Temporary consciousness disorders in providing the prehospital urgent care

The abstract The temporary state of unconsciousness (i.e. collapse, syncope) is a common reason for the emergency medical service intervention. Quantitative consciousness disorders affect patients of all ages. Sudden unconsciousness associated with a fall is usually dramatic for the laymen, but in most cases, this is a non-serious state of the noncardiogenic etiology, also called fainting. These states usually do not require urgent treatment. In contrast, cardiac syncopes, which occur mainly in the older age groups, are less common but have a significantly worse prognosis. Untreated, can result in sudden death of the patient. Mostly these are the collapses conditional cardiac arrhythmias. They account for about 10-20% of all states of collapse and have a very high mortality. Sudden temporary fainting requires careful physical examination and a thorough anamnesis within the first contact. Based on the results, in about half the cases it is possible for the cause of the collapse to be presumed. Though it is not possible to determine the definite cause of the collapse with certainity within the prehospitalurent care, therefore the patient is transported for the physical examination to a medical facility.
