Regional Committee of The Communist Party of Czechoslovakia in Brno under the leadership of Otto Šling
Lehnert, Jiří ; Houda, Přemysl (advisor) ; Wohlmuth, Petr (referee)
This thesis deals with the regional functioning of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia at the regional level in the first years after the end of the Second World War, specifically the Regional Committee of the Communist Party in Brno, which at that time was headed by the regional secretary Otto Šling. He was arrested in October 1950 as an enemy of the party and the state. He then became the key figure in the political process with Rudolf Slánský, the Communist Party's general secretary. Otto Šling was a former interbrigadist in the civil war in Spain in the period from 1936 to 1939. During the Second World War, this communist politician of Jewish descent participated in the Czechoslovak anti-nazi resistance movement in the Great Britain. These facts certainly contributed to his arrest in 1950 and his later condemnation and execution in 1952. Otto Šling was one of the first senior officials of the Communist Party to be a target of the policy of seeking "class enemies" in the Communist movement in Czechoslovakia. The inhuman brutal investigation of his person led to the prosecution of the second man in the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia, Rudolf Slánský. However, this work is primarily focused on Šling's activities in the Brno branch of the Communist Party between 1945 and 1950 in connection with his...

Součková, Karolína ; Charvát, Jan (advisor) ; Hájek, Lukáš (referee)
The thesis deals with the election campaign in the elections to the National Assembly, namely the campaign of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia. In this example, we can clearly see how strongly campaign can impress and what influence the voter's final decision has. After the World War II, the position of the Communist Party was determined by its attitude towards the Munich events in 1938 and its activities during the Second World War - the Communist Party was undeniably a significant part of the Czechoslovak resistance and by the post- war political system. Compared to the other parties allowed after the Second World War, it had the potential to become the main political force in the country. It was through this effective propaganda that it could use this position and lead the party to victory in the elections in 1946. The art of promoting communist ideology as an ideal choice for most Czechoslovak citizens is a key reason for the success of this party. The elections in 1946 were the first after World War II, and therefore a key to the country's further direction. The Communists were well aware of this importance, and it was reflected in their thorough preparation. The other parties were also aware of this importace of these elections, but their campaign was weak compared to the CPC. The CPC...

The diploma thesis entitled The Atheization Policy of the Czechoslovak Republic from the End of 1940s to the Mid-1950s Illustrated on the Example of the Historical Regional Media introduces to the reader how Marxist-Leninist ideologies approached the topic of atheism and the process of atheization, and how they presented this worldview to the popular masses. The reader will also learn about the region of Teschen Silesia (where the research is based), its media and the media system established in Czechoslovakia at the time under discussion. The work also reflects on the post-war rise of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia and its coup in 1948. The practical part of the thesis then reflects how the editors of the selected media (the widely available regional daily Nová svoboda, the newspaper of the Polish minority Głos Ludu and the company magazine Třinecký hutník) published topics that were supposed to lead their readers to secularization from 1948 to 1952. As time went on, however, even these contributions dwindled. Judicial monster trials of inconvenient clerics were also...
