Sonata for clarinet and piano by Viktor Kalabis
Černohouzová, Jana ; HLAVÁČ, Jiří (advisor) ; MAREŠ, Vlastimil (referee)
My thesis "Sonata for clarinet and piano by Viktor Kalabis" is focused on one of concertantes pieces for clarinet and piano by Viktor Kalabis . The first part of the thesis deals with the life experience of the composer; the second part comprises an attempt to reflect the interpreter's perspective and expound interpretation issues. The author's experience with performing the sonata is described. The most difficult sections are explained and interpretation and practice options offered. The author's recording (2014 - J. Černohouzová, D. Wiesner) is compared with two other recordings (1970 - J. Štengl, Z. Zichová, 2013 - J.Hlaváč, I. Kahánek). The approaches of the interpreters and their performance style is analysed. The composer-interpreter relationship is discussed.
Chromaticism of brass musical instruments in the first half of the 19th century, instruments fitted with a key mechanism.
Rouček, Jaroslav ; REJLEK, Vladimír (advisor) ; HAVLÍK, Jaromír (referee)
In my thesis I have tried to describe the brass instrument chromaticism process by means of covering the corpus by hand and especially by applying a key mechanism. I have dealt with the first sources, discoveries and experiments which preceded the spread of keyed brass instruments. I worked closely with the personages Anton Weidinger and J. L. Kunerth, who were considered as first inventors of the keyed trumpet. I have formulated a hypothesis concerning the identification of lost compositions for the keyed trumpet by J. N. Hummel, including the reconstruction and a practical example of the Quartet in E Major. I have discussed methodologies of playing the keyed trumpet and collected responses from the contemporary press concerning the use of the keyed trumpet in concert life in this period. I have created lists of detailed information on the traditional keyed trumpets and their literature.
Main Czech Pieces for Woodwind Quintet
Javůrek, Jiří ; HLAVÁČ, Jiří (advisor) ; MAREŠ, Vlastimil (referee)
The aim of this work is to serve a complex view of the woodwind quintet repertoire and it deals with the principal works for woodwind quintet of the Czech composers. Woodwind quintet is a stable name for following group of the five wood instruments ? flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and French horn. The repertoire is nowadays growing up because of the growing popularity of this group but this work covers only with Antonín Rejcha?s, Bohuslav Foerster?s, Leoš Janáček?s, Pavel Haas?s, Václav Trojan?s and Iša Krejčí?s works and it puts stress on the formal and harmonic analysis. In all pieces of work of the mended composers are insignificant elements of the Czech folklore which, thanks to Czech woodwind repertoire, is spread all over the world.
