Factors of instability of local assembly in Czechia

Bachelor thesis deals with conditions influencing stability of local assembly in Czechia in 2014-2018. In this research dissolution of an assembly and following election announcement is considered as an expression of instability. The thesis follows two main goals. First is to find regularities in terms of area, size and demographic. Second is to find actual reasons of local assembly dissolutions. Analytical section aims to characterize municipalities in which extraordinary elections took place in 2014-2018. Regularities relating to the type of countryside, share of non-believers and natives were defined based on sectional quantitative analyses. The second goal was achieved by searching through news in local internet journals. Main reasons of local assembly dissolution were defined based on the found reports. Predominantly the reasons were personal disagreements, low interest in candidacy and disputes about the direction the municipality is heading. Clusters of municipalities where local assembly dissolution occurred and areas of highest occurrence of local assembly instability were also defined. Preparedness of the selected area to participate in implementation of the tasks of civil protection during the release of hazardous chemicals.

This diploma thesis and its research deals with the preparedness of the population, pedagogues and representatives of municipal council, to participate in tasks of population protection during the leak of dangerous chemical substances. The work develops research from my Bachelor thesis from 2017, where was my task to verify preparedness of the integrated rescue system to deal with the leak of dangerous chemical substances. The aim of this diploma thesis was to find out, if is the selected area able to adequately respond to hazards arising from the leak of hazardous chemical substances. In order to assess preparedness, slightly different questionnaires were used, those questionnaires were answered by the residents of České Budějovice, teachers working at secondary schools in České Budějovice and representatives of the city and representatives of the South Bohemian Region. The results of the questionnaire survey are presented using descriptive statistics, interesting results are shown using graphs. A high degree of unpreparedness of respondents was found. According to the results of the questionnaire survey, some respondents may also behave dangerously in the events of leakage of hazardous chemicals. The contribution of this work should be increasing and improving awareness in this area. To this purpose, was created an information leaflet containing lot of important information, which was distributed to the population. The benefit which this work has already brought, is to alert representatives from city and region councils, as well as teaching staff, to improve their knowledge of hazardous substances. According to the feedback of several representatives, analyzes focusing the transport of dangerous substances can be expected in the near future. This work can be used as well as a source of information and can be used to compare it with other researches.

Coalitions of Independent Candidates in Elections to City Councils in the Czech Republic

The bachelor thesis Coalitions of Independent Candidates in Elections to City Councils in the Czech Republic deals with terms of candidacy Coalitions of Independent Candidates in elections to city councils in Czech cities and municipalities. First of all, the bachelor thesis compares conditions for candidacy of independent candidates in the Czech Republic and neighboring countries. The analysis is focused on comparison of the presence of Coalitions of Independent Candidates in Czech cities of different size. The focus is mainly on local elections 2014. Successful Coalitions of Independent Candidates has been described in details. The aim is to refer to disadvantages suffered by Coalitions of Independent Candidates in larger cities. The disadvantage is, that Coalitions of Independent Candidates have to produce petition with 7 % signatures of voters from the city, where they want to candidate. Despite this disadvantage is majority of Czech councilors elected from the Coalitions of Independent Candidates.
Municipal self-government in the Czech Republic (illustrated on the example of Kralupy nad Vltavou City)

The main goal of this thesis named Municipal self-government in the Czech Republic (illustrated on the example of Kralupy nad Vltavou City) is to process and summarize the framework of municipal function in both theoretical and practical way. Also, it is shown how to use the knowledge for didactic purposes. Therefore the thesis is divided into the theoretical, practical and didactic part. The theory answers the questions such as What is self-government? By whom is it executed and where? How is it controlled? The practical part continuously uses collected information and shows how each of self-government aspects works in concrete example of Kralupy nad Vltavou City. The third part is focused on how to apply this issue in teacher training.

V roce 2016 proběhly již 5. volby do zastupitelstev krajů. Vzniklou časovou řadu volebních výsledků lze hodnotit z různých pohledů. Několik z nich předkládá tato publikace, vytvořená na základě spolupráce mezi Českým statistickým úřadem, Krajskou správou v Pardubicích a Katedrou geografie Univerzity Palackého v Olomouci. Statistici, kteří zajišťují zpracování výsledků voleb, dodali pro publikaci zejména datové podklady, geografové připravili mapové podklady a velkou část komentářů.

The Development of Local Government in the Municipality of Klatovy

This thesis is entitled The development of local government in the municipality of Klatovy. The main aim of this work is to analyse municipal policies and political mechanisms in local self-government within the election period since 2014 to 2018, and to identify unique aspects of self-government particular to this locality. This project has been divided into two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part outlines basic concepts relating to municipality, local self-government members, municipal election processes, formation of coalitions, and civil and political participation. The practical part is focused on the town of Klatovy: socioeconomic indicators, summary of election results since 1994, characteristics of local municipal policy during the election period since 2014 to 2018, self-government members and relationships between them, and their co-operation in the running of the municipality. This work also focuses on current problems in local municipal policy and possibly solutions.
Political Aspects of Local Government –The Case Study of Municipalities of Klatovy District

This presented work is focused on political aspects of local government. In the first, theoretical part, are explained the basic concepts and issues related to local politics and voting behavior is being described. The practical part characterizes Klatovy county, analyzes the election results from 1990 to 2014 and the influences on voter turnout in the villages in Klatovy county. The results are compared with S. Balik´s study Districts in the north. In the final part is evaluated the aplicability of the study on the chosen Klatovy county.
The Status and Role of the Mayor in the Context of Local Government

Thesis deals with a local government in the Czech Republic, particulary with normative duties of the mayors and knowledge of the performance of their duties. Theoretical chapter of the thesis defines mainly normative area of the performance and municipality mayors function in the Czech Republic. Practical part of the thesis concentrates on assessement of mayors (from selected villages) awareness of their duties and awareness of real options they have to gain the information for the performance of their job. Key data are obtained through the semistructured interview with the mayors of selected villages.Thesis came to result, that the mayors gain the information about their duties during their active work. Thesis also valorized the possibilities of education.
