Accomplishments of our cross-country skiing at the olympic games
Kubátová, Monika ; Kašpar, Ladislav (advisor) ; Přibyl, Ivan (referee)
Title: Accomplishments of our cross-country skiing at the Winter Olympic Games Abstract: This thesis is focus on history of Czech and Czechoslovak cross-counrty skiing at the Winter Olympic Games from the first competition at WOG Chamonix 1924 to Vancouver 2010. Using the direct method and the method of content analysis it documents and summarizes the accomplishments of our cross-country representatives. It finds out that representatives of such a small country reached splendid results. But the available literature doesn't mention them as far as they didn't win a medal. Very interesting is the comparison between two skiing generations using the interview with their representatives Kveta Jeriova and Katerina Neumannova. The resulting comparison between their answers reaches a conclusion: the first of them had much harder conditions and worse facilities. In spite of this fact, she proved to be successful but her career was shorter and the number of medals smaller. Keywords: Winter olympic games, history, cross-country skiing, accomplishment

Nutritional strategy for long-distance cross-country skiers
Opočenská, Tereza ; Česák, Petr (advisor) ; Šimková, Michaela (referee)
Title: Nutritional strategy for long-distance cross-country skiers Objectives: The aim of the bachelor thesis is to answer as the clearest as possible the following research questions: 1. How appropriate diet affects the internal environment of the body long-distance cross-country skiers? 2. What composition of the diet and supplements is most suitable for long-distance cross-country skiers? 3. When to start eating regime that will help competitors prepare the body for the completion of remote cross-country skiing? Methods: We used the research of czech and foreign literature. We searched the scientific studies related to our theme through the service Google Scholar. We also drew from licensed Internet databases (PubMed, SPORTDiscus, Scopus, ProQuest, OvidSP, JSTOR). Results: We found that long-distance cross-country skiers should follow the macronutrients and micronutrients content in connection with food intake. The ratios of nutrients taken depends on whether it is a period before the race, during the race or after its completion. However, a key role in all three phases perform carbohydrates. Optimal nutrition strategy should start no later than 1-3 days before the race. Keywords: sport, exercise, cross-country skiing, nutrition, food supplements, endurance, performance

Title: Verification of the effects of hyperoxia on the result in a test simulating performance in a team sprint on SkiErg skiing simulator. Objectives: The work aims to verify the effect of hyperoxia on the result in a test simulating performance in a team sprint on SkiErg skiing simulator. Methods: This is a qualitative research conducted by comparing hart rate, power in watts and lactate in ten probands. Values measured after inhalation of concentrated oxygen and placebo were compared. Results: There was no positive effect from meansurements of the heart rate, power in watts and lactate after concentration of inhaled oxygen and placebo on the SkiErg simulator. We concluded that the effect of inhalated concentrated oxygen Was in our test statistically insignificant. Keywords: Cross-country skiing, strengh, hyperoxia, heart rate, lactate

Novák, Karel ; Šteffl, Michal (advisor) ; Jindra, Matouš (referee)
Title: Diagnosing of muscular imbalances in cross-country skiers using tensiomyography Objectives: Objective of the thesis was to define hypothesis about impact of cross-country skiing on musculoskeletal system, most importantly the origin of muscular unbalance, on cross-country skiers using tensiomyograph TMG 100 and bioimpedance InBody 720. Methods: This bachelor's thesis was conducted as qualitative research. It consists of six case studies. We examined the presence of muscular imbalance of back muscles in cross country skiers. Tensiomyograph TMG 100 and bioimpendace InBody 720 were used during this examination. Results: Based on results from examination of six respondents we found out, that there could be muscular unbalance from the standpoint of lateral symmetry, mostly in m. erector spinae. Conclusion: Based on six case studies, were formulated two hypothesis that take in account possible muscular unbalance of m. erector spinae and m. trapezius inferior that could be formed by specific usage by cross-country skiers.
