Evaluation of dewatering of waterworks sludges with CST method
Svěrák, Michal ; Benešová, Libuše (advisor) ; Vašek, Petr (referee)
Main subject of the diploma thesis is an evaluation of waterworks sludge dewatering using the CST method. The CST or capillary suction time is method developed to evaluate specific resistance to filtration in an indirect way. In principle it is based on the use of filtration paper to measure willingness of sludge to release water or its filterability. Results are measured as time needed for the water to overcome a defined trajectory and expressed in seconds. The shorter the CST time the more filterable is the sludge sample. The CST method has been critically evaluated and it was assessed as a great method for selecting the ideal polymer used for the sludge dewatering and for defining its optimal dose. Measurements have been made on sludge from two waterworks plants Želivka and Kozičín. Polymer products from company Sokoflok and products Praestol and Magnafloc have been tested on both of them. The best polymers for dewatering have been selected. It was Sokoflok 104 for sludge Želivka 1, 55CN for sludge Želivka 2, Magnafloc for sludge Kozičín 1 and 55CN for sludge Kozičín 2. Second subject of the thesis was to evaluate a sludge sensibility to the shear rate. Havlík (2003) and Bache et al.(2003) are describing sludge as a substance very sensitive to higher shear rate which causes that the aggregates...
Reflections on the parliamentary elections in 1946 in the contemporary printed media
Vašek, Petr ; Cebe, Jan (advisor) ; Suk, Pavel (referee)
Master thesis "Reflections on the parliamentary elections in 1946 in the contemporary printed media" analysis the way six most influential newspapers of the time reported on those important elections. The relevant dailies are Rude pravo, Svobodne slovo, Pravo lidu and Lidova demokracie and two formally non-partisan papers Prace and Mlada fronta. This thesis explores the instruments of political propaganda four party dailies frequently used and how they described the political actions of political rivals. At the end of the thesis these four party-affiliated newspapers are compared mutually. We also deals with the issue whether the two formally non-partisan dailies Prace and Mlada fronta sided with the any individual political party. All six newspapers are studied during the tree weeks before the elections and another three weeks after the elections. This master thesis also stresses the importance of the description of the contemporary society, political and media context and uncovers also a number of facts that can complement the general historical knowledge about the given time. The study of the selected dailies for instance clearly shows that non-communist dailies (especially Svobodne slovo and Lidova demokracie) warned, as early as before the elections, against the posssibility of the communist...
Effect of polymers on the physical properties of waterworks sludge
Svěrák, Michal ; Benešová, Libuše (advisor) ; Vašek, Petr (referee)
Water treatment sludge disposal has been an important issue for decades. The actual system of sludge treatment is still not satisfying. The whole area is mainly focused on sludge volume reduction - dewatering. Sludge dewatering efficiency is based on many factors. Most important are the quality of raw water, technology of water treatment and sludge storage system. Two laboratory methods are used for measuring sludge dewatering ratio - capillary suction time (CST) and specific resistance to filtration (SRF). As a dewatering method filtration is mostly used, but centrifugation and clarification are also popular. The latest trend in sludge dewatering is usage of polymers, which improves and supports the dewatering of sludge. Dewatered and thickened sludge can be used as a secondary material or disposed at dumps.
Jezdecký areál v Moravských Knínicích
Vašek, Petr
The diploma thesis focuses on the design of a new timber construction of an equestrian hall for horse dressage in Moravské Knínice. The building will be placed in the location of the current inadequate riding hall, which will be demolished as part of the modernization. The design should respect not only the basic typological, legislative and hygienic requirements, but also the requirements of the investor for the operation of a year-round equestrian hall. Part of the thesis will also be a site study of the whole area with adjacent operations of the given purposes. The proposal respects the local conditions, set out in the local zoning plan, the specific needs of the rural site and the presence of existing utilities. The main output will be the partial drawing documentation of the equestrian hall in the scope of the building permit with the technical description of the solution. An approximate cost of realization will be determined using a uniform classification of building constructions. A 3D visualization of the proposed construction is also prepared to illustrate the idea.
Rodinný dům - Moravské Knínice Návrh dvougeneračního bydlení s využitím podstřešního prostoru
Vašek, Petr
Bachelor thesis includes design solution of built loft of a house while respecting the fundamental requirements of the investor for two-generational housing. There are developed the layout options for possible implementation of new housing units in the roof space. When designing state of the first floor, the shape and slope of the roof and ridge height of the object are preserved. The alternative is designed so that to fulfill the prerequisites for the construction of wood-based. Peripheral masonry backing consists of brick blocks, while the inner wall system consists of a wooden frame construction filled with a heat insulation. Emphasis is put mainly on the use of material from solid wood or with a higher content of wood in both interior and exterior of the house. Thereafter there are documented calculations heat transfer coefficients construction of the building envelope and is also determined the approximate cost of implementation using a uniform classification of buildings.

Temperature dependence of susceptibility of thin Pb films
Truněček, Otakar ; Janů, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Vašek, Petr (referee)
This master thesis is focused on temperature dependence of magnetization curves and susceptibility of thin films of type-I superconductor. A model for susceptibility of type-I superconductor in intermediate state is presented. This model is compared with experimental data yielding temperature dependence of critical magnetic field of superconductor. Furthermore it is shown that sufficiently thin film of superconductor which is type-I in bulk can exhibit type-II behaviour in perpendicular magnetic field. Susceptibility measured on such a film is therefore compared to susceptibility calculated for Bean model for type-I superconductors.
