Study of charmonia production and radiation at the LHC
Váňa, Pavel ; Spousta, Martin (advisor) ; Pleskot, Vojtěch (referee)
This thesis contains a study of production and radiation of J/ψ and ψ(2S) in pp collisions. Basic analysis of J/ψ and ψ(2S) using data from pp collisions at √ s = 5.02TeV measured in 2017 by the ATLAS Experiment at the LHC is performed. The yield of J/ψ is separated into prompt and non-prompt components. A comparison between Monte Carlo generator Pythia 8.240 and data collected by the ATLAS Experiment in 2015 and 2017 at √ s = 5.02 TeV is done. Transverse momentum dependent discrepancy between data and simulation is observed. It is seen that the description of charmonia production by Pythia 8 is limited since it cannot reproduce the shape of measured cross-section. An introduction to yield extraction using RooFit from measured data is also provided. Another part of this thesis is the description of charmonium production and gluon radiation in pp collisions simulated by Pythia generator. The slow growth of the mean value of the number of gluons radiated by charmonium intermediate octet state with increasing pT is observed. 1
Action for retrial and for nullity
Váňa, Pavel ; Vyskočilová, Silvia (advisor) ; Frintová, Dita (referee)
Action for retrial and for nullity Abstract This diploma thesis presents two institutes of Czech civil procedural law - an action for retrial and an action for nullity. Both actions are considered extraordinary remedies under Czech law and both can challenge a final court decision. An action for retrial serves to rectify defects in factual findings; an action for nullity serves to rectify procedural defects. Specific court decisions of the district, regional, and high courts are demonstrated in the thesis and prove that despite the scarce employment, the position of the actions within the legal system is justified and deserved. Both actions can further be found, slightly modified, in the upcoming new Civil Procedure Code, which should in the future replace the current Civil Procedure Code. The thesis presents several partial aims and one main aim. The partial aims are to introduce to the reader the actions for retrial and for nullity, to analyse their frequency and the reasons for which the actions were granted, and to make a comparison of Czech and Swedish civil procedural law. Fulfilling the partial aims accomplishes the main goal of the thesis: to provide a critical analysis of the substantive intent of the Civil Procedure Code based on the acquired knowledge. The diploma thesis is divided into six...
Study of electromagnetic processes in ultra-peripheral collisions of heavy-ions at the Large Hadron Collider
Váňa, Pavel ; Spousta, Martin (advisor) ; Mlynáriková, Michaela (referee)
This thesis contains a study of electromagnetic processes created in heavy-ion collisi- ons during interaction of electromagnetic fields of nuclei. During these collisions, dimuon pairs are produced via γγ → µ+ µ− processes. Dimuon pairs then penetrate quark gluon plasma created in heavy-ion collisions and their kinematics may be altered by the presence of the plasma. The aim of this thesis is to develop simple geometric model that is then im- plemented and a program for measuring the path length of products of electromagnetic processes is delivered. The simulation of centrality dependent acoplanarity broadening is performed. Centrality dependent acoplanarity broadening of dimuon pairs produced in γγ → µ+ µ− processes was previously measured by the ATLAS detector at the LHC in Pb+Pb collisions at √ sNN = 5.02TeV. It was shown that model can reproduce the dis- tribution of acoplanarity measured by ATLAS for α > 2.10−3 rad when the quadratic configuration of path-length dependence of acoplanarity broadening is used. On the con- trary, measurement of acoplanarity distribution for α < 2.10−3 rad cannot be reproduced by the model. 1
