Ultrathin sectioning of polymeric materials for low-voltage transmission electron microscopy
Lednický, František ; Hromádková, Jiřina ; Pientka, Zbyněk
Processes taking place during ultrathin sectioning were monitored using a polymeric materials with hard matrix and soft particles (HIPS). A surface relief was observed both on cut surfaces and in ultrathin sections. The relief in ultrathin sections is interpreted as one of the reasons for the image contrast observed in low-voltage transmission electron microscopy.
Electrochemical Applications of SPM
Janda, Pavel
The electrochemical scanning probe microscopy (EC SPM) operates in liguids represented by solutions of electrolytes. This technique requires specific instrumentation and approach different from ex situ SPM or UHV tunneling. Some aspects of in-situ application including both atomic force microscopy and tunneling in liquids are discussed.
Ultrastructure of spirochetes isolated from culicine mosquitoes
Sanogo, Yibayiri Osée ; Reipert, S. ; Halouzka, Jiří ; Hubálek, Zdeněk ; Němec, M.
We report the morphological studies of six spirochetal strains. In transmission electron microscopy (thin sections and negative staining), with both blunt and tapered ends, a three-layered outer membrane and variable number of endoflagella.
