Historic materials – challenges and inspirations
Drdácký, Miloš ; Slížková, Zuzana
The paper presents selected examples of historic building materials analyses and at the same time the utilisation of results for the innovation in the field of material engineering. Particularly there are presented analyses of traces of historic surface paints on timber, investigations of historic lime mortars modified with burned clay and a study of present-day lime mortar with addition of metakaolin designed as repair mortar for renovation and replacement the historic mortar.
Influence of random material heterogeneity on longitudinal harmonic wave propagation
Náprstek, Jiří
The paper deals with mathematical modelling and properties of linear longitudinal wave propagating in one dimensional body with random imperfections in material density and Young modulus.
Český příspěvek k řešení mezních stavů tenkostěnných konstrukčních systémů
Škaloud, Miroslav ; Zörnerová, Marie
Thin-walled construction as a powerful way to saving steel and the stability limitations involved are discussed. It is shown that this promising trend can be materialised just thanks to the beneficial effect of so-called post-buckled behaviour. As a great part of steel structures are subjected to repeated loading (bridges, crane-supporting girders and the like) it is demonstrated by the results of numerous experiments how the post-buckled reserve of strength is affected by the cumulative damage process generated by the many times repeated character of the loading.
