Radon-in-waters measurement methods

Higher concentrations of radon are probably harmful to our health, on the other side its lower concentrations have terapeutical effect, which is used in a spa. Its characteristical properties are suitable for mineralogical research, hydrological and environmental studies and for an earthquake and vulcanic prognosis. In this work, there are explained methods of ray measuring, scintilation detektor and ionization chamber and there are compared devices like radon-in-air monitor, device with a hydrphobical membrane and device with a method using olive-oil. dtto cz.

Dlouhodobé skladování sadebního materiálu buku lesního (Fagus sylvatica L.)

This bachelor thesis aims to determine suitable conditions for long-term storage of European beech planting stock in freezing conditions. In this thesis, we used a method of storing in freezing boxes with temperatures set at -3 °C, -6 °C and -8 °C. The main objectives of the thesis were to determine the temperature limit for the plants survival, the length of storage and acclimatization of the plants before planting, the effects of the fungicide application and the insulating properties of cardboard boxes and polyethylene bags. Two evaluations were performed in which we evaluated morphological parameters, plant vitality and plant loss. Our results suggest the temperature -3 °C as optimal for long-term storage in freezing boxes. The plant survival limit was set at -6 °C. No significant differences were observed between the types of packaging and the application of the fungicide for long-term storage in freezer boxes was not found to be necessary. For suitable acclimatization, we recommend more than 4 days. The total period for storage can reach over 4 months.

Springs of the radioactive medicinal water in the Lázně Libverda - Świeradów-Zdrój area

The main radionuclide causing high water radiation is 222 Rn with half-life 3.82 days. Concentrations of radon in radioactive mineral water in the Krkonoše-Jizera Crystalline Complex are very high and do not correspond with the concentration of uranium in the source rocks. These springs probably well up near the uranium mineralisation. Search for radioactive mineral water started in 2005 in Orlice- Sněžník Dome built by orthogneisses, which was the first promising area for such research. The research continued to the areas of Jánské Lázně and Horní Malá Úpa built by the Krkonoše orthogneisses in the next few years. In the last two years research was conducted in Lázně Libverda. Until then there were only a few known springs with radioactive mineral water. Lázně Libverda-Świeradów-Zdrój area is located in the Krkonoše-Jizera Crystalline Complex built by Cambrian/Ordovician orthogneisses and Variscan granite pluton. Jizera orthogneisses and the contact of these two objects were considered to be very promising in terms of finding springs of the radioactive medicinal water. Another criterion for a successful exploration is also an abnormal tectonic deformation of the zone. Phytoplankton in experimental ponds: colonization and seasonal succession

Artificial ponds are excellent for the study of phytoplankton ecology. They permit repeatable initial conditions and sufficient replication of independent experimental units in complex experiments to test hypotheses about the control of structure and function in natural communities. There were 20 experimental ponds constructed in Kokoř nsko Protected Landscape Area, from which samples were taken and analyzed. This study was part of the EU BIOPOOL. During the first two years after the filling of the ponds the colonization and the seasonal development of phytoplankton communities in the ponds were examined. The phytoplankton species composition was determined, then species richness and relative abundance of individual taxa were quantified. Species composition data were compared with the environmental parameters measured (temperature, oxygen concentration, pH, transparency, conductivity, depth, chlorophyll-a concentration, and zooplankton). In the spring 2007, the ponds were periodic, and followed a similar trend over time (February- April). Proposal of Database for Pivní burza pub

Restaurant and pub Pivní burza is first of its kind on Czech market. The Pub operates on the principle of exchange (organized market), where the price of beer is floating and with increasing demand for one product, price of the other products is changing in real time. Customer can monitor the price developments and realize an order on the touch panel, which is located on the restaurant tables. Thesis is focused on the analysis of the current status of the restaurant, own solution design and suggestions for future improvements.

Childrenś nursing care with pneumonia

Pneumonia still belongs to most frequent and most serious disease of child age. In the Czech Republic, approximately 30,000 children at the age within five years are attacked by pneumonia annually. In total, as many as 100,000 Czechs come down with pneumonia every year. Even today, a certain percentage of children die of pneumonia. The clinical picture of acute pneumonias has changed over the last years. The number of bacterial pneumonias has decreased whereas the number of viral ones has increased. The theoretical part of the bachelor's thesis contains classification and description of differences of pneumonias occurring in children; the persisting hazardous character of this disease is accentuated and the overview of the nursing care for children suffering from this disease is provided as well. The application part of the research determined 2 goals; on the one hand, to discover what nursing care for children with pneumonia is provided currently and on the other hand, the level of education and knowledge on the part of the parents of the children suffering from this disease in home environment. Based on the foregoing, 3 hypotheses were determined. H1: The nursing care for children with pneumonia focuses on specifics of the respective disease. H2: The parents of the children are educated with respect to nursing care for children with pneumonias in home environment. H3: The parents of the children are well-informed of the prevention against the disease - pneumonia. The data were collected by the method of quantitative research in two hospitals in Prague, namely in FN Motol (teaching hospital) and in Nemocnice Na Bulovce (hospital) on the paediatric wards. The quantitative research was executed by means of questionnaires for the nurses and for the parents of the children hospitalized on the paediatric wards of FN Motol and Nemocnice Na Bulovce. The research set consisted of the hospitalized children at the age of 0 to 19 and their parents. In addition to the nurses working on the paediatric wards of both the hospitals. Collection of data proceeded from January 2012 to March 2012. The research confirmed in practice that the nursing care is provided by the nurses at a relevant level that it is accommodated to the child's age and the ability of the parents to cope with the necessary tasks. Information, education, advice are provided regardless of the mostly short period of hospitalization of the child within sufficient extent. The research focused on the parents of the hospitalized children revealed that with respect to the child's health condition, the parents cooperate readily; they learn to cope with the tasks concerning care for the child in home environment before the child is released to home care. The research revealed that the weak side is the remembering of all the necessary facts. Here the parents would welcome more extensive printed material concerning the disease, home care and more detailed prevention. The results of the thesis can be used for the parents as well as the nursing personnel as the overview of the pneumonia disease in children and the nursing care devoted to such children as this issue is paid less attention in the information sources than in the case of adult patients, and a comprehensive overview containing a guide to care for child with pneumonia has not been published in an integral form yet. The output is the information booklet for the parents of the children with this disease, focused in particular on the care for the child.
