Let the Crowd be Heard - A Crowdsourcing-based Study on Video Coding
Zach, Ondřej
In this paper, we present a crowdsourcing-based study on video codec comparison. We compared the perceived quality of sequences encoded using H.264 and H.265 algorithms. The main advantage of the study is, that the users could watch the videos in their natural environment using their own equipment. The results show, that H.265 may not bring a significantly better quality in SD scenarios, however, in other scenarios, the use of H.265 might be preferred.
Quality measurement of analog and digital terrestrial television broadcasting
Zach, Ondřej ; Polák, Ladislav (referee) ; Slanina, Martin (advisor)
This bachelor‘s thesis deals with the description of basic features of the analog and digital television broadcasting and suggestion of a method for objective video quality evaluation at both broadcasting types. The base of this thesis is description of picture broadcast technology in analog and digital form. Also principles of some video quality evaluation metrics are described. In this thesis, a method for video quality comparison is suggested, including a verifying of this method. According to this method, sequences at changing broadcasting conditions were recorded for both broadcasting types. The quality factors of these sequences were computed and on the basis of these factors, the analog and digital TV broadcasting were compared.
Tools for measuring video quality without reference
Zach, Ondřej ; Dostál, Petr (referee) ; Slanina, Martin (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with objective video quality assessments without reference. Some of the basics of video quality evaluation are described. Also some basic conditions for objective video quality metrics are introduced. The main focus of the thesis are no-reference approaches. Thesis tries to describe basic methods for seeking distortion in video. The difference between spatial-domain oriented and spectral-domain oriented metrics is analyzed. We also describe design of tool for measuring objective video quality in Matlab environment. We then designed and implemented a bit-stream oriented metric for estimation of the PSNR of H.264 coded sequences. Finally, we created a database of video sequences and we held objective tests. Results were compared with results from subjective measurements.
New video coding algorithms
High dynamic range imaging
Kupka, Petr ; Zach, Ondřej (referee) ; Slanina, Martin (advisor)
Bachelor thesis deals with basic principles of increasing the dynamic range of digital photography. The work also looks for the methods that are used to create high dynamic range (HDR) photography, and examines methods for compressing HDR images for low dynamic range (LDR) imaging. Implemented algorithms for tone mapping are performed in HDR_lab program created in Matlab.

Comparison of Movement Activity of Dairy Cows of Czech Fleckvieh Breed and Holstein Breed.
ZACH, Ondřej
This diploma thesis was focused on comparison of movement activity of dairy cows of Czech Fleckvieh Breed and Holstein Breed. Three herds of Czech Fleckvieh Breed and three herds of Holstein Breed were chosen on six farms. An observation of movement activity of dairy cows took place using pedometers during one year. Gained data was processed afterwards and then the comparison of breed influence on their movement activity was made. Possible effect of season on movement activity and effect of movement activity on efficiency was taken into account. The observation did not prove any difference of moving activity between observed breeds.
