A comparison of the development of divorce rate in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Sweden

This thesis deals with the development of divorce rate in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Sweden. The aim is to make a comparison of the development in these selected countries based on data available for the longest possible period of time, i.e. since 1960 and find out what factors have on the level of divorce rate the greatest influence. At the beginning of the thesis are briefly explained the basic demographic terms and defined selected demographic indexes. The second part focuses on the long-term development of divorce rate in our country. Then, in the third chapter is analysed divorce rate trend of recent years in the Czech Republic and is carried out an estimate of possible future divorce rate development for several years in advance by using trend analysis. The fourth chapter contains the comparison of the development of divorce rate in our country with the development of the Slovak Republic and Sweden by using selected demographic indicators. At the end of the chapter, there is also evaluation of divorce situation within Europe. From the perspective of historical development and comparison of divorce rate development in selected countries result differences in the roles of various factors, some of which cause individual fluctuations in time, eventually some characteristic differences between the compared countries. Other factors, particularly economic, social and political development of society has a fundamental effect on the long-term trend, in the case of total divorce rate it is growing trend.
