In my thesis, I focused on the personality of the Czech conductor Karel Ančerl. I elaborated on his story as well as his professional career. His life mirrored historical turns of the 20th century. Imprisoned in concentration camps during the W W II, Karel Ančerl reached the very bottom of human strength. On the other hand, he reached the height of his carrer as conductor when he was the chief conductor of the Czech Philharmonic. This period which belongs to the heyday of the Czech Philharmonic ends abruptly in 1968 when he went in exile. He died there in 1973 . In my thesis I also endeavored to analyse his major artistic deeds.
The changes of interpretation attitudes
Krausová, Andrea ; Vavřínek, Stanislav (advisor) ; Bělohlávek, Jiří (advisor) ; Eliška, Radomil (referee)
In the thesis is being analyzed the subject of various interpretation approaches.First of all a historical overview is given to demonstrate the process of changing interpretation approaches throughout the history. Using a synchronic analytical method the autor describes the evolution of interpretative concept from original improvisational character of making music, shared by verbal tradition to the development of modern notation systems. The second part of the thesis is devoted to classifying different approaches that are still a part of contemporary interpretation theory. They are divided into an isochronal and authentic approach. These two are being compared to the traditional approach, the author´s approach and the approach concentrated on the notation. Determining the standards of different approaches should be a clue for the interpreter to find his/her own way between respecting the tradition and discovering own ways of the sound quality.
