International Cooperation in Assertion of Sustainable Development Policy
Zhuravlyova, Yelena
Nowadays, in contrast to the situation at the beginning of the ecology movement - the late seventies and early eighties, there is general social consensus that ecological planning and construction should not be a short lived whim but rather long term objectives for all groups involved in building. There is no shortage of concepts, planning and proposals. However, concrete examples of the magnitude required - i.e. anything over and above a detached house or a small settlement of 10 to 20 dwellings - these are still few and far between. The vast majority of new building, and also of urban renewal measures, comes nowhere near putting into practice the ecological design principles which could be implemented in today's world.
Healthy Living
Zhuravlyova, Yelena ; Koutný, Jan (referee) ; Peřinková, Martina (referee) ; Tušer, Jaroslav (referee) ; Urbášková, Hana (advisor)
Over the years, every major city turns into a knot of intractable problems: overpopulation, traffic jams, environmental degradation. Some countries make a faster conversion from an industrial development to an information growth phase, than the infrastructural changes take place. Therefore, environmental design and construction would not be short-termed, but rather will be the long-term targets for all the groups associated with the construction. The healthy living is one of the most important reasons to start a complicated long-term reconstruction of eco-cities. Successful ecological reconstitution requires a knowledge about already implemented exemplary solutions. For this purpose, the dissertation analyzes the basic ecological problems of settlements, analyzing the examples of approaches to improve the environmental performance of cities on the reference of foreign experience and creates criteria and principles for designing urban structures for healthy living in CR.
Reclamation of land affected by mining and their possible integration into project of comprehensive land adjustment
MATOUŠKOVÁ, Jana
The aim of this thesis is detailed description of solved reclamation in the selected location Cep II after gravel extraction. The part of thesis solves property settlements on the parcels concerned. The literary review outlines generally issue of mining and its impact on the landscape and ways of deal with these negative impacts. Besides the classical methods of reclamation (agricultural, forestry and hydrological reclamation) is described a method of using spontaneous restoration. There is also particularised the possibility of incorporating suitably reclaimed parcels into territorial system of ecological stability in terms of land adjustment.
Vegetation succession on abandoned limestone quarries of Czech Karst
BARTOŠOVÁ, Alena
Vegetation sampling was carried out to determine changes on the limestone quarries after 30 years. These semi-permanent plots are located in the Czech Karst Protected Landscape Area in the Czech Republic.
Reclamation of land affected by mining and possible integration into project of comprehensive land arrangement
MATOUŠKOVÁ, Jana
This thesis deals with issue of landscape restoration of derelict area after extraction of minerals, especially how methods of extraction affect reclamation, individual methods of reclamations, reclamation specification after gravel extraction and integration possibility of reclaimed areas to territorial systems of ecological stability through land arrangements. There is also mentioned alternative reclamation, which is nowadays often mentioned by conservationists namely ecological restoration by spontanous (or managed) succession or by management interventions. Thesis also contains description of sandpit Horusice and evaluation of reclamation which there were performed.
Prediction of vegetation succession in a sand-pit: A basis for restoration.
ZEMANOVÁ, Věra
Supporting spontaneous successional processes represents a progressive approach to restoration of sites disturbed by mining activities in various European countries. The ecological restoration led to a higher landscape mosaic compared with traditional reclamation methods. The minimum intervention strategy is especially effective in the case of favourable site conditions, and if the site is surrounded by (semi-)natural vegetation. Diverse vegetation is able to establish in a reasonable time of approximately 25 years. Therefore, the spontaneous succession should be considered as a regular rehabilitation method in a post-mining landscape and incorporated into practical restoration projects.
