Children´s drowning from the perspective of pre-hospital emergency care
SEDLÁČEK, David
Drowning, especially in children, is a relatively frequent cause of death. Statistics speak clearly. Children´s drowning is the second most frequent cause of death of children in industrialized countries. Good knowledge of the issue of drowning in children, therefore, seems to be the best way how to at least partially minimize the unfavorable statistics. But it is necessary to be aware of the child drowning specificity due to the child age. And the nursing care specifics are the subject of the thesis. The main objective was to survey the knowledge of prevention and first aid for children in the context or drowning and near-drowning on the part of adult and child public and also in the Emergency Medical Rescue Service workers. The quantitative research method through anonymous questionnaires was chosen. The research sample representing the general public was composed of staff members and pupils and students of several primary and secondary schools in České Budějovice. The research was conducted with the Emergency Medical Rescue Service workers in the regional centers of the Emergency Medical Rescue Service of the South Bohemia region. The questionnaire addressed to the general public contained a set of 25 questions, the questionnaire for the Emergency Medical Rescue Service workers comprised a set of 20 questions. The research has confirmed that the general public knows the first aid basics, but does not have enough knowledge about prevention and first aid for child drowning and near-drowning. The outcomes have mainly proved unfamiliarity with principles of resuscitation for children. The research has also shown that in children in general the knowledge of prevention and first-aid provision for near-drowning or drowning only minimally depends on their age. According to the research results the Emergency Medical Rescue Service workers have adequate knowledge about prevention and first aid for drowning or near-drowning children. The obtained results suggest the need to increase training and education in issues relating to the near-drowning of children in the general public of all ages. In a limited range it would be useful to organize training on issues related to pre-hospital emergency care also for the Emergency Medical Rescue Service workers. The need of the knowledge of prevention and first aid for drowning or near-drowning is confirmed by the fact that even among the public, with which the research was conducted, several persons who had already met this problem were found.

The issue of the behaviour of children and youth is crucial both in the current society and in all societies of future generations. The objective of this baccalaureate work is to map leisure-time activities of children and youth, their values and attitudes which are affected by living in modern, economically developed society as well as to make the general public, and parents in particular, to consider the options of changing the current situation. The information my baccalaureate work is based upon have been acquired in the way secondary data analysis. In the practical section of my baccalaureate work the quantitative research, the interview method as well as the questionnaire technique have been applied. The questionnaire consisted of 34 questions and was distributed among a sample of children and youth aged from 13 to 19 years coming from the region of České Budějovice, Czech Republic. The questionnaire research was carried out in the period January 15th - March 15th 2010. The Hypothesis H1 {--} ``Children and youth spend more than half of their leisure time in a non-effective way{\crq}q has been confirmed, Hypothesis H2 {--} ``More than half of teenagers do not wish to spend their leisure time together with their parents{\crq}q has been refused. The research results have shown that more than three quarters of respondents prefer to spend their leisure time together with their parents and they would do so on their own will. Thus, it comes as a surprise that, nevertheless, 42 percent of respondents spend a maximum of two hours with their parents over the weekends, or only the dinner-time. The most frequent activity shared by teenagers and parents are suppers, the second most frequent activity is watching TV, videos and DVD. The least frequent shared activity is sports and cultural events. I am convinced that the lifestyle of children and youth, and thus the lifestyle of future generations, has to get a new positive direction.

Movement activities of school age kids, rating of hygiene of physical education on elementary schools
NOVOTNÁ, Jitka
In my Bachelor´s thesis I have investigated the locomotive activity in school children (ages 6-14) and I was trying to assess the hygiene of physical education in primary schools. I also evaluated the placing of PE-lessons within school schedules. I studied whether these children, who do a lot of sports, have a lower BMI, than children who spend their free-time passively. I also looked closer into the PE-lessons at primary schools and tried to assess if these children are subjected predominately to a static or dynamic load, and how much time is used for exercising. I carried out my academic research in České Budějovice, Český Krumlov and in Frymburk. In the theoretical part of the thesi,s I have examined the locomotive activity, children being overweight, illnesses and other related problems. I have described the history of scholastic physical education, dealt with the correct placement of physical education within school schedules and described how a correct PE-lesson should be conducted at school. Finally, I have described the hygienic demands upon school gymnasiums. For the first part of my research, I have used questionnaires that were distributed and filled out by primary school children. In the second part, entitled the Assessment of the Static and Dynamic Load in PE-Lessons, I have watched and assessed pupils in class. At the same time, I have also evaluated the placement of these lessons within school schedules. The results obtained from this research were compiled by using MS Excel. All three hypotheses were verified. Physical education lessons are, for the most par,t placed incorrectly within the school schedules. Those children, who exercise regularly, have lower BMI than those children who do not. Within the PE-lessons, the static load predominates over dynamic load.
