Activation Activities in Nursing Homes

The Bachelor thesis is focused on the theme Activization activities in senior houses and deals with providing activization activities in the Senior House U lesíka Znojmo. The key objective of the Bachelor thesis was to research providing of activization: the form and type of activization activities, the process of activization activities, tools, the education of activization workers, the benefits of activization and SWOT analyse of activization activities) in the senior house. Partial objective was to research activities of a social worker in the context of providing activization activities. The Bachelor thesis is divided into two parts. It consists of a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part contains information on activization activities, a senior house and ageing. The practical part was written on the base of the main research question: How are the activization activities provided in the senior house?; and partial research questions. The practical part was processed by a qualitative research and by a specific questioning method. The used technique of a semi-structured interview was done by three social workers, four activization workers and five users of the senior house. Results of the research show that social workers are satisfied with the course of activation activities in Nursing Home. Activation workers are not satisfied some of the questioned persons are satisfied with the activization activities and some of them has comments to the actual providing of activization activities. Unsatisfied are activation workers and users with premises and aids used in activation activities. Suggestions for better providing of activization activities are included in the resume of the Bachelor thesis. The Bachelor thesis will be used as a feedback for the Centre of Social Services Znojmo - The Senior House, where the research was made with the written consent of its director. The research results will be used to improve providing of activization activities in mentioned facility.
Activating programs as a way for spiritual development for erderly in a retirement home

The thesis deals with saturation of spiritual needs of elderly in residential houses through the perspective of activationists. In the preliminary part are treated questions about ageing, adaptation to ageing, human needs and spiritual needs at first. After that is discussed the activity in elderly, not only in relation with the adaptation to ageing but also as a place of activation. At the last part of this chapter it´s question of residential houses and activationists. In the practical part there is an analysis and evaluation of approaches to the saturation of spiritual needs in activating programs of chosen activationists. The selection of responders represents different characteristics of residential houses in the Pilsen region. The different approaches to spiritual needs in the activating programmes are induced by the personal knowledge, experience and abilities of activationists.
Seniors and active aging in the seniors'house in Ostrava

Demographic aging of population brings a number of needs, demands and changes in many areas of social life. In this case, Czech Republic has accepted several documents which also contain National Programme of Preparation for Aging for 2003 - 2007, and then for 2008 - 2012. This document regards to the concept of active aging and old age, which was accepted by the World Health Organization in the 90's, defined as a process of health quality development, seniors' social participation and the entire rising of a quality of life in an old age. The activity becomes desirable and proper way of the seniors' life. The diploma project is focused on the seniors' activities, specifically on the offer of activation activities and their usage in Ostrava seniors' house. The theoretical part is pursued on the definition of aging and old age, physical, mental and social changes and the science disciplines, which are focused on those. Besides, it deals with social services, closer with the seniors' houses, activity and activation in the houses and about the concept of active aging, National Programme of Preparation for Aging and European Year of Active Aging. The concept of sense activation and the changes in the care of a patient with a dementia disease.

Dementia is becoming one of the most common disease in an old age. It is a set of symptoms which is created on the basis of the chronic or progressive brain disease. The most common cause of dementia is the Alzheimer´s disease. Currently there is no cure for dementia but it is possible to slow down the progress and make that the life of a patient better. The sensory activation is a concept which serves to seniors and mainly to people with dementia disease. Among people with this disease, the sensory stimulation is used mainly for strengthening and the usage of existing competencies. It´s main objective is to keep or refresh a patient´s own social and substantive competencies. It is important to use this method and provide a patient with dementia with honourable, active and meaningful old age. The bachelor thesis is divided into two parts, a theoretical and an empirical one. The theoretical part contains information dealing with the problem of dementia. There we will learn what the dementia is, what is the cause of it, how the dementia is diagnosed and what the communication with people suffering with dementia should be like. Then the theoretical part contains information about the concept of the sensory activation. We will learn what is the goal of it, we will find some information about the tools used for the sensory activation, it´s planning and the subsequent realization. There is a chapter called "a human biography" which is very important for the method of sensory activation. In the next part there are described some other models of caretaking, for example the model of professor Erwin Bohm and the model of Validation by Naomi Feil.
THE IMPORTANCE OF ACTIVITIES FOR SENIORS IN SENIORS' HOMES

Bachelor thesis entitled THE IMPORTANCE OF ACTIVITIES FOR SENIORS IN SENIORS' HOMES maps implemented activities for seniors in selected homes for seniors . Furthermore,it verifies whether these activities are offered also to immobile seniors. It focuses on the professional competence of staff involved in the management of monitored activities as well. Based on studies of available resources and practical experience of social workers, two hypotheses were set : H1: I think that addressed seniors' homes offer activation activities within the services provided to its mobile and immobile users H2: I assume that these activation activities are implemented by staff with appropriate skills (obtained from previous education or specialized training). This thesis also introduces changes accompanying the period of senium. It provides an outline of the changes in seniors' homes before 1989 and thereafter. The forms of possible older persons activation and their focus on content are shown , too. Research conducted on the basis of a questionnaire survey among workers involved in the activation of older people reflects on the experience of four homes of seniors in South and West Bohemia. The questionnaire contains a total twenty-two items. The obtained results allow the comparison of the seniors´ activities implemented in terms of mapped workplaces, whether in terms of their scope, focus or staffing in terms of professional competence of the personnel.
