Ecological trends in xylem production of woody plants
Tichý, Jan ; Treml, Václav (advisor) ; Schnablová, Renata (referee)
Xylogenesis (wood formation) is one of the most important biological processes on Earth. Woody plants store atmospheric carbon during this process and are thus an essential player in the carbon cycle, and therefore in the interactions of the biosphere and the Earth's climate system. The course of xylogenesis is affected by many factors, the main factors include photoperiod, temperature and water availability. The significance and impact of individual factors on xylogenesis changes with time and place on Earth. The cambium, which by its division forms wood, enters the dormant and active phase during the year. As part of the changes in the activity of the cambium, rings are formed from which it is possible to read the conditions in which the tree was located during the formation of the given tree ring. This characteristic feature of wood is the subject of many studies and can be used to investigate the effects of climate change on xylogenesis.

This bachelor thesis focuses on an analysis of urban amenities in inner courtyards of housing estates with a special focus on playgrounds. It includes a description of the history of housing estates in Bratislava and especially the Trávniky estate, which was further analysed. This estate is analysed from both a general perspective and urban composition. The theoretical part discusses the area of public amenities in general. The practical part includes a comprehensive analysis of selected courtyards with a focus on playgrounds and their user experience, amenities and security. Collected data were analysed and a simplified SWOT analysis created. For the most pressing issues, changes and possible improvements were proposed.
Analysis and theory of public space.
Beránková, Vendula ; Tichý, Jan (referee) ; Májek, Jan (advisor)
The first part of the bachelor's thesis inspects the general theory and division of public spaces, it defines public spaces according to the valid Czech legislation. Furthermore, it contains a questionnaire concerning the square and public spaces from the public's point of view. The second part compares four public spaces in the town of Humpolec, which are called squares. These include: Horní, Dolní, Havlíčkovo and Tyršovo náměstí. The squares are examined mainly on the basis of a local survey and the questionnaire, which was created for the town’s residents. Based on the acquired knowledge, each square was evaluated to define its strengths and weaknesses. The work is concluded with an overall evaluation.
Zoos within the structure and functioning of European cities
Mati, David ; Tichý, Jan (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor)
The main topic of this bachelor thesis is a comparison of a Brno city and a Zoo Brno, as representatives of European cities and zoos, regarding their structure, functioning, operation, their mutual influence and cooperation. The thesis deals with certain features that occur in urban and zoo structures and with the demonstration of individual analyses. These include, for example, analyses of planning development documentation, transport infrastructure, management and financing methods, engineering networks, or public space amenities. Evaluation of these analyses will reveal whether zoos and cities have the same, similar or completely different structure. The introductory part of the thesis deals with the origin of zoos, their development, common factors, contexts, and their influence on the structure of many European cities.
The Morava River and its influence on the development of the town of Uherské Hradiště
Hlaváčková, Kateřina ; Tichý, Jan (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis maps the development of the Morava river and the origin and development of the town of Uherské Hradiště. It also deals with the regulation of the river and the development of parts of the city that arose after the regulation. There are also described floods on the Morava river and Olšava and then also the flood of 1997, which hit Uherské Hradiště. Related to this is the subsequent description of flood control measures. The last chapter suggests how the river can be connected with the city today.
Multi-body system of structures with electro-mechanical resonators
Tichý, Jiří ; Lošák, Petr (referee) ; Hadaš, Zdeněk (advisor)
This thesis is dealing with creation of computation model of energy harvestors. Harvestors based on translational motion and planar motion were modeled. These models were created in MSC Adams. Proposed harvestors are tranforming mechanical vibrations into electrical energy by electromagnetical induction. To achieve better electrical output, harvestors were tuned to natural frequency suitable for chosen aplication. First proposed harvestor is meant for railway track. For validation of its usability in intended application, model of railway track section is also proposed. Force generated by passing train is used for excitation of the track model. Second harvestor is nonlinear electromechanical oscilator proposed for use on unanchored sea buoy (drifter). After retuning previously proposed concept of energy harvestor to natural frequency 1.6 Hz, computation model for simulation purposes was created. After the simulation of sinusoidal excitation, the excitation based on real sea data was simulated. When excited by regular sea, the peak electric power 9 W was achieved. When excited by irregular sea the peak electrical power of the generator was 7.5 mW.
Qualitative properties of solutions to equations of fluid mechanics
Tichý, Jakub
Qualitative properties of solutions to equations of fluid mechanics Mgr. Jakub Tichý Supervisor: doc. Mgr. Petr Kaplický, Ph.D. Department: Department of Mathematical Analysis Abstract This thesis is devoted to the boundary regularity of weak solutions to the system of nonlinear partial differential equations describing incompressible flows of a certain class of generalized Newtonian fluids in bounded domains. Equations of motion and continuity equation are complemented with perfect slip boundary conditions. For stationary generalized Stokes system in Rn with growth condi- tion described by N-function Φ the existence of the second derivatives of velocity and their regularity up to the boundary are shown. For the same system of equa- tions integrability of velocity gradients is proven. Lq estimates are obtained also for classical evolutionary Stokes system via interpolation-extrapolation scales. Hölder continuity of velocity gradients and pressure is shown for evolutionary generalized Navier-Stokes equations in R2 . Keywords Generalized Stokes and Navier - Stokes equations, incompressible fluids, perfect slip boundary conditions, regularity up to the boundary
Comprehensive urban analysis of selected public space with a focus on workout courses
Dlabajová, Eva ; Tichý, Jan (referee) ; Májek, Jan (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the problematics of a high – quality public sport space. The first part deals in general with public sport areals. It defines it according to the valid legislation, distinguishes the types and determines the demands of the user and the main criteria for high- quality public sport space. This theoretical part is combined with a survey. The second part is focused on assessment of the Brownfield place sport area Ponava in Brno based in particular on a survey based on a local investigation. Based on the gained knowledge and the evaluation of the solved area, mainly defining of the strenghts and weaknesses, is developed a suggestion for improvement and the satisfaction of the respondents.
Politická nestabilita a přímé zahraniční investice v Bulharsku, Chorvatsku a Rumunsku
Tichý, Josef
Tichý, J. The Political instability and the foreign direct investments in Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania. Bachelor thesis. Brno: Mendel University, 2018 The bachelor thesis examines the influence of the political instability on foreign direct investments (FDI) in Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania as the newest members of the European Union. This thesis contains the description of political situation in these countries and the comparison with the evolution of FDI. The main focus is on parliamentary elections and changes in government coalitions. In the regression analysis there are used dummy variables to decide whether there is an influence of government instability on FDI. Violent forms of political instability are represented by State fragility index and Political stability and absence of violence/terrorism, which is one of the World Governance Indicators.
