture, development of law and municipality. The second part of my diploma thesis works with the perception of honor on the basis of different resources {--} these are municipal law-books, literal texts and first of all recourses of criminally-law work of municipal court in Vodňany. One of the chapter is also focused on classification of swear-words that were found in criminally-law work of municipal court. The aim of this diploma thesis was to demonstrate what the notion or perception of the honor was for the citizen who lived in the second part of 16th century in Vodňany.

Poznamenání někderých pamětí od léta Páně 1587. Memoirs of the town councillor Řehoř Smrčka ze Sabinova (1587-1605)

The main topic of my diploma work are memoirs of the townsman Řehoř Smrčka ze Sabinova. The manuscript originated at the turn of the sixteenth and sevententh century was called by its author Poznamenání někderých pamětí od léta Páně 1587. It represents the self written memoirs of the townsmen. According to the content and the character of the records the manuscript may be considered as both the townsmen chronicle as well as the town chronicle. It reflects the experiences of its author and it is possible, through the text of the document, to get to know the events in the town Soběslav. The critical edition of Poznamenání někderých pamětí od léta Páně 1587 is trying to maintain the formal features of the text. The second part of my papers focuses on interpretation of the themes Řehoř Smrčka dealt with. He was the town councillor for the most part of his life and represented the town Soběslav. The main features that influenced the character and the form of the records of the manuscript are mainly the personality and the social status of the author.

Baptism In The Thinking of Early Modern Burghers

The birth and the baptism of child were significant events in the life of people in all historical periods. This diploma thesis demonstrates meaning of the baptism rite and its reflection in the urban society in the Early Modern Age. In comparison to bachelor thesis was used more sources. The research of six families memoirs is supplied with analysis of parish register of Český Krumlov town from 1662 to 1666. Sources of religious area represents catholic, evangelical and Lutheral clerical works and especially polemics. Wider spectrum of sources made possible deeper sight at meaning of baptism and confrontation between religious order and everyday practice in baptism and godparenthood in towns in the 16. and 17. centuries.

Salt business in the memoirs of the Prachatice burgesses

The focus of this paper is on the bourgeoisie of Early New Age, as presented through the manuscript Zápisky Zikmunda Turnovského z Turnštejna a jeho zetě Tobiáše Rumpála z Kunratic v Prachaticích, počaté roku 1666. The manuscript represents the self written memoirs of the burgesses{\crq}. It reflects their experiences and events in their home town of Prachatice. The manuscript may be considered as both the burgess chronicle as well as the town chronicle. The purpose of this work is to confirm or refute the manuscript{\crq}s relations to the other memoirs dating back to the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The main emphases will be on the common and specific signs of the manuscripts. This work can be divided into two parts, namely the edition and interpretation. While the edition deals with the writing and its specifics, the interpretation focuses on its content. The most important part is how the salt business had considerable influence on the history and development of the town and its residents. The authors of the presented manuscript represent Prachatice bourgeoisie. The authors' personalities determine the formal features and themes of the records in the manuscript.
