Influence of bimaterial interface on fatigue crack closure
Náhlík, Luboš
The article deals with the behaviour of a fatigue crack propagating across a bi-material interface. A stability criterion for the crack touching the bi-material interface, taking into account the residual stresses closing the crack faces is formulated. The linear elastic fracture mechanics is assumed to apply and the finite element method is used in the calculations. The criterion proposed is applied to determine the fatigue threshold stress for crack propagation across the interface. It is shown that the threshold values for crack propagation are influenced by the residual stresses closing the crack and by the specific combination of the elastic constants of the materials used. Two different geometries and two different loading ratios are considered. It is shown that the threshold values for crack propagation are influenced by the residual stresses closing the crack and by the specific combination of the elastic constants of the materials used.
A new way of estimation of fatigue life under random stress
Balda, Miroslav
The contribution deals with a new way of evaluating fatigue lives of parts exposed to a combined random loading. It unifies results of fatigue tests gained by uniaxial, multiaxial, harmonic and random loading into a single form in non=dimensional parameters.
Distributed Computation in Rotor Dynamics Supported by Fluid Film Bearings
Musil, Tomáš
Using distributed computing the equilibrium position and the response of the rotor on excitation of rotating parts have been evaluated. The rotor was supported by fluid film bearings of finite length. All calculations were performed on a parallel computer with distributed memory and with eight processors.
Numerical Computation of a Response of the Rotor System RK 4 (Rotor Kit 4) with the Shaft Failured by Crack Excited by Centrifugal Force
Ferfecki, Petr ; Ondrouch, Jan
A fatigue crack in rotor systems may cause large damage to the system if undetected and the economic loss is tremendous. The computational procedures for investigation of lateral vibration of a rotor system with a shaft containing open crack are developed. The response of rotor system is computed from equations of motion by means of Newmark method, trigonometric collocation method and stability of lateral vibration was investigated by means of Floquet theory.
