Title: Ideas for teaching basketball at secondary schools Aims: The work deals with theory and teaching of basketball at secondary schools (5th to 9th grade). The aim of the work is to show what tendencies have influenced the way basketball is being taught. Methods: The work is theoretical. The chief method is the research of literature and comparing various scientific findings. Results: It is clear that the approach to teaching of ball games has changed. The center of the teaching process is now the pupil and encouragment of permanent interest in physical activities. The question is not how to teach but how to create conditions for learning. It is recommended to facilitate conditions that respect the charecteristics of the game as well as mental and performance level of the pupils.
